Bet Newsarama hid a fourth page somewhere to screw with me.

Did we really need a reboot of Miguel's origin?
-
Aw man, is this really just another reboot of his origin? We did that a decade ago, remember? They made him like a teenager with a similar origin to Peter for no good reason, then promptly forgot it. The original origin issues are great as they are.
-
It’s all just a thinly veiled attempt to reboot the 2099 line.
Miguel’s prior origin was fine why change it?

Seems like it, but at least they're not making him a teenager again, and the origin still seems to be incorporating the weaponization of genetic mutation for Alchemax's sinister purposes, as well as the body horror aspects of the original. If the version of Venom 2099 that came out yesterday is anything to go by . . . we may be in for a serious hell-ride.

As much as the 2099 storyline in ASM has been a big shoulder shrug for me, the side one-shots have all been really decent. I'll definitely pick this up.

Not so thinly veiled, though the word I'm betting Marvel would use is "update," as 2099 first came out in the 1990s and technology, society, and our understanding of both have advanced a great deal in the 25+ years since then.

Does the new 2099 really seem that different from the old one, though? It still seems like your typical Cyberpunk-esque future setting.

Fair enough, though the whole point of 2099 was cyberpunk meshed with Marvel superheroes. Even William Gibson, one of the first architects of the genre, admitted that he barely knew anything about computers when he wrote Neuromancer, so I would still say there's room for a new take on 2099 with maybe a fresher perspective.

I'm just hangry for more actually new stuff from God. Which means...
we need a reboot of miguel's origin
-
Honestly it doesn't make sense to do that in the first place seeing as so much as five years into the future being set in stone is utterly laughable. Creative teams as much as the changing direction of the company will of course change the future of the Marvel universe, not the fourth reboot within ten years.
Why did anything need to change either? We ended the last book on a new status-quo.

Personally I would advance the year to 2199 if you are doing this kind of reboot
Also I'm a bit annoyed whenever Miguel is drawn looking too similiar to Peter
but I want to give it a chance
