Posting GIFs from giphy

There are several comic book appropriate GIFs on that site that often perfectly sum up my reactions to things here. Yet whenever I use the image function, nothing winds up appearing in my post.

Is this like posting tweets: I just have to screen- shot a GIF to get it to show up in a post? Or is it something else?

Please advise.

Honestly, we'd prefer users to communicate through an exchange of words. An animated gif may be fine to express reactions but it's not really inviting to further discussion.
