People are trying to create controversy where there is none to be had. It was all good when you were dropped in the middle of an African civil war and started blowing people away but since this one is in America, now we need to sit down and have a serious political discussion about it.
The whole thing is ridiculous. Gaming as a whole is being infected with people who want to drag all their political/religious/sexual bullshit into every game and it's getting old, to say the least.

I don't know if infected is the right term
but yeah, if someone can play COD and blow away Muslim extremists but then wants to complain about fighting a fundamentalist cult in Montana, they need to reevaluate some things
Word on the street in that Warner could be working on a new Harry Potter game.
really? has there ever been a successful HP game...I liked the Quidditch game from back in the day on GameCube
Oh most of them have been successful actually. Few were good though.
Closed Alpha beta for Battlefront 2 is starting today on Origin.

Thanks. I went ahead and snagged it. Been hyped for this game for a while and it looks like DICE actually learned their lesson from the last game.
Honestly yeah, it does seem to be better.
In terms of gameplay that's pretty much the same (guns kinda feel different though) but finally we have some real content.
And a campaign, i'm pretty hyped for that.
Playing Battlefront 2 Beta is awesome, nice they went and did something for every era of the franchise - you can play Clone vs Droids in Theed with Galactic Assault, attack or defend an Imperial Dockyard over Fondor in Starfighter Assault, and play a surprisingly fun and tactical game of 8v8 Capture the Flag in Takodana with Resistance vs First Order in the mode Strike. There's also the single player Arcade as a practice of sorts, though it's sadly limited to CIS only with a 10v10 AI match against the Clones and a one vs many set up with either Darth Maul or a Super Battle Droid trying to kill 25 clones as quick as possible.
Hard to say which mode is my fav, Galactic Assault is looking to be immensely epic but varied depending on the map going by the Theed/Naboo one. The Droids are great fun to play especially. Getting to gain enough points to play as a hero is nigh on impossible unless you're pretty good and lucky, mind.
Not sure i like that new hero system yeah. They are only be used by a couple of real good players and the rest of us poor mortals we will have to switch to hero specific modes lol.
Ah well, one thing i really, really enjoy is flying now. Which wasn't really the case in the first game but now, i don't know, the ship responds so much more nicely. And space!! Finally. Fondor is a glorious map.
Agreed, the epicness of fighting over a huge Star Destroyer and zipping through the vents of the docks is really fun. Happy to see every era gets one of these epic space battles at launch as we also have a Droid Control Ship over Ryloth with the Clone Wars and a battle over the Resurgent Star Destroyer in the Unknown Regions in the Resistance/First Order era.
oooo intriguing

Which COD game has Muslim extremist? Those games seem pretty carful to not bring things like religion into it. The main villain of that first Modern Warfare game was a Russian Ultranationalists, and this was back when liberals found it problematic to do that kind of thing with Russians (oh how times change) because it's not the '80s anymore you know.
And people have been writing stupid think pieces on the "problematic" nature of the COD games for years. Likewise there was a whole lot of bitching by stupid people about Resident Evil 5, this was all the more funny because the outrage seemed to come from people that don't play video games, and didn't realize all video games aren't made by white Americans.
Anyways, can't say there was much of any "butthurt" over Far Cry 5. There were sites trying to drum up controversy for a bit, but there wasn't actual ever any.

Modern Warfare (the first game) has the character in a Middle Eastern country fighting through an army led by a Muslim general that has killed the countrys president and seized power, I enjoyed Infinite Warfare where you shoot up anti Earth settlement types

It has you fighting terrorist, I don't recall the game ever making an issue about their religion at all. Your assumption would be like saying a GTA game has you in a American city killing Christians.

oh man, that'd go over like a lead balloon
the point being is that shooting brown people in a faraway country, or Russian nationalists, or angry space settlement people never raises an eye
now you set a game in Montana, with a WHITE fundamentalist cult as the villains and some folks get spun up about it
Im buying the game anyway, and it also comes out on my BIRTHDAY so yay
I did chuckle at the Change.org petition someone started decrying FarCry 5's "portrayal of American Christians"
I lost interest in COD yonks ago, it's been pointed out how scripted their stories are and how they try to hit on the head your character losing everything. I swear it's like Michael Bay doing a video game most of the time, plus the multiplayer seems to house some of the worst types I notice. I suppose it's good they're returning to their WW2 roots but given the name suggests the entire conflict and it's only focusing on the usual USA in France battlefield I'm not overly invested. Plus lord it's the Zombies again.
Finally got to have a chance to play a hero in Starfighter Assault, managed to do pretty well as the Empire and blow up the Falcon, which let me unlock the chance to play as Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator. Not as powerful as I thought it would be but a pretty cool ship to pilot all the same.
"Make America Nazi Free Again"
Funnily enough, in my kinda long now gaming career the type of target i killed the most in video game is most likely Germans lol. (used to play quite a lot of WW2 games)
That's weird but at some point WW2 Germans were like orcs in video games you know. No one was giving a ****.
Yeah people just got sick of Nazis in video games, hence why COD switched to Modern Warfare, so that led to this extended period without much WW2 games (or at least any AAA ones) until now where we suddenly have Wolverstein, Sniper Elite and COD WW2.

I felt that way a bit at first, but following the objective gets you a lot of points very quickly. Attacking the MTT when you're on Naboo can get you 1500-2000 points easily (fire the Ion disruptor, unload on the MTT with a sentry gun). You're pretty much guaranteed to get several vehicles or upper tier units at the very least once you get the hang of things.
Also, Rey is a complete monster..

To be fair so is Maul, I've seen him dominate those score boards as well.
Yeah, I've seen Maul do some ridiculous **** more than once. Rey just surprised me because her abilities didn't strike me as that impressive at first (and I rarely see anyone use her) and the first few times I tried to use her, I tried to play her like Maul and got immediately stomped out. I quickly learned the value of seeing enemies through walls and stunning entire squads, though.

What are you fucking talking about? Eyebrows get raised all the time over those CoD Modern Warfare games, and eyebrows were raised over RE5 because it had a white guy killing zombies that were mostly black.
They aren't a WHITE fundamentalist cult, their are black people in it.

Someone make a mod where all the enemies are yarmulke-wearing Wolverines, stat.

I'm talked about the black people you can actually see that are in the footage of the gameplay LOL. Not exactly some WHITE fundamentalist cult if they've got black people running around as members.
So micro-transactions have become a serious pet peeve lately I see between Loot Crates in SW: BF2, Shadow of War and Faizia 7. Personally I've been enjoying the Battlefront 2 beta but I can also see why people could be worried about a pay to win like system in that game, especially when this is a full priced game and not just cosmetics like Overwatch.
Yeah, those micro-transactions are all kind of infuriating really.
Especially when it's going to directly influence the actual gaming experience. I mean, i don't mind cosmetic stuff, if you want to spend 10 bucks on a fancy digital scarf, be my guest. I don't understand why you do it, but it doesn't bother me. (why though dude lol? Why?)
Now, pay to win? Hell, if it's how it's going to be then it will be with friends and/or solo only for me cause very little things can make my blood boils faster than a pay to win system.
The game seems awesome so far though, great beta. It puts Battlefront 1 to shame.
Can anyone explain to me in what way that the selling of blind lootboxes is legitimately different than a slot machine? Other than the fact that a slot machine gives out stuff that you can use outside of that particular casino?

Oh so this is where the Battlefront II Beta is being discussed! Anyway, I'm perfectly fine with these loot crates for now. As of right now, they honestly don't seem to give me that much of an advantage. My three star cards, first order weapon, and 1 modification to the weapon hasn't particularly saved my kill streak. I still die just as easily. Still takes skill.
Also, as long as the loot crates are able to be obtained for free, even the most powerful ones. One or two exclusives cards for pre order is fine. I like the progression of buying these crates, I like my character at least being able to come a little bit stronger. Also replacing abilities is really fun to change up my gameplay style. Reminds me of Lost Planet 2's abilities.

Okay, so the ESRB's answer to this is that, as all lootboxes give you *something*, that means that there is zero chance of not getting anything, which is the difference between lootboxes and actual gambling. I guess that means that all virtual casinos need to do is make it so that any bet guarantees at least 1 cent returns and the ESRB will no longer list them as containing gambling.
