I don't think it's 'better' to be either honestly, as with everything else there's an up and down side to each.
As a major Introvert I'm fairly sure that without Extroverts to actually market what they come up with Introverts wouldn't accomplish much in the long run. Then again Extroverts would probably be out socializing too much to get any serious research/innovation/invention done without Introverts to do it or encourage them to get involved so I think it balances out in general.
As Dalak said, introverts and extroverts are a yin/yang dynamic necessary to make things happen. Each one supplements what the other lacks.

I like being an introvert. Being an extrovert always looks like being hungry and never full
Each has their place. In the case of extroverts, that place is as far away from introverts as possible.
Don't worry; da bible sez the meek will inherit the earth. That's why christians voted for Trump.

I’ve found the exact opposite to be true. Introverts like their own business, extroverts insist everyone gives them attention all the time, including introverts. Plus they have an annoying habit of trying to “fix” people
You can be both. There are times I just like to be by myself. Other times I like be around people and engaging with them, like at a party.
And there are times I feel lonely and isolated, while other times I feel awkward in a crowd.
I think some here have confused extrovert with egoist.
I am an introvert and I am happy with it. I dont like dealing with with people or leaving my house. I have never wished to have more friends or a better social life.
The introverts stare at their shoes and the extroverts stare at your shoes.
There is nothing wrong with being introverted. But again, extroverts are not egotistical narcissists. Some people like sharing experiences with others and being surrounded by friends.
We could just as easily miss-characterize introverted people as loners who hate others, or scared people who are afraid to interact.
Neither is true for the majority.

Yeah, I thought this was pretty much what the experts say about this. No one is really one or the other.
Yeah, pretty much everyone but Kirby doesn't know what they're talking about.
I'm an introvert, but you'd never guess it watching me in social situations.

I'd confront you vociferously regarding how much I don't know about myself, but as I'm highly introverted I think I'll just sit over here and entertain myself.
I think it's just fluid and a spectrum. Most people are a mix of both
The best explanation I've seen is that extroverts get energy by socialising with other people; introverts lose energy by the same. At the same time, all humans need both alone time and together time (or perhaps better put, quiet time and social time).
Most introverts I know can be very sociable, but we tend to be so in bursts. That's also why you tend to see fans quietly sitting around reading books on the last day of sf cons. It's both quiet and sociable at the same time.
