Not that far from Year One, is it? Barbara wants to interact and be part of the godly world Diana comes from. And I can see the dramatic potential. I'm okay with it.
Grace has mentioned reading the Rucka run before, so surely she must know how close this sounds. Especially when combined with Jenkins saying Barbara will be Diana's funny friend who has potential to become something else entirely.
But then, Grace said Wiig lacked the "sex appeal" to play Cheetah, the God cursed beast-woman with lots of body horror. So who even knows what's going on with her. I think she also said Aquaman had extensive re-shoots, and James Wan himself responded and shot that down, so I think everything she says needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Current rumors I'm seeing circulating while browsing on SHH!
[spoil]Diana will wear some variation of the Golden Eagle armor. And Barbara will initially wear a costume as the Cheetah, but will gradually transform[/spoil]

I was only aware of the first rumor (it was teased by a scooper a few days ago), never heard of the second one. 🤔

I saw the tweet for the first one, the other was just a follow up comment on SHH!
So I'm not 100% confident in either of them, but more so the second than the first.

I'm more and more excited for Kristen Wiig with each rumor. I have full confidence that she will be something crazy good.

It does sound interesting. I think Kristen can do a great job as Cheetah.

The armor thing is not entirely a new rumor. Even if not specified which armor was, concept art of a battle armor were shown by WB at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas before WW84 started production:

Where? From Mattel, Spin Masters, McFarlane or another company?

The stuff I'm reading on SuperheroHype is keeping me up at night, they're saying Maxwell Lord grants wishes ??? and Barbara makes a wish to be like Wonder Woman but it blows up in her face. So when Grace Randolph said that Cheetah's origin story had been completely changed, did she mean 'changed' as in 'in the middle of production' in order to make the Flashpoint reboot happen? If that's why they pushed back the release date, perish the thought, they've gone and done a horrible mistake imo
-
Patty wouldn't go along with that though, would she
-
Two rumours do not equate to one fact.
I can't see WB being so stupid to as to force a proven and successful property and director to change just because of the say-so of some unreleased and unproven property, not-completed script, and non-existant director. The reason given for the change in release date given by Charles Roven is also eminently sensible and far simpler than any office infighting theory.

I wouldn't entirely put it past them, honestly.:p
But like you said, there are always rumors circulating about these things and not all of them end up being fact. There's no need to panic yet until we see the finished product. Grace Randolph in particular isn't always reliable. She said the first WW would be a mess, and it didn't, plus James Wan had to correct her on stuff about Aquaman.

No, THIS would be the “Flashpoint” at which the timeline split. Wonder Woman makes a wish to Maxwell Lord to bring bake Steve Trevor which has a butterfly effect on the timeline and *poof* Batfleck is no more, in a nutshell. If these rumours are to be believed which I certainly hope not, WB is re-working WW84 to make all this nonsense happen
-
Hasn't Warner Bros confirmed multiple times now that they're focusing on solo movies and not bothering/worrying about continuity for the foreseeable future?
Flashpoint is not going to happen.

I don't think Steve is making it to the end of this movie still among the living.

Also this. They're playing fast and loose with continuity now and nobody cares. Why draw even more attention to it?

Regardless of what becomes of Steve, something or someone will bring him back from the dead unless Maxwell Lord is making Wonder Woman hallucinate

I really don't care about Lord or Cheetah
as long as Gal Gadot nails it again
and Wonder Woman comes out the winner
I will be happy.
I'll wait and see. If Barbara has some kind of adventure with Diana, they become friends and Barbara starts to feel inferior as a "human" / resents Diana because she's a demigoddess / wants to more actively participate in their adventures without feeling helpless and proactively seeks out some mystical artefact to become a "goddess" herself, albeit with tragic consequences, I could see it working. And it's not too dissimilar to some of the prior origins for Cheetah.
I just hope that whatever turns Barbara into Cheetah isn't due to the manipulation of a third party. I'm fine if Barbara tries to become Cheetah for the "wrong" reasons (it would add to the complexity of the character), but I think it's important that it is a proactive decision by Barbara, not the result of Barbara being used as a tool by some other villain.
As for Barbara finding a magical lamp, rubbing it and wishing to be a goddess - well, I certainly hope that isn't how the wish fulfilment plays out. I'd prefer to see Barbara being a competent archaeologist who does appropriate research on an artefact and, for whatever reasons, has credible grounds for utilising that artefact to give herself powers. Basically, I want to see Barbara work towards it, rather than being handed to her. Of course, the surprise / sad reveal will be that what she wishes for comes with a very high price (i.e. the removal of her humanity).
Barbara Minerva????
I thought the Cheetah in 1984 was Deborah Domaine....
Regardless of what becomes of Steve, something or someone will bring him back from the dead unless Maxwell Lord is making Wonder Woman hallucinate
If his return from the dead is temporary, it's not gonna create a butterfly effect because he'd still be dead by the end of it and cause no changes for future events. Because he's clearly not around come BvS and JL>

No, it's always been Barbara Minerva. Domaine was likely never considered for the film, I think it would be down to Barbara or Priscilla.

Why should Steve Trevor be dead? Already the movie is ignoring BvS and JL so there is no reason why can't Steve Trevor be permanently back?
-
Why should Steve Trevor be dead? Already the movie is ignoring BvS and JL so there is no reason why can't Steve Trevor be permanently back?
I don't know if they're going to do anything that radical though. Diana's "walking away from humanity" bit was kind of vague to start with, and her lack of flight if she gets it here will just be an inconsistent power set and we're already used to that. So they're not going to adhere too strictly to BvS and JL, but Steve's absence is kind of a bigger deal to get around. And hijacking this movie with time altering events to retcon other films is a lousy idea. It's a toss up, but relying on Steve to alter the timeline seems dubious when we have no guarantee it will be permanent. If the theme is "be careful what you wish for," that implies running to the past isn't going to end happily.
Plus what good reason is there to keep him around permanently? His death in the first film was very well done and had an impact, him straight up coming back with no strings attached kind of undermines that. I have a feeling this is gonna end tragically with Steve's return being undone coinciding with the creation of the Cheetah. I loved their dynamic and Pine in the role and am excited to see it played with again in this film, but it's not like she doesn't have other supporting characters that can be used in the third film that will be set in the modern day.

So apparently there was footage for the movie at Cinemacon. Including a first look at Cheetah.
Let's hope we get to see it soon, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for Cinemacon footage to remain exclusive to the audience.

The footage described here
[spoil]Has Jenkins say Diana is at her full powers. Describes her jumping across the street, but also "rising through the air the entire time." So is she flying or at least doing the gliding on air currents thing? She is also described as running down the street at superhuman speeds, which sounds like something right out of Sensation Comics #1. Cheetah is also teased, it doesn't sound like we got a full glimpse of her yet.[/spoil]

Interesting to read Patty's comment about Diana's powers. I think WW84 will give us a better idea of how well Patty can handle the action part of films like this. The first one was lacking in that aspect. DCEU WW doesn't feel like a top tier yet. And i hope this changes eventually. Because her character and verse have everything to feel powerful and visually epic. What do you think?

Oh. Sorry, I thought you originally meant that you'd *seen* some new WW84 toys revealed.
I'm worried that Wonder Woman 1984 will be lost in the shuffle of the licence from Mattel to Spin Masters and McFarlane. I hope that isn't the case and that the film gets plenty of new toys!

Wonder Woman is at her full power! I don't know man. Isn't this too early to say. It is just the second movie to max out her powers.

I don't know. I still want to see how she will handle the action this time around. If we get more films, then anything can happen. WW84 doesn't have to be her limit if we get a franchise.

They are definitely making WW84 Barbies. Presumable, with the armor, since we have 3 near identical versions already. I hope they make the Wonder Woman Movie line again... the ones that weren't Barbies.

[spoil]So Cheetah is described as "both friend and foe" in the footage. Maybe Barbara tries to be Diana's sidekick or something, with a costume, and then gets more out of control as her transformation takes hold?[/spoil]

Mattel have lost the "complete" DC licence. At this time, we know that they still have the licence for DC Super Hero Girls, but whether they have the rights to make other DC characters in the Barbie Doll-style is unknown (at least to the best of my knowledge). They *could* release WW84 product early (i.e. while they still have the licence), but I'm not sure WB/DC would be happy with merchandise for the movie being released so early, especially if it "reveals" Diana's (rumoured) new costume and Cheetah's physical appearance.
Because of the date of expiration of Mattel's licence, it's unclear whether McFarlane, who now hold the licence for 6" and 12" figures (which is presumably different to 12" action dolls / dolls), will be able to get WW84 product on shelves at the appropriate time for the movie's release. Similarly, the scope of Spin Masters' licence, which is rumoured to include "basic" action figures, possibly in the 3.75" or 6" scale, is unknown. And given that Mattel didn't bother releasing a "basic" line of action figures for the first Wonder Woman film, I'm not sure Spin Masters would do anything for WW84 due to the old (and repeatedly disproven) fear that "boys don't buy toys of female characters".
McFarlane should be dropping some hints about their plans at SDCC later in the year, so hopefully we'll know then whether they're planning on producing merchandise for WW84.

Does anyone know If in WW84 Diana is finally going to use her magic lasso or do the famous spin done and created by Lynda Carter to change into Wonder Woman?
-
Does anyone know If in WW84 Diana is finally going to use her magic lasso or do the famous spin done and created by Lynda Carter to change into Wonder Woman?
She's used the Lasso in every movie appearance thus far, so that seems likely.
As far as the spin? No one is sure. In the No Man's Land scene in the first movie, she kinda moved around in a circle as she changed into her costume, which many consider a kind of homage to the Spin.
Time will tell, I suppose.
