Question About Infinity, Inc.'s Jade

I have an oddball question and I'm hoping someone out here might have an answer: When Roy Thomas introduced the character of Jade back in All-Star Squadron and Infinity, Inc. she was presented as someone who had the ability to shift her skin color from being a white flesh tone to a green one. After Roy left DC for greener pastures in '89 it feels like every writer who has used her since has either forgotten she had this ability or just chosen to ignore this aspect of her character. Was there ever an in-continuity explanation as to how Jade lost the power to switch back and forth??

I distinctly remember a part of Kyle Rayner's run where she mentions that the green skin ended up being more profitable for her modeling career. that's the only mention of that after Infinity Inc that I can recall. it's a cool aspect of her character so I don't see why she should switch

Pretty much so Kyle could be the [B]only[/B] Green Lantern in the universe.
To do that they turned Jordan insane, Gardner into a mutant, crippled Stewart (both body and mind) and ended the Corps, that wasn't enough they decided they needed to de-power Jade too.
Even though she was born with her powers innate, and had nothing to do with Kyle and the Corps, they wanted to make sure she wouldn't come off as more powerful and experienced then Kyle.
So he could be [I]special[/I]!
Then after de-powering her, they threw her in his bed too!.
They just kept her green (and de-powered) so she could be exotic for him.

Pretty horrible time for Jade fans.

Kyle fans celebrate it like it was her best time, and will remind you that it is Kyle who gave her a ring and "made" her a GL!

Yet apparently now Kyle [I]"gave"[/I] her [I]that[/I] too! LOL!

that's true. never really considered that hot green girls are a little overdone in sci-fi. I just thought Jade was a neat character. my Lantern crush was always Soranik :P
