Just a thread to discuss everything from this amazing publisher.
Some info on IDW
Among their most critically acclaimed Titles are 30 days of Night and Locke and Key
Another great part of IDW is the Library of American Comics that releases extremely high quality collections of classic newspaper comics ( I have all 5 collections of Bloom County)
You can find some reviews of their comics here
A full list of what they have published
What is YOUR favourite IDW comic? Mine currently is TMNT and their Godzilla comics
-
Right Now I Like MLP: Friendship is Magic And MLP: Friends Forever
Used to Enjoy The Latest Ghostbusters run until last year when money became an issue for a little while....
-
the 3 transformers series are the only idw i actually read
i have gijoe godzilla tmnt....yet i havent read any
have barely read the star trek stuff
-
TMNT is currently the best comic I read (along with Spider-Man). I also enjoy Star Trek and Judge Dredd.
-
TMNT
transformers More Than Meets The Eye.
Both are class acts.
-
Ghostbusters is my favorite. Bit of a slow/uneven start to the relaunch last year (IMO), but it since feels back on track, and I'm really digging the "Mass Hysteria!" arc so far.
I also really love Wild Blue Yonder, but the wait between issues is killing me. It started in June 2013, and it's only up to four of its six issues, with still no date yet (that I've seen) for #5.

-
TMNT
TMNT minis and micros
Transformers: RIB, MTMTE and Windblade
Samurai Jack
Loving them all.
-
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
-
Their Transformers books are some of the best characterizations of these characters I've ever read. I can't get enough of it. Thundercracker's screenplay scene was hysterical.
-
At the moment. . .
Haunted Horror -Pre-code horror comics from the 50's. What's not to love?
Frankenstein Alive Alive -Whenever it comes out. Bernie Wrightson is producing some goddamn beautiful art.
Waiting for. . .
Winterworld
WEIRD Love
-
The Maxx
Powerpuff Girls
and I can't wait for Weird Love
-
T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and Mars Attacks are my current favorites from IDW. Though not a monthly comic, I also enjoy their collections e.g. Flash Gordon and Rip Kirby.
-
-
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye is one of my favorite books. Robots in Disguise is good, but can't quite measure up to the characterization in MTME.
I also adore G.I. Joe: Real American Hero. Somehow Larry Hama is writing comics that feel exactly the same as the ones I loved as a kid. That is not a complaint, it isn't easy to come back and create new, original stories that can still feed off the readers' sense of nostalgia!
-
I was enjoying TMNT but had to drop it due to budget :(
I may try out Ragnarok though. Simonsons art looks great on the cover alone.
Also keeping an eye on The Beautiful War and Squidder.
-
I love MTMTE, and I want to try Ragnarok this summer.
-
I'm loving Godzilla: Rulers of Earth at the moment. I had high hopes for the series, and I think it's met them. In some cases I think it's even exceeded them. I didn't think I'd take to Zornow's fill in art, but damn if he hasn't provided some lovely work! Anyway, yeah.. absolutely love this series right now!
-
Transformers RID & Frankenstein Alive Alive (when it comes out).
-
I'm liking their Star Trek stuff, though I preferred when they had a variety of Star Trek stuff, rather than just the 1 reboot universe book.
-
Currently, Judge Dredd, Godzilla, Haunted Horror, Popeye, and Star Slammers.
I loved Locke & Key, and haven't tried Bullwinkle & Rocky or THUNDER Agents yet.
-
MTMTE is one of the best comics going today. It lost its way during the mess that was Dark Cybertron but issue 28 is back up to its high standards
-
I liked Locke and Key (except for the last trade which was just anticlimactic and felt rushed), but haven't picked up an IDW book since. Any recommendations?
-
The My Little Pony books are a welcome change from everything else in the industry, and genuinly some of the best reads around.
Of course, they may very well be usurped in their status in a year or two. Hopefully...
-
Frankenstein Alive Alive is a masterpiece. I love how much respect and care IDW has treated this book like the gorgeous cover stock for example. Every time I get a new issue it's like getting a fine piece of art in my hands. Love it.
Also Monster and Madman is great too.
-
Maxx, Dredd and looking forward to the Red Star reprints.
Also, some of their Transformers stuff.
-
I'm liking their Star Trek stuff, though I preferred when they had a variety of Star Trek stuff, rather than just the 1 reboot universe book.
Me too. I especially miss the Spotlight issues they did.
-
Currently reading and loving TMNT. The universe they are building is fantastic with elements from the past comics and cartoons.
-
I read very little IDW. Not a huge fan of licensed comics. But their reprints are good. I buy the TMNT Ultimate Collection HC's, and I like Haunted Horror. Waiting on the promised Maxx hardcover.
-
I'm currently reading the Cartoon Network books, TMNT, Ghostbusters and My Little Pony. I also read More Than Meets The Eye on occasion.
-
IDW is killing it with their cartoon licensed comics. Rocky & Bullwinkle, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, & Dexter's Laboratory are some of my favorite titles currently out, delivering a lot of fun each issue. Of their original content, Locke & Key, Half Past Danger, Kill Shakespeare, & Wild Blue Yonder are all great titles that I read/re-read regularly.
-
TF:MTMTE is my favorite, and I'm so glad it's back to its main story, because I did not enjoy the Dark Cybertron crossover.
I had also been reading RID, and liked it well enough, but I'm hoping for bigger/better things, now that those 'bots are back on Earth, and Optimus is part of the cast.
-
has anyone read the haunted horrors reprint series?
-
I'm wondering how many issues the "24: Underground" series is scheduled to run.
-
Right Now I Like MLP: Friendship is Magic And MLP: Friends Forever
Ditto.
I greatly miss IDW's original G.I. Joe line, though. Mike Costa's work on Cobra and The Cobra Files in particular was absolutely phenomenal. I hope he's not done with the property just yet.
-
I love Dredd, it's probably my favorite comic. Simonson is off to a good year, and 7th Sword has potential.
I'd like to try TMNT, but I dunno where to begin.
-
has anyone read the haunted horrors reprint series?
Yeah, that's pretty much all I read from IDW. It's pretty good, it was my first exposure to Golden Age horror. I prefer the EC books from Fantagraphics, but still have Haunted Horror on my pull list.
-
has anyone read the haunted horrors reprint series?
Same here, one of the very very few Idw titles I read. The dialogue is cheesy as hell(remember its 50's comics here) and most of the stories seem to be scan from the best copies they get, which they're quite good most of the times. I usually like most of the stories that are included with the occasional dud here or there. But for the most part I've been enjoying the series.
If its of any interest to you the folks behind Haunted Horror are also releasing WEIRD Love#1 next week. Except its romance stuff described by them as "collecting the most sexy, bizarre, sick, twisted, politically incorrect, kinky "romance" comics of the 1950s and beyond".
-
Enjoying TMNT New Animated Adventures. I'm mainly reading it in trade though.
-
Thanks for the heads up on Weird Love, added it to my list.
