Yo is anybody paying attention to heroes reborn/ heroes return? According to the return preview T'Challa hot. New upgrade to vibranium. Superspeed. Which makes sense given the Kinect power introduced to it. Seems he is taking on Marvel's flash. JA giving our boy all the cool stuff lol

T'Challa using the kinetic energy in the suit to enhance his speed for this kind of situation is something I've been saying for years now. It's good to see that someone is being creative with that aspect of the suit.

it feels like everyone has been creative with it other than the creator lol
the Real Avengers just came back in the splash page of the last issue, so who knows.
Also, Wakanda is a myth/hidden or something. Can't remember lol.
Alternate reality shennanigans where the "not Justice League" runs **** basically .
That's based on the Squadron Supreme, right?

Yep, you and I have had plenty of conversations. Super strength in punches, and kicks by focusing the energy into a concentrated point, using it to jump higher, using it to reduce fall damage, using it to transfer into objects director push them at rapid speeds. Doing this allows him ways to fight above his weight class while not making him overpowered because it's based on who he is fighting

Yea, they're building on the established capabilities of the suit in ways we should've been seeing these last few years. I don't think (or want) T'Challa to have consistent speedster-level movement speed, but it makes perfect sense for him to be able to channel kinetic energy in a way that gives him temporary bursts of speed. I liked some of the other things you brought up as well, T'Challa basically can release kinetic energy from any point on his body, he should be able to do some wild things without necessarily being OP because as you said, he basically scales with his opponents.
Aaron's slowly climbing up the lists of writers I'd want to see take on the BP solo, he's showing an interest in T'Challa's capabilities and a handle on his personality that feels like he's an actual fan and not just phoning it in.

Bruh, I have so many ideas for Kinect energy uses. Strength scaling, jumping capabilities, temporary speedster, energy dispersal (think like when he and Erik fell down the shaft except he intentionally disperses all that Kinect energy to land softly while blowing away enemies in an omniwave.) Energy nullification. Say someone shoots an RPG at him, he literally catches the rocket by robbing it of it's energy, and uses said energy to rocket it back at them and then some with any other Kinect energy absorbed... The creativity with the force push is grand and like it's been said, he scales with his opponents, the Stronger they are, the more it works against them.
Yeah I would say Redjack, Ewing, and JA are my choices. Despite his run as a whole, his T'Challa has been more than solid
Been loving all the ideas here for how the Panther Habit's kinetic energy absorption/redirection can and should work, especially given Jason Aaron apparently canonizing one of them in the Black Panther vs. Blur fight/race coming up in Heroes Return. Would love to see them incorporated on a more consistent basis, let alone at all. Maybe we'll get that with the next writer that comes in.
Continuing my reading, I just read Black Panther & The Crew.
I would argue this is Coates's most consistent story. It's relatively well-paced with a good balance of intrigue and action. I like the changing perspective per issue with different voices. I didn't quite buy Manifold's, but I liked the rest. I like Guice's art a lot throughout.
The story works decently well as a prequel to the Crew showing up in Black Panther. It also works really well as a Secret Empire prequel. I'm in the minority because I enjoyed that story quite a bit and I love the scope of Hydra's reach and all the ways it got used as a metaphor. I'm sad to say that the story is just as timely right now and is likely to continue to be timely. I like the little bits of exploration of each character. I thought it was cool that it's revealed that Storm went to Harlem during the Australia era just like Wolverine went to Madripoor.
What it isn't as good at is a Black Panther story. I wish the story was just called "The Crew." It wouldn't lead to false expectations. That being said, the shot at the end was a cool one. I wish we could have seen more stories with this team - especially with T'Challa in his Luke Charles guise and all that.
I know most in this thread aren't reading Aaron's Avengers, but he's given T'challa a lot of feats. I'm not saying his run is perfect in every regard, but T'Challa comes off looking like that Dude more often than not

I think what you've just said is pretty much the same way we all feel about T'Challa in Jason Aaron's Avengers. Not a particularly great Avengers run but a badass T'Challa.

I've only liked the Vampire arc and the Khonshu arc (the phoenix one was tolerable mess but cool action i guess) but T'challa has been written with nothing but respect the whole time.

Like seriously, if Marvel is only going to get Black writers for the main Black Panther title, could they at least give Aaron a side BP title that he could write?

I'd love to see him handle an anthology mini focusing on BPs throughout history but I don't like his Avengers BC idea so maybe that's the wrong book for him lol. Maybe he can add some more info to T'Challa's background in a book exploring his training and travels before becoming king? I actually think he'd do a solid job on an Agents of Wakanda or Black Panther and the Crew kind of book, because it plays into the geopolitics he's been building in the main Avengers book but actually place focus on it. He'd be able to show T'Challa leading a group of non-Wakandan allies dealing with stuff like Russia and Nighthawk instead of off-paneling most of the good stuff.
Aaron on a Shuri spin-off book could be interesting, I think he'd probably do a good job of mixing the MCU and Hudlin influences while carving out her own space. Hell maybe World of Wakanda would work for him, just focus on an expansive cast of BP supporting characters like Okoye, Vibraxas, Zawavari, etc. and set the story in Wakanda as a depiction of how things operate when T'Challa is working abroad. I think Aaron's showing a basic level of respect and interest in the character that seems rare nowadays so I'd be down for him to write anything BP-related.
JA should of been writing BP AoW. It was his idea and his concept and I feel like if he was writing it, it would of lasted more than 6 issues and actually went somewhere. The book wasted too much time on D listers with practically zero fan following and squandered the opportunity to show what AoW could do that shield couldn't, as well as how much more dangerous a Wakandan led team is in terms of espionage. Really Janet and Roz should of been the only non Wakandans, then led by Okoye, Kasper's on deck, and maybe Akili as they all go on high powered missions. Maybe could of even replaced Roz with widow and added WS too if needed. Or Nick fury.
