Donna Troy: Sup, you think you have confusing origins? Bitches, please.
Miles Morales: Good, the more they focus on Captain Marvel the less likely people will wonder why Marvel didn't just create another Miles in the 616 to be a Spider-Man instead of bringing me over. Seriously, why didn't they just do that?
Among female comics characters in general, I'm sure Lois Lane, Catwoman, and Batgirl will still be better known/liked. Among Marvel's females specifically, I think Black Widow will still be more liked.
Tbh I hadn't thought of the non heroes like Lois, and I don't personally call cat woman a hero so I hadn't thought of her, but both if these are big names true
I'd say she would rank about the same as bat girl with the movie,
black widow ill admit I'd totally forgotten about, she's gotta be hugely well known now
This will never last once the movie comes out they’ll change her origin again just you wait
This is probably the movie origin to be honest.

Donna Troy has like 5 different origins...

Why can't a supposed feminist icon be... ya know... a real woman with abilities? They always make them un-human in some way, which defeats the whole purpose.

Because COMICS and because REAL = boring.
There are plenty of quality feminist "regular" women characters.
Carol is still a WOMAN battling perceptions <waves>, striving to be her best self.
I love how you had to find out by reading an article when the last issue came out about 3 weeks ago. Suggesting you dont read her comics yet you have enough input to suggest she's Marvel's attempt at a Superwoman again without reading the actual story.
Her biology is more attuned to Aquaman, Namor, Jon Kent then it is any full kryptonian. Its her own thing among Kree given she's a Kree/Human hybrid.
She's what? Isn't Kree/human hybrid Ultra Girl's thing?

Carol's been a human/kree hybrid since she got powers, which was quite a bit before Ultra Girl ever showed up.

But the element of being a "natural born half kree hybrid" it is a "retcon". The original concept of hybrid is a being born from parents of two different yet similar species (like Homo nehandertalis and homo desinova offsprings). Carol was more like a CRYSP-edit version of that idea, an accidental GMO. In that aspect, Ultragirl is the previous one.
-
True, but I'm not sure the distinction is really all that major anyway. They sorta recognized the two having similar power origins(mix of kree/human dna) by giving Ultra Girl Carol's original uniform, if only for a short time. Ultimately I don't think Ultra Girl really delved into the idea anyway, while Carol had a few story beats involving the potential of kree and human dna being mixed.
-
I don't really like the change but I get why they did it.
-
So the retcon has driven the creator of Illuminating Comics to quit:
I’m not even gonna go watch the movie. Yeah, I said it. That’s a couple bucks you’re not getting from me Marvel. Take that. Maybe my missing ticket will be the one that causes it to flop. I hope so, that goddamn movie is the entire reason this series exist and why you started pushing Carol in the first place, ruining her in the process.
