The Thing vs the Thing
Let's say the novella Thing from "Who Goes There?" had gotten lucky, and managed to assimilate the entire base without being detected until it was too late. But then the movie Thing sneaks into the base and starts assimilating copies. Can the novella Things survive, or do they get slaughtered by the movie version?

For purposes of this discussion, can we call them Thing 1 and Thing 2?

NGL - this made me laugh.

If I recall correctly, novel Thing had psychic powers but was otherwise the same as movie Thing.

Not really. They kill 14 of the novella things with more ease than they kill one of the movie things. Really, the novella things go out rather pathetically in the end.

Whoever wins, Things[SUP]*[/SUP] lose.
*Various content warnings apply; it's basically the 1982 Thing from its own point of view.
