Varada Sethu confirmed, but it also seems Millie is staying? https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-68802766
Wonder if this might be something similar to Martha in season 4, Varada is the main travelling companion but maybe Ruby is given some time off to live her life but still stars in a few episodes.

Interesting if it means we can see what it would be like to have the 63 crew encounter stuff from later eras and how their era would handle them.

There's some pics from season 2 filming showing Ncuti Gatwa in John Steed style clothing, so it looks like they're doing an Avengers (TV spy show, that is!) tribute next season.
Avengers was of course created by Sydney Newman, who is also pretty much credited as Who's creator along with Verity Lambert.

RTD says the finale is "devestating", but of course that's a lot of hype. Kind of wondering since Disney is co-producing and has a say in things (according to RTD) if they're rolling out the usual Master/Daleks/Cybermen/some combination of that or maybe bringing back the Time Lords (again) somehow. Seems natural Disney would want Who's most marketable foes available in some form.
There is one theory that maybe Fourteen shows up and dies, and he then loops back to the bi-generation where he becomes fifteen. Mel, Rose Noble and UNIT show up and possibly involved in the finale so some might be wondering if the rest of the family is involved, including fourteen who has made peace with himself and now ready to 'sync' into the Fifteenth.
Plus maybe Fifteen doesn't remember events surrounding fourteen's show off with the Toymaker right off ("What the hell is going on here") because he was present as his future self at his own last death and his memories are a bit fuzzy because there was another Doctor there (Similar to how Ninth doesn't remember the circumstances of War's adventure and regeneration in Day of the Doctor)?
Or to put it more simply:

"7th Doctor: the last day part 2" releases today.

So how's Kane back? Did the Doctor perhaps encounter him earlier in his (Kane's) timeline somehow? Be kind of funny if he was the one who somehow got him kicked off Proamon in the first place (and therefore setting up him picking up Ace in first place, the rematch with Fenric etc).

I'm relistening to the War Doctor entry of the Sontarans versus Rutans series and its a fun romp.
The War Doctor teams with a Sontaran in order to investigate a conspiracy.
I kinda wished the Rutans pop up in the revival era. The drama of the Doctor trying to find peace between two warring species spund intriguing.

Problem is that Doctor Who has plenty of other shape-changing races such as the Zygons so even with the Sontaran war angle the Rutans just seem a bit more generic. Original series only used them once too.
Granted, The Sontarans might be a somewhat generic 'warrior race' too at times.

Big Finish released a new trailer for "9th Doctor: Starcrossed".

So far, there hasnt been a rutan versus sontaran story in the revival. So exploring why the Sontarans started fighting in the first place would be interesting.

On in the classic.
They do both appear in the "Shakedown" video that was also notable at the time for having the first and last classic companions in a production together (Unless you count "Dimensions In Time"), Carol Ann Ford and Sophie Aldred, although not as Susan and Ace.
It was also released as a New Adventures novel (which did add the Seventh Doctor), which was in turn given a reprint a few years ago (as part of the "Monsters" collection) although with a newer Sontaran design on the cover than the tiger-stripe one seen in the video.

Lot of trailers coming out.
One of them seems to imply that Groff's character is a bounty hunter, not the Master or Jack as I or others have thought. Wonder if it's RTD bringing up the Doctor still technically being a fugitive (She did escape prison after all).
Or maybe there's a still a bounty for the Doctor because of him leaving Elizabeth I at the alter. Granted, doesn't explain the future tech and shapeshifting aliens unless they want in on it. Could explain the Tennant/Tenth hologram though.
RTD did say the Master was parked, despite the tooth, when asked about it at the premiere, since the character has been around a lot lately. I mean, we've had three different versions in the past ten years, with Missy in particular I think appearing in more stories than Delgado and Ainley did (Not combined).

Could Groff be another Time Agent?
-
Could be? Maybe a replacement character for Jack instead of a recast.
I mean the series is no stranger to non-time lord characters somewhat similar to Jack as recurring characters-River, Ashildr etc.
