Sounds like some versions of OG Kara. You know PG is kinda irrelevant except for fanservice cues, feel like shes a subversion of superheroine sexiness and exploitation in superheroines at its most shallow level and meant to be played for laughs, i mean she had a run with another subversive villain turned anti heroine that was all about her obvious sex joke of a rack and herself as a porn supergirl, hell her villain is a 80s porn star pastchie who had been promoted feeling her up in her and harleys covers, theirs no way pg can be taken seriously anymore these days, supergirl is a well intentioned concept of the superman parody as a hero that doesnt flaunt her body or overt personality to get attention, shes actually a well developed and dynamic character thats like spiderman meant to grow and learn while keeping the same ideals as her cousin and being like superman in a sense.
... what Agent Z said.

Wow, I can't imagine a more uninformed take on Power Girl. Congratulations.
The fuxk..kara was near narutoish or luffyish as pre crisis supergirl or DCAU Supergirl. Supergirl was a brash yet fun rebel before power girl was created.
Supergirl was fun, but writers keep turning her mean, emo and selfish.

Wow. You couldn't be more wrong about her character if you tried. The Harley/PG mini is such a low point to base her character off of. Go back and read the JSA series, the All-Stars series, her own series or even better yet, track down the trades of the early All-Star Comics staring the Justice Society.

Hell, Sovereign Seven had a better PG than what we get in Harley's books, and S7 was a creator owned project where Karen was brought in as a replacement for a fan favorite team member when he got killed!
And I say this as someone who actually enjoys Karen in Harley's books. I find those appearances pretty meta; Karen having to deal with a character who treats her the way a lot of readers do. I've never thought Karen comes off looking too awful in those appearances, she's the straight man in the bit. But as I've said before, I'm likely biased because I watch my wife deal with similar issues of objectification.

I appreciate that, but when that's the only thing DC will publish PG in, it gets tiresome.
-
It does get tiresome, absolutely. I'm glad Palometti and Conner use Karen, because no one else at DC does these days and I do enjoy their take on her, but yeah this single approach to PG, which is used largely just to highlight Harley's....unique.....world view is highly limiting.
But hey, better that than the crap we got with the New52 right?

I mean it's hard to get lower than turning her into Taylor Swift in a Supergirl costume on the Earth they buried.

Except now you made that all work! I mean, now, whenever I think about that dark time, I just can't stop laughing at the thought of Taylor Swift PG!:p

Seriously. Thanks Robanker for making a horrible thing sound good! Now my feelings are conflicted! :D

On a sadder note, that business over at DC would seem to put paid to any Power Girl solo, or even a JSA ongoing. I don't think we'll see any of that for the foreseeable future. Maybe as an OGN? But she doesn't seem the type to give one of those.

As far as direct markets go, yeah PG is straight up f*cked. If she's lucky, then *maybe* she sticks around somewhere as a supporting character, or as part of a team title like JSA.
But if they do indeed push into digital and keep *most* of their OGN efforts going, or even invest more into that (the articles I saw weren't clear on it) then Karen's odds of getting a book are probably a little higher than they were. The issue with the direct market is that, by and large, it only supports the big name characters and creators so the C-listers like Karen end up as nothing more than pet projects. But these other formats don't have that limitation; they appeal to a wider audience who don't have the built-in bias of Wednesday Warriors. I mean, Raven had a OGN that sold crazy good right? Raven. If she can do it, so can Karen. Someone just has to throw a viable pitch out there.

Ascended I know man poor power girl. This is why we need to get Karen into a relationship with dick asap.

Ha! I'll send DC my resume and see what I can do! :D
....you know, I'd love to see the panic on these forums if I *actually* started working there.....
