They had a bit during Fandome where Gunn asked him to talk like his character for a bit. It sounds like he's an "Aw shucks" kinda square dork (another promo photo has him raising his hand to ask a question during a mission briefing) who happens to be ridiculously violent
That sounds fun.

Cena has been pretty funny voicing Robo on Dallas and Robo, hopefully he can channel that

You can definitely make the argument that (at times) Cena's wrestling character is totally the douchey Captain America. The character is totally in his range and I suspect he nailed it.

Glad I'm not the only one here who enjoyed that cartoon. Wasn't expecting much from SYFY, but Robo and Dallas was fun, and John Cena was pretty funny in that, even if he was mostly the straight man to Kat's Dallas. I could definitely see him being a standout in this.

His character wasn't overly comedic, but he did have one of the best lines in Bumblebee: "They literally call themselves "Decepticons"! That doesn't set off any red flags?"

I have always read Peacemaker as a cowboy in my head ... The shucksey yanked doodle sounds like nice moderization.

Isn't he from Switzerland or something? I mean, who knows what they'll do for the movie. I have a lot of faith in Gunn either way.

He's the character Alan Moore based the Comedian on.

To be fair, Alan Moore added a lot of crazy and service to America.
Then writers added more crazy to mainstream Peacemaker, sigh...
The Suicide Squad's Steve Agee will reprise his role as John Economos in HBO Max's Peacemaker spinoff series.
Agee actually has two roles in director James Gunn's upcoming DC film. In The Suicide Squad, he serves as the on-set actor behind the CGI character Nanaue, better known as the meta-human King Shark. Additionally, Agee will play the human character of John Economos -- the warden of Belle Reve who serves as an aide to Viola Davis' Amanda Waller. According to Deadline, Agee will return as Economos for Peacemaker, an HBO Max spinoff series in which The Suicide Squad star John Cena will reprise his role as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker.
Am I the only one who prefers a bigger helmet? :D It seems they're having fun with character anyway...

Didn't they clash in the Vigilante series? They're good foils for each other.
