Marauders #6 Spoilers
Well.
That was a lot.
If Shaw seemingly drowning Kitty is, in fact, Duggan bringing the mystery of her exile from Krakoa to a head within the book's first arc, my hat's off to him. That's the sort of thing a writer might coast on for way too long, when answering the question doesn't actually resolve the issue.
I'm still not feeling the Hellfire Brats redux here, but at least they're bringing some interesting guest stars with them.

They’re gonna’ revive her fine. But she’s not going to remember this confrontation with Shaw, due to when Chuck did his last back up and Shaw is gonna shit bricks when she walks into the council chamber.
More importantly, we’re not going to know Lockheed’s fate for a while.
That’s three of the Quiet Council who have been killed now. Jolly careless of them.
-
It seems a rare thing these days for a comic to really shock me but this did it. I kinda had an X-Force moment at the end.
I knew Sebastian was up to filth but seeing him in cahoots with Christian was a blow. Involved with the armor as well.
Poor Lockheed too.
Some had speculated that Shinobi would be in on it but it seems not. Emma is going to lose it.
On a lighter note, and I said this in the other thread, but it's cool that Bobby is going to guest judge on Drag Race. It shows at least that segment of humanity is fine with mutants and wants to highlight one.

In house (or powers of x) emma said bring shaw in was a bad idea. The moral of this is Emma is always right and should be in chargeb

She should be in charge? oh hell no
Did Pyro die too?
Nope, Pyro now has a spy in the cab and is still around.
-
I'm praying that Kate and Lockheed are somehow saved. Let it be Namor or an unknown water breathing mutant and I'm so crushed by Christian's dealings with Shaw. I don't expect it to happen two issues from now but when the time comes. I PRAY that Mama's revenge on Shaw for nearly killing Kate "if she's not actually killed", betraying Krakoa, and his several attempts to usurp her position of White Queen. I want her revenge on him to be something the X-Board will remember twenty years from now
-
I don't know where I stand on Christian, tbh. I have a hard time believing he'd be so naive as to be taken in over a "friendly drink"; he may have been the "nice" Frost once upon a time, but that doesn't mean stupid, and I'm sure Emma's given him an earful about Shaw.

Hmm. Sebastian did say he enjoys women and men at some point, right? Hmm.
What do we think Yellowjacket is going to find out aside from Pyro's lingerie tastes? Resurrection protocols exposure would be no bueno.
-
Christian could be playing Shaw. But I'm getting the all men are trash vibe from this issue. Poor Emma
Also YellowJacket should be detected by krakoa

I'm hoping Emma saw this coming and had Christian go along with it to trap Shaw later. If not, problems.

Should he? the agents of Xeno could use the skin of Domino to be detected as mutants.

Apparently I'm the only one who read the Shaw/Christian scene as Shaw simply manipulating Christian using his relationship with Iceman? It doesn't show Christian being aware of anything to do with Kitty. It's a narrative montage flashback...

Could we get a more in depth list of what happened this issue like in the other spoiler topics? You guys have me curious
Could we get a more in depth list of what happened this issue like in the other spoiler topics?
YES, please....
-
You know I read it twice and as far as the Christian thing IDK it's left somewhat obscure, not like he said let's just kill the bitch. At the same time why would they show him and Shaw having a drink while Shaw explaining his evil plot unless it's going somewhere. It could be flipped either way truthfully.
Anyway despite all the fuckery Shaw actually didn't break a single one of Krakoas dumb laws. So even if all this shit comes too light can they even punish him? Bobby and Ororo might murder him out of passion if they get the chance, but something tells me they'll probably end up blaming Emma I bet that's why Storm and Emma come to blows in the upcoming issue!
-
Didn’t one of the Sinister Secrets hint at Namor?

But it did show it. Sebastian said to him that once they killed Kate, he would get Iceman.
Also, why are people surprised? Didn't Christian kill his father in cold blood and then took over his fortune? This actually makes him more interesting IMO. Though gong along with Kate getting killed JUST so he can get Bobby, does sound ridiculous.

Left mine at work, but I'll try:
-Previews of Kate saving Iceman in his ice form from a sword. She then saves Pyro but then gets distracted and Pyro gets shot.
-We then learn Yellowjacket is now inside Pyro's bloodstream and he was hired by the Hellfire Brats who want to learn Krakoa's dirty secrets.
-Kate tells Hatemonger and Executioner that she isn't afraid of them. They battle.
-We learn they are working with Donald Pierce and the Chinese lady. They claim Madripoor immunity but Kate don't care.
-Storm arrives and together they get throw Pierce an Chinese lady into ocean.
-For some reason, Kate stays alone in her boat while the rest of her team goes to Krakoa.
-Alone, Kate is surprised by Sebastian who has a seed/plant that entraps Kate. Sebastian also captures Lockheed, knocks him out, and throws him to ocean.
-Kate begs Sebastian to let Lockheed live and she'll do what he wants but he doesn't care.
-Sebastian reveals that he hired Pierce, and set it up to make Emma/Kate think they were saving Shinobi.
-Sebastian revelas Cristin Frost helped him since with Kate dead, Christian would get Iceman.
-Kate says she will be resurrected if killed but Sebastian seems confident she won't be revived cause Krakoa doesn't like her.
-We see Kate trapped fall into Ocean and then it looks like she drowned while Shaw smiled on.
-We also get a data page of Yellojacket living in Pyro and it's pretty silly.

Okay attack is still going on. Bobby got his shit rocked so Kate comes to the rescue we get a Nazi Reference Kate kicks ass, yellowjacket ends up inside Pyro who still looks like Shao Kahn with that damn tatoo. Shinobi, Bishop, and Storm try to escape on Shinobi's ship.
Back to Kate Some motherfucker named Donald F*****g Pierce pops up along with some Asian butch lesbian looking bitch named Chen Zhao I honestly dont know who the fuck they are! Turns out one was an Ambassador for Madripoor. Kate attacks one claims diplomatic immunity gets mollywhopped regardless by Kate cause she's a rebel....
Bishop and Storm get their powers back lightning ensues aswell as Bishops energy rebound thing..... They get tossed overboard battle is over yay...
Bobby finally decides to get the fuck up after just laying downstairs in a speedo being protected by a purple mini dragon the whole issue. Bobby and Storm want to accompany Kate back home but Bobby has to be Guest Judge on RuPaul's drag race (Deadass about that) and Storm needs to get back to Krakoa asap for whatever reason so Kate sends them off aswell as the rest of the team.
Fast forward Kate's alone shaw attacks. Traps her and Lockheart, tosses poor Lockheart overboard in a net. Traps Kate sinks the ship she's on reveals his master plan he hired them too attack put his son in Jeopardy yet again. May or may not be working with Christian, proceeds to brag about how Kate can't be resurrected and that Emma is next to go. Kate proceeds to swear she'll be back and promises revenge proceeds to drown and is now probably dead the end!

Usually happens anytime a hero gets “killed” or presumably killed in the trenches of the ocean.

What usually happens? We haven't had anyone die in the ocean since Krakoa right?

I’m talking about Namor rescuing heroes in the ocean after having them presumed dead, as just a simple MU rule.

Ah ok!
Namor would fit in this book but I have a feeling he won't save Kate. Maybe Lockheed wakes up and frees himself and then saves Kate at last min?
-
This was a very good issue.
I wonder if Storm will blame herself for turning down the role in the first place.
With all the reveals I'm glad Pyro wasn't a traitor.
Enjoying him very much so.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually does die and we find out what’s been going on with her or there’s a last-minute rescue.
-

Might be right. Don't they face off against each other in an upcoming issue?
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if she actually does die and we find out what’s been going on with her or there’s a last-minute rescue.
I guess it depends on how soon they plan to reveal why she can't go through Krakoan gates...
Also, Sebastian mentioned having his own white queen and next issue is a cover of Callisto dressed in white...

Exactly what I was thinking. At the very least Christian knew Shaw was looking to knock Kate off the board. Perhaps he didn't know about her getting killed but he knew this was a plot against his sister. Sucks.
@#!*in' Shaw involved with the power-dampening tech. I wonder if he's been involved with all the others we've seen in other books too.
P.S. Nice to see Pierce have his ass handed to him, although once he did what he was supposed to do, he probably didn't care.
-
Wouldn't be surprised if this was an astral illusion by Christian frost to get shaw to play his hand. Christians illusions can be physical.
-
Shaw has played his hand and I CAN'T WAIT!!! for the council to annihilate him. For the laws he's broken, he deserves every Arrako-awful thing they do to him.
-
I'm very surprised Shaw played his hand so quickly. It also seems short sighted to think Kate wouldnt be in telepathic contact with Emma if not all the telepaths on the island. I would also hope that Christian, while having a duplicitous past, would not be so quick to turn...but it is nice to see internal conflicts on the island start to percolate.
It was also nice to see some history noted and it seems Storm might still hold a grudge against Forge for creating the mutant dampening technology the suits might be built from.
The biggest complaint I have with this issue is the art. Very much not to my liking. While Lolli is serviceable, Del Pennino very much was not to my liking. I would prefer a stronger artist all the way around (Dauterman would be insane here).
...what's Kenneth Rocafort doing...?
-
I think this is going to play out in a couple of ways!
1. Over the next two issues Storm and Emma go to island M with everyone else to find Kate. They find Kate missing, or they discover Kate is dead.
2. Emma blames Storm for leaving Kate alone, Storm thinks Emma was part of the conspiracy. Emma and Storm come to blows, and they are being goaded on by an outside force that takes advantage and takes Storm.
3. This leads into the Giant Size Jean and Emma - Jean and Emma rescue Storm from whoever took her in Marauders 8.
4. Now a bit more on the same page, Emma and Storm do everything in their power to see Kate resurrected.
5. Emma could very well go on a revenge mission with the intention of killing everyone who was involved in Kate's death, and I mean everyone. Emma tends to go a bit crazy when people she loves are hurt, and I could see her going extreme here!
6. This could very well rock the Quiet Council, especially if Emma just walks up and kills Sebastian right at the table!
7. Depending if Emma is able to act more calmly and work with Kate and Storm on resolving this, then it might go more peaceably, but it really depends on how far Emma wants to take her revenge for what they did to Kate.
I do know Emma cares a lot about Kate, probably loves Kate as much as the Cuckoos, so I can't see Emma taking this well. I could easily see Emma and Storm arguing about this and both of them getting violent about it and blaming each other!
I know this leads into the Giant Size Jean and Emma, because in February the releases are Marauders 7, then Marauders 8, then Giant Size Jean and Emma. So at minimum there are 3 more parts to this story.
Jean will probably be the calming influence in this, helping Emma rescue Storm, then together they all work to get Kate resurrected!
It does not.
The direct quote is: "Between you and me, they can't resurrect the Red Queen, and I surmise that's why Iceman won't join your crew. He's too busy safeguarding some feeble half-mutant girl."
To me this planted the seed for Christian's conversation with Iceman. It doesn't necessarily even suggest Shaw is talking about actually killing Kitty with Christian (Christian could have easily just said, "I wish Iceman would join my crew" right before it), much less that Christian has done anything to help.
It gives motive to support the idea of Christian being involved, but hasn't committed to going that direction; I think that is Shaw manipulating the situation.
I'm way over invested in this. hahaha.

Why are you so quick to believe the the libertine with the four decade long track record of murder and betrayal? Until you see Christian on panel conspiring, ya best take Lord hairy chest's words with a grain (bucketful) of salt.
