Introducing: The annihilators
Thank you Gripstir, for suggesting the Annihilators cuz this morning... one of our core writers thought "AWESOME IDEA".
That particular writer stated this is a great way to segue into The Dystopian Arc. So let's first talk about how the Annihilators came into the picture. After some off thread discussions with Gripstir, I believe we were talking about the Phoenix Trilogy, that's when they brought up the Annihilators. According to the Marvel wiki, this team was Star Lord's dream to extend teh GOTG, and this team came together to prevent Blaastar from destroying the Kree... something like that, take a look from the link: https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Annihilators_(Earth-616)
So... Gripstir and I discussed the importance of energy beings/heroes for what comes up in the Phoenix Trilogy. That being Phoenix Force's nemesis, "Cosmic Rival". Unlike the Phoenix Force, a cosmic psionic being, the "Cosmic Rival" is an energy being that is the "Energy Nexus", which is extremely scary and more dangerous than Phoenix is. So this incarnation of the Annihilators would be commissioned by the Shi'ar Empress L'landra, formed by Gladiator to help Phoenix/Jean Grey combat "The Cosmic Rival". and as "Cosmic Rival"... makes its exit at the end of the Phoenix Trilogy, the Annihilators then turn to research where this entity even come from, and what exactly was it. Much like Jean Grey/Phoenix does, while taking lead of the X-Men. That's when they make the horrifying discovery of the Brood, ushering us into a new era.
This was Gripstir's basic ideas for a team:
Like idk if you want to use this as a rough draft of a potential team If you guys use it (and remember you don’t have to comment on each one or anything but
1. Gladiator - organizer/muscle
2. Vulcan - wild card. A bit of a hothead and loose canon. Argues with people and Gladiator a lot. Super powerful
3. Bishop - His story is a spoiler, but I will say he's actually the one to see the good side of "The Cosmic Rival"
4. Quasar - pacifist but very powerful the defender. Every team needs a defensive specialist
5. Havok - the kid of the group. I revealed to Gripstir that Havok has a very important role later with the "Cosmic Rival", so good irony for him to be on this team
6. Variable options include ( captain marvel as you suggested though I really am not a fan of hers, kid omega again not a fan, thanos, Adam warlock etc etc)
The sixth member should be a female, and Captain Marvel is on the table as the other one argumentative with Gladiator, and breeze in breeze out type of member. But that's just a suggestion. Also, Captain Marvel has an interesting history with "The Cosmic Rival", so it kinda makes sense why she'd join the team, for personal reasons.
There's more to talk later! Phoenixx9 and I are talking about Giraud/Phoenix IX, and we'll bring that to the discussion a little later :D
