Now that Maker is in 616, yes! Hey maybe this Maker.

^That I think is probably the leader of ORCHIS.

I think so too since Hickman really liked Carey's story particular due to its similarity to his Children of Tomorrow. But I think at this point it's only a fan-theory until there is more evidence .

Children of the Vault are not the Children from the City.
(also for reference, the Maker is in every universe)
Because HE COMES IN SLICES.

Was there not one of the 20 Sinister rumours about 'children'? I remember vaguely, but I remember one of those rumours reminded me of the Children of the Vault.

It's Dr. Killian Devo, Director of Orchis.

I always thought the CotV were precursors to the Super Sentinels (e.g., Fantomex, Ultimaton) created in the World facility. Which means that they could all be precursors to the Homo Novissima we saw a thousand years from now in Powers of X. So sure. I think that’s logical.

I guess not as many people remember the Children of the Vault as I'd assumed.

If anything, Homo Novissima would have come before the Children. Novissima is 1000 years into the future while the Chidren evolved through 6000 years of compressed time. It also seems lile the Children were much more powerful, Serafinas technology allowed her to siphon all the light emitted from the sun and convert it into energy to boost the Beaubiers speed.
Don't know how much of a connection there could be, I remember enjoying the few stories they have but it's been quite a while. Not sure how many of the dots could possibly connect.

It's not a spoiler if it's real, Charles.
Y'all with these cryptic hints and stuff are truly honoring the Hickman era.

Read today's X-Men #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Francis Yu. (Because it's good.)
But, to answer your question, [spoil]a Child of the Vault appeared! Serafina. And Polaris made the post-humanity connection.[/spoil]

Christmas came early this year!!

[spoil]I don't think that was Serafina, she looked like her and shared some design elements and abilities. But it sounded like she was younger[/spoil]

She sounded a lil out of character but the design was very similar + the invisibility cloak thing she tried to do on Storm was a Serafina move from her first appearance. As happy as I am she showed up its a little lame Hickman is using ger to prop up his frankly underwhelming antagonists.
Wow, I'm good.

Yeah, kudos. I only thought about Serafina while reading because I had seen this thread and Storm said "Vault"

She said she was undercooked. Can they remake themselves? I only skimmed the second CoV story a few years ago.

Maybe they'll take over as the primary antagonists. I'm not into Orchis. I did like Homo Novissima. I'm hoping Orchis is just setting the stage.
Orchis isn’t really fascinating, but it could be cool if it ended up as the excuse to get a bunch of actually cool characters under one roof.
I want more of everyone's favorite killer robot. <3 Nimrod <3
Love the timing of this thread! LOL
I probably wouldn't have recognized Seraphina if I hadn't seen this earlier.

I think the concept of all of these super-scientists getting together to eradicate mutants is an interesting one, and different enough from previous groups like the Friends of Humanity or the Purifiers. I also like the parallels between Dr. Devo and Cyclops.
But yes, Orchis possibly bringing together characters like Nimrod and the Children of the Vault is the really cool part.

Yeah, it’s not an uninteresting idea, we just haven’t seen enough of these scientists to know if they’ll deliver.
I wonder if Hickman will loop old favorites of his like Forson into this.
The cooked remark makes me doubt she is Serafina, why would she say that?
However the Vault remark of Ororo makes me think she is.
That sure looked like Serafina to me.
I just re-read Supernovas for the first time since the original run because of this. It holds up. Mike Carey was one of the few writers that held my interest since Morrison. I'll have to read through the entire run - I followed the whole main run but lost track during Legacy.

I was thinking it's a version of her before she was completely formed. As if Orchis was trying to pull them out of time as soon as the 5000 years evolutionary process was completed, but she was taken early.
I wasn't reading during their last story. What's their status atm?
I'd love to believe this recent interest in kooky remnant species might mean the return of the Neo (yes, I know they got mostly wiped out). I kind of dug those weird-ass losers.
The Children all had very distinct and unique designs, so it seems unlikely to me that it was meant to be someone else who happened to be dressed just like Serafina. Though I agree there appears to be something off about her, as if she was an earlier version like some speculated.
Unless Orchis is revealed to have time travel capabilities, I could imagine that the Children might have multiple Vaults and/or stored backups of their own, and Orchis managed to find such a site. Also because it seems unlikely to me that Orchis managed to overpower and capture one of the Children we met before, as they appear way out of their league.
Or one of the Orchis founders was part of the original Vault experiments. Someone Creed missed.
Magneto is the only one from this issue to have met any of the Children and he didn't seem to recognize her as Serafina.
But that could be due to the fact that she was a photonegative, right down to her speech bubbles. She looks and sounds different.
Children of tomorrow made by evil reed RichardS from the ultimate universe
616 version of children of the vault
Hickman made them when he was writing in the ultimate universe

It may not be exactly Serafina, but I think it's one of her sisters for sure!
