[QUOTE=lancerman;230736]Spoilers from the leaked pilot. Don't read if you want to be surprised.
[spoil]Barry was adopted by Iris West's father, who is an authority on the police force. Barry is pretty much a son to him. Iris views Barry as a brother, does not view him as a potential romantic interest. Mr West was also one of the detectives who arrived on Barry's mom's murder scene.[/spoil][/QUOTE]
I got to see this during upfronts but since people have seen the pilot now and are talking about it, I'd like to clarify once again that
[spoil]Barry was NOT adopted by Iris's dad, he 'took him in' which is totally different, and Iris, while clearly not viewing Barry romantically, also makes a point to say 'its not like we're brother and sister, so I get that its weird talking to me about girls you like' and there was a very pointed effort to convey that while extremely close, the two do not view each other as sharing a sibling bond.[/spoil]

I played a little game of "this reminds me of that"
Some things from the comics, some things from other movies and TV shows
Fun episode, really hope there is no quality drop as the show goes on
-
Im wondering if this was a leak or a 'leak'...as in deliberately let out to gauge interest
-
Damn, the pilot's already been leaked? I want to see it now!
-
I also heard a certain character's name being dropped by Iris to Barry. It's probably just a throwaway line but I liked it. She says:
[spoil]"Okay, I am ready to see this Atom Smasher... smashing"[/spoil]
-
There were a lot of references this episode. This show appears to be taking it's cues very much from the comics.
-
[spoil]Why did they make Professor Zoom a transfer cop from Keystone City? That seems more like Zoom's (Hunter Zolomon) background than Thawne's.[/spoil]
-
cherry picking elements from what works...nothing wrong there
adaptations tend to do that

True, but I think it would have been cooler to make him a scientist like Barry, but still from the future. Maybe a new partner in the forensics department who mysteriously shows up as opposed to a regular cop.
-
eh, not really...that actually sounds very hackneyed
Im a scientist, youre a scientist too...lets be buddies

I have more of a problem that the guy who they cast as Thawne looks and acts way more like Barry Allen then the guy they cast to play Barry Allen.
-
My bigger problem is that their appears to be another character with Thawne's regular MO. Unless shenanigans and trickery are at play.

I'm thinking Thawne and that character( whose name is escaping me) are working together and Thawne may have warned him about [spoil] Crisis on Infinite Earths[/spoil].

This is shaping up to be awesome.

[spoil]I don't think so. Harrison Wells (for H.G. Wells, the author of The Time Machine?) is obviously from the future (remember his speech : "the future is closer than you think") and he's probably Eobard Thawne in disguise. Eddie Thawne is a red herring and might be his ancestor.[/spoil]
