I don't know if Lucas Film just had something planned or if it was supposed to Tie-into Dooku coming to Battlefront 2. But this thing didn't really have a reason to exist.
I'd argue that Anakin issue was even a worse offender because it just comes off as a missing Clone Wars episode.

I'd much prefer a slightly route lost clone wars episode feel to a story than the utter drek we've gotten in the Padme and Grevious issues.
