I still think the Thanos snap and decimation of mutants because of it as the best and smoothest transition, and this could directly lead into HoX.Start the movie like Messiah Complex and reiterate that Destiny prophecied a great destruction of people and mutants, explain that humanity was restored by Avengers travelling in time but Loki taking the tesseract out of that universe meant mutant numbers were not restored. The Xavier mansion and school exists, but Beast is researching what happened ,why mutants who disappeared did not return.Actually the idea of HoX need not immediately jump to Krakoa ,but have Beast seek help of Sinister who is already dabbling in mutant resurrections(we can tie his efforts to secret funding by Hellfire club headed by Selene to take it into the Necrosha storyline in the continuity).Meanwhile have Cable steal the Tessaract from Loki and escape with Hope into present day and present universe to set off factions fighting over Hope just like in Messiah complex

[QUOTE=Purplevit;4978604]Just a rumour. According to Mikey Sutton on LOTLB and Cosmic Wonder:
Mr.Sinister, Savage land, Sauron, Kazar and Shanna, are planned for X-Men MCU sequel. Not for first movie. Line up for X-men is still waiting for final decision but it seems that Havok are planned for that.
Early premise so far.

Partially based on the ultimate universe probably. The MCU never directly adapts anything, they like to cherry-pick details from all over the place.

I'm betting itll be a mix of something we learn in the Eternals and something we assumed from midcentury SHIELD(HYDRA), and lost control of after 2000.

Not true. LOTLB have scoops from 2 different sources. They had right scoops and had wrong. The same is about Sutton.

Yeah. Like The Eternals will show how the Celestials planted the seed for mutation in humans, but there were very few naturally occurring mutants until WWII. Then, through Hydra experiments during the war (using the the Tesseract/Space Stone) they unlocked the mutant gene in Wolverine, and a handful of others. After the war they picked up the experimentation on some of those mutants they’d created, and Weapon X was formed to recollect them. Also, Strucker did the same with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Finally, when the Thanos snap occurred it sent enough cosmic energy into the world to cause all sorts of mutants to start popping up. Something like that. A mix of 616 and Ultimate.
Would explain why so few really knew anything about mutants until now because, prior to that there just weren’t many and those that did exist were Top Secret.

That seems solid. Would be satisfied if that's the route they take.

The thing about Hickman's Xmen being adapted to the MCU is while it would work. It wont feel original in the sense the MCU is already crowded with "teams". And the isolationist concept with sole ownership of an export is already being done with Black Panther

The only official team at the moment is the Guardians of the Galaxy. I fail to see how the MCU is crowded in that regard

I like alot of the features of this idea. I was thinking something similar with Thanos' snap going throughout the multiverse and either wiping out mutants in another world or giving rise to the xgene in another world. The Xmen and FF could maybe come as a result of the incursions and a secret wars type thing which brings them to the MCU. If it was found that the mutations came from the radiation of the snap no doubt there would be resentment. Also the idea of the fall of Shield, Hydra and other organizations then forming Orchis would fit as well.
The other idea I like is the one that mutants or enhanced individuals have been around but were few and far between. So sure you've had Apocalypse and Selene. Even Xavier and Magneto and others. People like Sinister studied mutations but were condemned. The snap and tge realease of that radiation jumpstarted the Xgene so that more and more mutants started popping up. This could have been going on during the 5 year gap where many people lost their loved ones yet other individuals seemingly profited or were enhanced by the snap and not seemingly devastated like some. The possible idea that the world has more superpowered or enhanced individuals suddenly and that some are children untrained would be scary enough. But then having maybe Xavier in a style like the Morrison comics coming and announcing that they are mutants would drive that even further.

The UNIQUE element of the X-Men is the school. It may not be in New York, but it will be the setting.

The Avengers or their members are still there and then the Eternals (for god knows what reason) are coming. Along with Guardians and Spiderman...yeah its headed for being crowded just like the comics

Yes the alternative of the Thanos snap jumpstarting the X-gene is also a good idea. Depends how the writers do it,though
I think it would more easily explain older mutants like Selene and Apocalypse existing if the X-gene existed for millennia but the snap made lots of mutants disappear, maybe they could fuse both ideas that while some mutants survived the snap, the snap by the Hulk created a multitude of new mutants, and when Beast looks into it he realises the new batch of mutants has DNA different from 'normal' mutants as if they are a different species. It would almost be like having the Neo alongside mutants. This makes the possibility of mutant inter wars down the line, when you throw in Children of the Vault as a separate 'house' we have a real game of thrones scenario :-)

Who is in the Avengers? The characters banded together for a mission in the last film and went back to their lives after, those that weren’t killed. Spider-Man isn’t a team, nor are the Eternals
