While I'm interested in the series, those were some fugly cgi buildings in that cityscape.

Having fairly recently read that whole comic, I... Well...
...It's like in this weird liminal space, your know? One where I recognize what I'm reading is a genuinely a great story, but at the same time I'm not sure I actually liked it? I mean, I didn't dislike it, but I can't say I really enjoyed it. Does that make sense?
Like, it's sort of a pastiche on the whole Superman thing that acknowledges the inherent silliness of people deciding to dress in tights and fight crime just because they can, while at the same time taking itself very seriously with all the gore and deaths and mature themes and stuff. For perhaps the first time, I honestly wasn't sure if I was reading a reconstruction of superheroes or just a low-key deconstruction. Really, Mark's entire character arc was weird. I guess what I'm saying is, it gave me mixed signals.
I will say, though, the parts I enjoyed the most was everything up to the reveal of Omniman's true mission. I dunno, Mark adapting to his powers while getting pointers from his veteran hero dad was... nice. It was like a superhero slice of life sort of thing. I don't think I would have minded if it just kept going that way, even though I knew going in what was going to happen.
Anyone check out WandaVision yet?

I'm enjoying it so far

Youtube keeps showing me ads for that show, and yet I still have no damn idea what it's actually about.

I wish they would release all the episodes at one time, but it's been enjoyable so far.
Reading a bit about comics like Dark Knights from DC and that Carnage event from Marvel
Man, Mainstream comics isn't afraid to go dark now huh

Cause why not? Rude Boys needs some love. XD
Which one is your favourite? I’m calling Yu. :)
He kinda lives up to the gang name. ^_^
Adding to this, Teppuu has probably one of my top favorite protagonists. Natsuo just has layers of nuance that you don't really get with a lot of main characters; like knowing at times when she's being an asshole but relishing in it all the same because she actually gets to feel some form of emotion from it.
Full agreement, here.
[spoil]Can I guess that the dead again one is either Dog Brother #1 or Tiger’s Beautiful Daughter?
Those two always just somehow felt more expendable than the others.[/spoil]
Yes? :)

Glad to hear that you guys are enjoying WandaVision. That’s the marvel show that I’m most interested in. Anyone reading DC’s Future State? I’m gonna check out the Midnighter stuff when I get a chance.

It's the only Marvel thing I'm remotely interested in. My housemate and I watched the first two episodes a couple of days ago and... it's fine? Just about?
There's some really weird (as in unclear and amateurish, rather than narratively engaging) decisions in the filmmaking and how they are presenting the mystery of the thing feels kind of unsatisfying and inconsistent to me. I think the writers had a clear concept in mind but it feels very much like it's been through the executive mill.
In the same evening we also watched Pleasantville because there's some clear common influences there and had a much better time.
Currently it feels very safe to me which... y'know, it's Disney so that's hardly surprising. It's like a 5/10 at best. I'm hoping it actually starts to tip it's hand in the next episode because right now I'm just generally a bit bored by it.
