It's return has caught me by surprise. For some reason I thought we were another month away. Great news!
I also thought it was farther off, but no, it is tomorrow!
I've just checked out Dark Horse's July solicitations and there is no Black Hammer: Age of Doom #4 in there, but there is this...
The Quantum Age: From the World of Black Hammer #1
Jeff Lemire (W), Wilfredo Torres (A/Cover), Dave Stewart (C), and Christian Ward (Variant cover)
On sale July 4
FC, 32 pages
$3.99
Ongoing
Set in the world of the Eisner Award-winning Black Hammer series—but a thousand years in the future—a collection of superheroes, inspired by the legendary heroes of Black Hammer Farm, must band togetherto save the planet from an authoritarian regime. A young Martian must find a way to reform The Quantum League to save the world whilesolving the riddle of what happened to the great heroes of the twentieth century.
Surely they won't be pausing the main series and replacing it with this for a while? Age of Doom will only be 3 issues in by July
Could just be a skip month to introduce this. Hoping people will check it out if there's no main BH issue? I'm not sure.
Whoa! Lemire is doing Justice League?? How did I miss this news??
I got mixed up. It's Scott Synder who's taking over Justice League. Jeff did a run on Justice League America a couple of years ago.
Is Sherlock Frankstein any good or relevant for the main book? Was considering getting it, but I was informed a few days ago of David Rubin's toxic online behavior, which is enough to put me off the book. He's the guy that calls readers he disagrees with "cocksuckers."
Hell, informing myself more, it seems that Rubin is hated by some pros in Spain. Supposedly, he almost had a fist fight with Pere Perez, a Spanish artist for Marvel /DC, at a comic con for some petty reasons.
Woah, what?! I've never seen any of that from him.

This is where I was informed. I went to Rubin's Facebook page... and he does not even bother to hide his behavior from the public. There are some post where he goes batsh*t crazy towards people that disagree with whim. The post that tweet links to is one example. The readers that say he is going too far are met with scorn. Not even authors like Dan Slott are as condescending and obnoxious.
I was as surprised as you. If he wrote in English and were more famous, Dark Horse would have fired him on the spot.

Like you say, hopefully it's just a skip month. I was hoping for a break from the spin-offs for a while. I'll still be buying The Quantum Age though.

No worries. I looked into it afterwards and found out it was Snyder.

I had no idea about any of this either!
Well that's a shame. I'm a big fan of his work.
Did anybody read the FCBD story?

It was my first exposure to Black Hammer.
Unfortunately, I wasn't really impressed with it.
