...why are they going 'R' rated when most of the audience knows the titans as a kids cartoon?
Because the Titans most popular comic incarnation was a group of older college aged teenagers coming together dealing with their maturity and growing into adulthood, which is clearly closer to what this is going towards (lets be real, you can see just by the titles and who the main villain it's based off the first arc of that run). In the cartoon, you could use animation to make it more kid friendly and goofier in a way you wouldn't unless you had a bunch of Hannah Montana Disney styled aged kids doing it.
Yeah, no. I look forward to the eventual bluray set, but I'm not shelling out for yet another streaming thing.
Yes I'll get it when yj comes out then cancel it when I'm done. So guess I'll watch titans then too

Was there anything about BvS that made it more R rated than any of the prior Batman movies?

The movie does have a rated r cut.

I don't think it ever was presented to the MPAA for them to rate it, but if it had I doubt WB would have allowed an R rating.

The Ultimate edition of BvS is rated R, apparently due to the violence levels tipping the scale into "R" territory.

Sure, but that is not the mythical Snyder cut.
-
Shouldn't the mythical Synder apply to Justice League? Synder was never replaced during BvS production.

A hard PG-13, but yeah. R does seem to be a bit of a stretch for it.
