Oh and he has a cool supersuit
The interesting thing is he's a son of Zod that became a pacifist. So maybe having him be a teenager that comes to Earth and deal with the culture shock. Maybe he becomes a pacifist as a way to adjust to his new powers? He decides to stop fights than start them?
He'd work more on his own Earth, whether you reboot Earth 2 or move him to another one. Prime Earth is a bit crowded but maybe you could put him as one of the Kryptonians living on Zod's New Krypton? You could play him as the White Sheep of Zod's family.
Or is he? :D How normal is it for people in the House of Zod to act like Dru-Zod? Much like how Kal-El isn't the progenitor of the House of El, there's a lot more to the House of Zod than just Dru-Zod.
Michael B. Jordan Developing His Own Black Superman Project for HBO Max
Michael B. Jordan and his production company Outlier Society are developing their own Black Superman project for HBO Max that centers on the Val-Zod incarnation of the character, Collider has exclusively learned.
Sources say that Outlier Society has hired a writer who is currently working on the script, though we were unable to ascertain their identity. It's unclear whether the Val-Zod project will be a movie or a limited series, but either way, Jordan will produce and he may even star, though he has yet to officially commit on the latter front.

Basically a wrap for Cavill, can’t see them doing four Superman projects between Hoechlin, Coates, and now this. Makes Jon’s push even weirder now though, no chance he gets a push in outside media anytime within the next decade now.
Heh, does this make Coates Superman more or less likely to be black?
Hopefully it fleshes him out in his own direction (rather than using Clark's).
Once again, what a wonderful time to be a Superman fan.

Oh he will be black (if it happens). No way in hell would Coates be involved otherwise. If MBJ is doing Val though, I wonder if that means he will be replacing Cavill in the DCEU given Val replaces a dead Clark Kent?

reminds me of when there were 2 Joker projects in development, I bet only one happens.

its possible they were informed that there was going to be a teenage Jon in the Arrowverse, but had no idea he'd be a normal high schooler. And since there were guys like Didio who much prefer young Superman, used that as a go ahead to make Jon New 52 lite. I really don't think theres a masterplan certain fans here are speculating about.
One of these things are gonna get cancelled
However, it is premature to assume that Coates is writing a black superman
He could just as easily write a white Superman dealing with race issues as an alien immigrant who passes as the white ideal
A complicated theme explored in his captain America run and Superman smashes the klan
Coates is more than capable of writing a white superhero reflecting on his privilege

If this is true, they should set it on E____ and open it up with the death of the trinity like in E2 and go from there.

As a longtime Val fan, I'm very happy about this news and excited to watch the series.
*crosses fingers* I hope they include a version on Kara\Karen in this. Val's story would not be the same without her. IMO, she is his Lois.

Anything comics wise, with Val coming up?
Anything comics wise, with Val coming up?
Nope. Nothing likely to be done with him until/if the HBO Max series happens and then there will likely be content for that. But the focus is on Jon right now and DC doesn’t want any other competitiors.
