Best Comprehensive Archie Stories from Decades Past

Howdy folks!

I'm curious if a solid Archie story exists out there where one creative team was on an Archie book (it could be Jughead, Betty and Veronica, Life with Archie, etc). and told a comprehensive story over the course of one to two years or so. Or at least one writer told a long-running story with one of/all of the characters.

This would exclude "the Death of Archie" series, "Jughead's Time Police," etc. I'm not looking for events, or niche titles. I'm looking for a good long-running Archie story where the characters are taken through some drama within the pages of one of the flagship books. Classic Archie with continuity.

If the kind of thing I'm looking for existed I anticipate it would have been published at some point between the mid-1980s and around 2005 or so. (Before the books began to struggle to find their footing).

I'd heard a rumor of a great run on Jughead that saw him going through some serious, well-grounded drama. Can't seem to dig it up though.

Would love suggestions.
