They actually had a TV show during the mid-late 70's!
I used to watch it every week myself, FWIW.

ok, listening to it again, that might be the one "cool" song DeBarge every recorded. It's quite the jam compared to their other pop ditties.

Which I watched regularly.
That show, and the American Graffiti soundtracks, were my gateway to '50's rock and pop.

I used to be embarrassed to admit I like K-Pop. I guess it depends on who I'm talking to now.
Confession time! Unburden your musical souls! :)
What "unhip," "uncool" music are you embarrassed to admit liking, but can't help liking?
Well, as a 51 year old black/Harley rider/Army veteran/gym rat/yeah I collect comics but nerds are cool now/guy, i’m STILL not going to admit to thinking Taylor Swift is pretty damn catchy anywhere other than online, i’ll tell you that much! :p

They may sound sappy, but great "make-out" music.

I am friends with several women in their 40s and 50s who are absolutely nuts for K-Pop. So I know more about this stuff than I ever expected to.

Not much mention of the 'Fourth' Bee Gee, namely Andy Gibb with "An Everlasting Love", a bubbly pop hit I've always liked:

A few years back, I was trying to explain to my sister what Schlager music is and I was struggling, because I only had a limited understanding of it myself, but I thought it was silly. Then when I got home, I was looking on youtube at all the different kinds of Schlager music and I realized I actually liked it a lot.
Since it includes a wide variety of styles and performers, it would be hard to pick out one as an example. But Klubbb3 is a recent supergroup that plays to the broad middle of what Schlager should be. The drei in Klubb3 are three stars that already had long solo careers: Florian Silbereisen--he started out a child star on the accordion and has been the longtime host of many Schlager programs, he's also the partner of Helene Fischer, possibly the greatest female singer outside of the English speaking world--Jan Smit--the Dutch singer who started out in a boy band at the age of ten--and Christoff (de Bolle) the Flemish Schlager singer.
