Wow that is a stunning picture!
With the tv series giving Lois and Clark two sons, could Lois have another baby? I would love to see the pregnancy and infancy play out monthly as we were robbed of that by Jon showing up already a half grown kid.
A return of Chris would also be welcome.
There would need to be a nanny of some sort in the picture as I want Lois to be able to balance motherhood and a career, as people do.
Happy New Year to the most iconic reporter in comics :D.

I adore this picture so much. If DC ever do an Amanda Conner Poster Portfolio (and they MUST) then I need this one in there.

I love Hughes but dammit I did not like this picture. He has drawn much better Lois Lanes. Rare miss from the master.

I wonder from which earth Lois is? The one that was thrown off by her evil counterpart. It is unlikely, that she is from main earth.

The vibe I got was she was willing to die to save Clark... and she did. Then the series ended and rebooted to pre-Death Metal, so it didn't happen^tm.
How consistent have they been with Lois' current hair length? Feels like it gets longer or shorter depending on the artist.

Shoulder length seems to be the compromise.

I hope we get to see more of this version of Lois, or a variant, during Future State. *crosses fingers*

Me too. But I think it's unlikely. Even Lois' appearance in other Superman comics in Future State is also unlikely.
I hope Lois will appear in Superman and Action Comics. Hope Johnson will not ignore Lois.

This version actually appeared in a Nightwing elseworld story where all super-powers were outlawed. She was part of the resistance.
With the larger page count, it sounds like Lois & Jimmy will be getting a regularly occurring back-up feature. Anyone know who's writing it and whether or not they'll do right by both?
I mean, Rucka's title was a dud, but Fraction & Leiber's Jimmy Olsen will be a tough act to follow.

Is it confirmed Jimmy and Lois are the leads? I know Jimmy gets a story but otherwise it was just nebulously "world of Metropolis" and we got a Bibbo name-drop, but no mention of Lois. At least in the early information about the upcoming era.

If it's anything like the future state superman of metropolis book. They would be.I loved the anthology structure.Ofcourse, those would revolve around the main plot.Superman generally thrives with newspaper strip kind of pacing with great action,adventure,mystery,scifi,politics..etc.So him need pages and pages of explanation always kills the character. So,superman doesn't really need whole lot panel space.Combining that with a anthology structure and having it be part of shared universe to boot. It's really cool and unique.Like i said,it definitly feels like one piece.I still wish they would bring back the old action comics gang or atleast their legacies.Having vigilante or tex thompson or zatara dealing with superman's stuff or his own would be cool

I have no idea how Lois & Jimmy centric it'll be, but they'd be fools to not focus on the most popular Daily Planet staffers.
Although I would love to see Ronald Troupe to get something meaty to do. Bendis did absolutely nothing with him, nor has anyone else in decades
There's actually been no confirmation that Lois will be featured in any of the backups at all which is kind of cagey to me. When asked about Lois he's only given his canned answer about the scope of his plans not fitting Earthbound characters and then generally talking about the backups featuring Metropolis and the "Daily Planet crew" with specific mention of Jimmy and Bibbo. So it's an assumption that's kind of been taken as a fact.
The closest thing to a confirmed role for Lois post-Future State is the fact that Bendis has confirmed that Checkmate will be going forward and that she was one of the leads there originally.
On a lighter note, I've been hunting Lois Lane custom action figures lately and found this one which actually looks pretty legit and fits well with the new McFarlane Superman figures.

Yep, so far for 2021, the only roles of relevance we can expect for Lois are in Superman vs Imperius Lex and Checkmate. The first of which sounds great and the second of which could be good or terrible (because Bendis). Some people are expecting her to appear on the back-ups to PKJ's run, but that isn't confirmed. It's just Jimmy and Bibbo and Midnighter so far.
Also, regarding the back-ups, Sean Lewis is going to be writing the one centered on Jimmy exploring Metropolis (and meeting Bibbo) in Superman, while Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad are going to be writing the one centered on Midnighter in Action Comics.

Superman vs. Imperius Lex does sound awesome. I think Checkmate could actually be pretty great as well. Bendis' writing for Lois was at it's peak during the buildup to Event Leviathan and in that serious itself. I've said this a lot, but it really reminded me of a continuation of Erica Durrance's Lois from Smallville.
Yeah, I'm kind of worried about her status in the main books, but hopefully Lois is still a major player somewhere in 2021.
Also love that figure! Kind of reminds me of Bitsie Tulloch's Lois...

Thanks! It reminded me of Tulloch as well. I'm hoping we get an official Lois figure out of the Superman and Lois merch.
Lois is going to be "front and center" in Checkmate. So at least we know we'll be getting something with her soon.
At least Bendis didn't forget she exists.
Yup. I'm sure it's typical Bendis hyperbole but it'll be interesting to see what happens to her. I wonder if it will be UP connected or what.

Bendis is going to Bendis. *yawn* :D
Bendis has done some pretty good stuff with Lois. He's also done some pretty bad stuff. I'm cautiously optimistic this'll be the former. And yeah, unless it's the "Lois becomes representative of Earth in the UP" that is in Superman vs Imperius Lex, I doubt it'll qualify as "one of the biggest things that will ever happen to [her]".

It gets the award nomination because it ended up being a vehicle for the Question. Yes, I'm still salty.

All true.
But on the flip side, it raises the profile of the series which is not a bad thing even given the poor way Rucka handled the back half of it.

I think it does, actually, because it kind of adds evidence to the claims that Lois is a boring character that can't be the lead of a story. If you take Superman out of the equation, even the lesser-known Question is a more interesting lead and the book about a reporter instead becomes about Question's love life.
Rucka's become persona non grata on Lois Lane with this reader. I understand he has his darlings, his pet characters, but he was tasked with telling a Lois Lane story and she instead became The Question's signal booster. What a joke.

The weird part is that I’ve had many conversations over the years with Greg about Lois specifically and he absolutely loves her. And when you talk with him about her, it’s clear he understands her completely in a way so many men struggle to.
Which makes what happened here all the more bizarre.

He has stated he'll always come back too write Renee, Kate and Diana and I think he saw Lois (an investigative reporter) as a way to bring Renee in and he simply likes her more. Renee is also a pet character of his (and all writers have them) so he just indulged himself since it's unlikely he'd get to write The Question for a while. I get it. I don't like it, but I get it.
I know he can write a great Lois, but it's like if I got hired to write Blue Beetle and I kept working Superman in the book. You can't have the protagonist become a guest star in their title and Rucka let that happen.
We were all excited. He was THE pick in everyone's mind. This just reminds me that strong editors are what make these trains reach the right station. Someone needed to remind him this is Lois Lane's book.
Breaks my heart because Lois Lane can absolutely carry her own book if they'd let her and an accomplished crime fiction writer is a no brainier. Alas, here we are. At least Jimmy Olsen was incredible.
