I mispronounced Mxyzptlk forever. I wanna say it was The Animated Series that set me right.
Even though I know the word for some reason I want to pronounce "Maestro" Hulk as "MYestro".

Oh man, I hate "Mixelplick"'s pronunciation from Super-Friends so much! He's fine as a character, his name is just, you know, not "Mixelplick"!

I still don't know how to say it.

Which is why I go with the tongue-easy "Mixelplick" and don't worry about the correct pronunciation. :)
I'm curious how are people pronouncing
Jaime Reyes.
Not to derail this thread, but since we're talking pronunciations, I have a question.
Different people pronounce Aunt differently. Some say 'ont' and others say 'ant'. So how do you pronounce Zatanna? is it 'Zatonna' or 'Zatanna'
I'm guessing you're american.
From here in England, it looks like Americans don't actually have an "o" sound at all - and either use "ah" or "aw" in it's place.
So to us, "aunt" is pronounced "ahnt" (the same as aren't) - never "ont" - but I think that's probably what you're talking about.
For me personally it's:
Zat-ann-a, not Zat-ah-na
A-qua-man not Ah-qua-man
Loo-thur not Loo-thor
Ones I got wrong:
I thought "Lois" was pronounced l-oy-ss
I thought Andy Helfer was Andy Hefler.
I just didn't heve a clue about Doug Moench (now know it's pronounced Mench)

Yeah, I probably should've used 'ahnt' in my example instead of 'ont'. I was trying to convey my pronunciation, but it's probably more accurate to use 'Zatahna'. Thanks.
As a kid I always mispronounced Saturn Girl’s name Imra as Irma or Er-ma in my head.
Also mutant as mute-nant.
For years, I mispronounced Despero. I called him 'Despair-o'. Then I saw a cartoon which properly called him 'DESSpero'
Until this century, I always pronounced Shiera or Shayera as SHEER-uh.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, for years I thought that Amazo was pronounced the same way at the rainforest, or Wonder Woman's people, if you just took off the "N" on the end and gave it a long O: "Am-uh-zoe". I didn't realize it was pronounced "Amaze-Oh" until I saw the animated Batman: Under the Hood.
To this day I don't know how anyone was supposed to know it's pronounced "Amaze-Oh" by reading the word.

I pronounced him "Desperado". It was ages before I realised the name has no "ad" in it. It still feels like half a name.
When Starfire made her debut in the New Teen Titans, I was puzzled on how to pronounce "Koriand'r". Finally, I decided on "coriander", like the herb, or, just plain "Kory".

I used to think "Mitzel-plick", but now I hear Gilbert Gottfried's explanation in my head.

I wouldn't just go by the cartoon. I still think "despair-o" is correct. :)
I always thought the GLC Homeworld was OA... OH-ay, rather than O-uh.
Heh. Totally forgot I started this other day. I guess I was a little buzzed. lolz.
Anyway....
You were so close.
At Marvel I used to think Namor wss pronounced like the word Submarine + err
Same. Probably called him Sub-marEEner all the way to HS.
I still don't know if I read Ra's Al Ghul right.
It took me awhile to go from RAH's All Gull to RAZE Owl Ghoul. I think that's right? lolz.

ZUH Taw NA for me.
Here's one: when I first discovered Chameleon Boy back in '74, I thought it was pronounced CHAM-a-lon Boy. Later on in the year, I was watching an episode of Wild Kingdom that featured a chameleon. I put 2 and 2 together immediately. :)
Yup. Did the ChamAlon Boy thing too. I could make a whole separate post about the Legionaires real names and home planets. I couldn't look in a dictionary to figure those out like a lot of other words when I was a youngin'. lolz.
It was Dark Seed for a brief time before I decided DARK-side was the logical pronunciation. :)
I still struggle with that one. Neither really sounds right to me.
Regarding Mxyzptlk....I'm a Mixelpick guy. It's just easier. ;)

Did not know that. Been Moe-Ench my whole life. Huh.
