Were Sinister's Maraurders prototypes for the resurrection protocol?

Sinister's Maraurders have been around since the mid 80s and most of them have been killed off at some point but its explained that they keep coming back bc Sinister has cloned them. What never made sense though was that the clones had the exact same personalities and memories of their dead precursors but that might now be explained by whats happened in Dawn of X. We know that Xavier approached Sinister years ago so could he possibly have been experimenting with Sinister to perfect the Cerebro mind back up and transfer on his Maruarder clones before he started doing it large scale with the husks created by the Five? What do people think?

And if so, does Xavier bare any responsibility for the Mutant Massacre and the carnage the Maraurders have done since then?

Well the current continuity would imply that a similar event happened to the X-Men in one of Moira's previous lives and when she came to this timeline, she told Charles to include Sinister's resurrection methods in their plans to reverse the mutant population decline. Mutant Massacre would still be all Sinister's fault; Magneto was in charge and both he and Charles would've had to let it happen and on the whole the X-Men didn't know who Sinister was until they beat him up during Inferno.

The last official explanation for the Mutant Massacre that I can recall was that in actuality, the Morlocks were the result of Dark Beast's experiments when he was flung back into 20 years in the past at the end of the original AoA. Sinister noticed this(strange permutations of his own work, as Dark Beast worked with Sinister in AoA), and wanting to cull this external interference with 616's genetics, he ordered the Marauders to clean it up.

If that's all so, then really it's Moira's fault, because she broke Charles's heart on purpose and matched him with Gabrielle so they would produce David, who was ultimately responsible for the Age of Apocalypse, and thus in turn, there being a Dark Beast to make the Morlocks in the first place....

Yes, it does seem so now, decades later, doesn't it?

No, Xavier doesn't bare any responsibility. We keep talking about Sinister in the singular like he isn't a mercurial collective of different personalities and impulses. If you make a deal with Sinister on Monday, you have no guarantee he'll be the same man on Tuesday, or willing to honor the word of an inferior `replaced` Sinister.

I honestly hate this new Sinister paradigm(with all the multitudes of Sinisters). Much prefer the classic version.

Wow Moira’s fingerprints everywhere... crazy how Hickman made this minor change but big implications on X-men history.

This particular corner has been built and rebuilt enough that there isn't much of a point in trying to work out where to pin the blame.

In PoX's last issue we found out that The Five and Resurrections in general were Life X Xavier's original idea, not Moira's. And that it was the reason behind Legion and Proteus. And going to Sinister was Charles and Erik's idea, Moira was not involved.
