I have the feeling that Major X is a big joke that they are making to everyone, including Rob.
....I keep thinking that this can't be real.
I thought I had just dreamed those speech bubbles.
....I keep thinking that this can't be real.
Right? I'm a little suspicious. I mean are we really so low that you can just put the "X" moniker on anything and make a character...
Oh way. Stacy X... Adam X... Mr/Mrs X. I'm ... super disappointed.
I read that dialogue and for a moment I thought that it was truly written by Liefeld himself, it's an style similar to his awful work at DC lol.
Please tell me those aren't Liefeld's panels. Someone else drew those, right? I don't think I've ever seen a longsword or katana brandished like a baseball bat is all. Not by someone truly skilled in its use. And certainly not when you're facing someone with either claws or daggers who also happens to be dangerously INSIDE of your defensive stance. Raise a sword like that, to someone as fast as Wolverine no less, and you're eviscerated before you bring the arc of the sword back into position to hit him or parry his blows. The logic of the sequence of panels moving from 3 to 4 doesn't hold up.
Those panels are insane. The logistics of that sequence make absolutely zero sense.

Stacy X I'm willing to give a pass since I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a play on ecstacy. Since her real name's Miranda, it's not like she just slapped an X onto her birth name, either.

Yeah, I see that he STILL hasn't figured out how to avoid the disappearing second hand issue. All he has to do is take a broomstick, hold it in that same pose and go look at himself in the mirror. Look at the positioning of both hands. Then draw that. Take a picture and trace it a thousand times for all I care until he gets some idea of what hands holding a sword should look like. It's not rocket science.
I'll never criticize Liefeld's art due to the fact that I'm no better. What I do want say is that I wish he'd stop using Wolverine in his projects though. Dude claims to be a big fan of Logan, but all I've seen him do over the years is use him to get some of his creations to get one over on Logan. He started it with Cable, did it with Deadpool, continued the trend with Shatterstar, and now this new lame looking character.
I struggle to understand how he finds work, his art is utterly appalling. That isn't even his worst! You would think by now he would at least have tried to get some sort of understanding of human anatomy, but no.
I mean, it isn't actually going to matter what the story is like, it is going to be ruined by the ridiculous "art".

It is all about Nostalgia
I guess so. It's all a bit disappointing to me though. I often wonder how people can be nostalgic about such rubbish. Then I see The Spice Girls are touring again, and compared with that rubbish Liefield art looks impressive.

Bravo to Liefeld lol. Heaven knows there's lots of characters constantly jobbed out to Logan. Least Liefeld will give him some L's. lol
Major X has done what most of Logan's Rogue Gallery rarely does today. lol
Provided he's not an existing time-traveled character, I vote Major X for Logan's new arch rival. lol Tied with DP.
but yeah no matter how you hack it someone is always going to be jobbed to the title character which in this case is Logan. sentry and Jane thor have been doing the same thing in their books.

Jobbing isn't good for any character. I think it's an example of bad writing when you have to under-perform characters to make pets look good. And it's a huge problem with team books where they're basically solos in disguise. One, maybe 2, characters are get all the good moments & the story centers on them. Meanwhile the rest of the cast is around to look incompetent or be wallpaper on a good day.
Gold had this issue the biggest. Followed by Weapon X. Not sure about Astonishing. But since we're stuck with this form of biased fan writing, then turn about is fair play.
But it'd be good to get objective, non-biased writers in general where all the characters get their even due. Win some, lose some, and make things competitive. When one characters is always winning or always losing, it eventually gets stale. It's like MMA fights. I love Cris Cyborg, but I rarely rushed to watch her recent UFC fights, because I knew she was gonna win. lol Amanda Nunes was her biggest test, and that was a fight I was anxious for. And behold, Nunes is the first to beat her in 13 years. I am a fan of both, but I rooted for Amanda as the underdog. Cyborg is similar to Wolverine (except i'm not a fan). We know 98% of the time, his opponent will be jobbed. So his fights are predictable. Meanwhile, should he ever lose or at least be pushed a bit, it's a nice change of pace. I would say this about any character.
Isn't Liefeld rich enough to retire yet?
Isn't Liefeld rich enough to retire yet?
When something is your passion, you never retire. I may not be a fan of his artwork, but there's no denying the man's love of comics.

Truer words have never been spoken! Definitely one of THE worst artists in comics.
Just saw he's doing a JL cover (pic attached). Ugghh... so ugly! What's up with Supes' torso and chest? Batman's face? Wonder Woman's face? So many things just look "off" on these characters. And this is him drawing after being in the business for decades?!

Is Major X supposed to be like Squirrel Girl and like Gwenpool? mixed and mashed as one? Because if he's a joke character.......do we really need another one?

What characters have been jobbed out to Logan? Maybe Logan was simply just better than them. I bet you'll change yo tune tho once Liefeld wants to use Sabretooth in one of his projects and have him get his ass kick by a X-23 knockoff named Razorback(who happens to have adamantium blades protruding from her back for some reason). Oh and she's a 10 year old who knows all forms of combat on Earth and has been training for all 10 of those years(she started in the womb) to take Creed out because he murdered her father(who was a former Weapon X scientist :)

Ok, well maybe Major X is just better than Logan. How do we know he's jobbing here? Lol Same for Cable, who may just be better. than Logan.
And i'm not too worried about Sabretooth at this point. It's pretty clear he's not a popular character that's taken seriously and his whole purpose is being a whipped pussy. Weapon X was the last train wreck from the X-Office I plan to sit through for him. And that was horrible enough.
Otherwise, unless I hear phenomenal reviews for something, I don't plan to read anything he shows up in. Unless it's outside of the X-Office -like Iron Fist and Black Widow. Or What Could've Been trivia from Bunn. lol
Otherwise, we'll just get more of this.

Started with a few examples, but there was so many, I had to keep going. lol And I'm not finished yet.
Hopefully my other few favs. will have something better waiting.

Only under Liefeld's watch. He never let's Logan win ever and he supposedly his favorite X-character besides his creations. For some reason he see's Logan as this super high measuring stick and the only way to get his creations any kind of credibility is to have them win against him. As for Sabretooth, he is popular. He's connected to the most famous X-Man of all time being his arch nemesis. When Marvel and DC had their crossover, it was Creed and Joker(DC's most popular villain) who fused into Hyena. All characters go through a bad spell, it's just Creed's turn. His just been a bit longer than others(him and Storm can compare notes or something).

Hell we may get some twist that Major X is Wolverine. lol I get the feeling he's gonna be another time-displaced character. May be Deadpool again. lol
But I am sure Logan will come out on top somehow. Liefeld may not have done him justice in the past, but his Wolverine Publicity is MUCH stronger now, so Marvel probably won't let Liefeld smack him around too much without giving back some equal & devastating damage. This is probably just a first meeting page where Logan underestimated him. Not uncommon for a foe to be dangerous because they aren't known yet. But once they show their hands, then they can be dealt with.

When something's gone on 16 years, we're passed bad spell. lol Creed's famous as Wolverine's accessory, but not for himself. With the jobbing, lack of attention, abusive love interest, constant dismissal, and terrible tv adaptations, he can't be popular. lol He's just famous. He's Wolverine's most recurring annoyance & fans like seeing him lose. But he's no longer handled like he has (is supposed to have) popularity or fans.
Sadly, some characters just start off one way, then do a 180 from what they were. Then it's a base-breaking deal. Because some may like the new versions.
Lola Bunny is an ex. She started as sexy & straight-arrow. Eventually her character went more cartoonish, and she became more of a goofy ditz.

Those who like the latter version, great.
Those who loved the original, too bad for them. lol
Same deals with Storm, Gambit, Deadpool, Domino, Monet, and surely many others.
I hated Liefield's art and the exodus of Chris Claremont from X-Men and Alan Davis from Excalibur so much that I wrote several letters to Marvel back in the day. I received a letter from CC, a post card from AD, and a call on my unlisted phone number from Bob Harris. I framed the letter and post card in my hobby room.
I won't buy anything that Liefield does and even dislike any of the characters he created even if later creators improved them.

That is a bit silly, Cable has had huge development, and is a brilliant character, or was, before this whole kid Cable fiasco.
That is a bit silly, Cable has had huge development, and is a brilliant character, or was, before this whole kid Cable fiasco.
Yeah. Domino & Deadpool also got some great development. Before writers started using them as slapstick comedy clowns. lol
Eh, Deadpool got really popular when they were using the more comedic angle and the blockbuster movie renforced that. When lots and lots and lots of other people like that angle, the company’s gonna stick with it. Domino’s more comedic turn was probably because of the movie too.
That is a bit silly, Cable has had huge development, and is a brilliant character, or was, before this whole kid Cable fiasco.
Maybe some writer will rework Major X into a great character with moving motivations like was done to Commander X, but I still remember the hollow core of what Liefield created. When I see Cable's guns I recall Liefield mentioning in an interview that he did that as a way to avoid drawing a real gun or having to draw detail. It was a way to avoid work. He compared it to Jim Lee doing detail drawings of real guns in Punisher.

That cover is Whack. Like, Wolverine's claws are bigger and thicker on the end than the attachment to his bones/ligaments. And they look like cardboard cutouts propped for a picture. YIKES
Honestly though, the art on the Uncanny run has been silly bad as well. I feel like they need to bring in fresh meat or pay the good artists what they are worth.
