Street level characters do nothing for me. Never have. I sometimes tolerate them if they're on a team with powerful types, but otherwise, I don't have the patience for the jobbing, PIS and general f***ery necessary to explain how a person with a bow, a gun, a shield or fluttering wings routinely survives one battle a month, let alone multiple fights with armed assailants, many of whom are far more powerful in their own right.
Street level characters who get cosmic level amps do nothing for me as well. And yes, that includes Venom and Cosmic Ghost Rider. Hard pass.
Characters like Deadpool are a major turn-off for me as well. I don't see him as particularly compelling or funny.
Reed Richards should have been killed off long ago. Hell, whack Johnny, too. The FF should be Sue, Ben Grimm, Firestar and pretty much anyone else. Well, not Deadpool.
Lastly, I hate to admit this, because I don't dislike these characters, but it will be a long time before I pick up a book featuring either Thanos or Doctor Doom. I need about a 4-5 year break. You know, enough time to really miss them.
I tried getting into Marvel Cosmic, I just couldn't do it. I tried reading Annihilation and it was not compelling to me.
And Young Marvel (Champions) really not my cup of tea; I'm just not interested about young heroes and if I was interested I would rather read X titles that cater to this
Mostly the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. I like ideas and characters that originated from these two franchises but overall I find both very uninteresting to me. They are like the original Star Trek - I just can't get in to them.
Right now, the mutant books.
I’m keeping up w. what’s going on, but actively reading that dreck is a no go.
Usually characters who buy into their own hype. Thanos, Apocalypse, Magneto, Ultron, etc. except Doom and Namor. Both are entertaining as hell.
I liked the X-men, very much so… It’s not the case anymore.
The younger generation of heroes is something which I admire, like and have a great deal of respect for, but admit that it's not for me.
I'm glad they've managed to get the success they deserve and I hope that in 10-20 years they get the MCU treatment, but they just don't do it for me.
I'm also not a great fan of the magical side, much like the younger generation, I have a lot of love and respect for it, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Doctor Strange is a character I've tried to get into, and I kind of leave it after the Ditko run, I like it when he guest stars in other books because I do enjoy the character a lot.
Street level…. Daredevil, Punisher, Etc.
Street level just isn't my thing.
The Champions thing i just find hard to get into.
Apart from X-men, X-Force and Wolverine, I've dropped all the X-titles.
Ewing's GoTG completely lost me after the first three issues.
The Avengers, no offense.
My team books can be satiated by the X-Men and my solo book is Daredevil. Don't need anything else.
Punisher, Conan, Wolverine, Thor, and Venom.
Some years back when I quit comics. When I went back to picking up a few titles I could never get back into the X-Men. Never got into Punisher, Venom, Deadpool, Wolverine. I haven't read the Avengers in several years now. May try again it they get a change in the creative team. Jason Aaron makes me actually miss Bendis. :p
