I agree. I really enjoyed her work on these two issues.
I’m having a hard time deciding if I want to keep this on my pull list.
Ah come on. Don't say that lol. Ultron Agenda and Iron Man 2020 are coming up my friend. Big things are happening for Tony Stark: Iron Man.

Glad to hear it.

I will say I am looking forward to the Ultron storyline!

That’s cool. I’m pretty hyped for it to. They have big plans for Tony and company.
We agree on the pros. I think the whole run was amazing. On the negatives I loved the art. I thought him basing his Tony on Sawyer from Lost was pretty cool lol. I'm a HUGE Fraction fan, but the Knauf's Mandarin was much better than his version. We totally agree about Gillen fridging Maya. I was PISSED to say the least. I can't wait until we see your opinion of the adoption storyline. Be sure to let us know.
Finished Gillen's run.
Pros-
-I like the continued use of Extremis. Such an interesting and unique part of the Iron Man lore and like seeing it come back.
-Liked the tone and humor of the book. Thought it was a nice middle ground between Snarky MCU Tony and brooding comic Tony
-Art was decent
-Space Adventure was fun and different
Negatives
- The last two arcs with the Rings of the Mandarins just fell flat to me.
- Didn't really like any of the new characters that were introduced, especially that annoying reporter.
- Didn't like the new Suit. Black and Gold would be cool for a one off variant but I miss the Red and Gold (liked the space suit tho). Also modular suit seemed a step back from Extremis and Bleeding Edge.
- Maya dying in the first scene was gross and a waste of a character.
My thoughts on the adoption reveal:
I have known about it for a while and it still left a nasty taste in my mouth. Its like finding out the Wayne's were not Bruce's parents. I think Tony's complicated history with Howard was a unique relationship but now the extra layer of Tony not being Howard's biological son makes it messy. I did think introducing Arno was interesting but I wish they did it another way. Also reading Gillen's reason for creating this unneeded twist made me even more disappointed.
Superior Iron Man next

I thought Gillens best arcs were Believe(Even though he fridged Maya) and Rings of The Mandarin. I liked that Tony and his brother built a city together. I love when Tony does stuff like that. I liked that he had a magic specialist on staff to help him deal with magic. The 3 things I hated the most about Gillens run were the adoption, fridging Maya and making the Mandarins rings into green lantern rings. Also I loved that he had a brother, but as you stated they could have brought that about a better way. Really enjoyed the black and gold armor even though like you stated it was a step back. Superior Iron Man was really great stuff. My only knock is that it was to short. Looking forward to your thoughts on that as well.
Original Sin Iron Man vs. Hulk is my favorite story from both Gillen's run and Waid's Indestructible Hulk. Go back and read it!

We are in such total agreement it's not even funny! I loved the Original Sin mini Iron Man vs. Hulk. It was the only thing worth a damn that came from Original Sin imo.

Beautiful. I always love Chen's Iron Man. Him and Busiek were just great with there run.
The 3 things I hated the most about Gillens run were... making the Mandarins rings into green lantern rings.
Yeah, i hated that with a burning passion. The Mandarin is an Übermensch master of science, martial arts, and political/economic manipulation. You can't replace him by just jacking up the power of the rings to ridiculous levels and handing them out.
Just finished issue 12 of Tony Stark: Iron Man and I enjoyed the 2 issue fill in by Simone. It was solid. I love how Tony went back to the Mark I to fight the dragon. Really looking forward to the next issue were Tony and Carol talk about their sobriety and why Tony can't be her sponsor anymore.

Exactly. It was the Mandarin that made himself formidable. The rings added to him.
