The near total lack of Cheetah is disappointing, but I'm liking the glimpses we're getting of Barbara's slow transformation. And I think Diana's "greatness is not what you think" line is aimed at her. Also that "have you ever been in love?" line. Suffering Sappho, are they going in that direction?
Really liking everything else. Maxwell Lord should not be in this movie, but I'm liking Pedro Pascal in the trailer. Also glad we are getting more Amazons. Are they doing a version of the Contest (little late for that)? Where do the Bana fit in, if the rumors are true? Also much like the lightning riding, the lassoing the wind thing seems to be present, but looks better in execution than I was expecting (at least so far). Eagle armor looks neat too. I can't wait for more trailers.

Could this be the Aegis shield?
-
I guess this trailer was just a little amuse bouche to whet the appetite, they're holding back, or so I hope
-
Tiara action! Yay!!!
I’m happy the trailer doesn’t make me feel like I’ve seen the whole movie or that I can even predict how the movie unfolds. (Perhaps this will be the only trailer I watch to preserve the mystery.)
-
What do you guys think we will see? We have the eagle armor, tiara action and maybe the aegis.
-
Looks a bit campier than the last one. Not bad in and of itself, just noting.

I mean the 80s were a mix of serious and campy. Plus it's only the first trailer.

Looks fantastic! I can't believe Patty had the guts to do the tiara throw! It looks ridiculous, but who cares? This is like all the great stuff from Lynda Carter's show, with modern technology upping the "Wow" factor!
Disappointed that we didn't get to see Cheetah, but I can wait.
Also loved the role reversal between Diana and Steve. Suddenly HE'S the stranger in a strange land who needs to be guided. GENIUS!
-
What else do you guys think we will find? It seems we have the invisible jet. I mean she is flying on lighting? I mean we know Patty retcon some parts of the JL movie. Like Diana still does help the man's world.

Dig the trailer. Awesome to see the Eagle/KC armor. As someone else noted, Max is a telepathy and can control or influence minds. Is Steve a mental construct? Is it a distraction to throw Diana off his trail? Or is he in love with Minerva and trying to get rid of Diana? Wondering if the lyrics of "Blue Monday" have any meaning with regard to the themes.

He grants wishes with that stone he's holding in the trailer, very Monkey's Paw be careful what you wish for. And I LOVE them using Blue Monday.

Looks great! That tiara throw! Those lasso feats! WW being awesome :D!!!
Does look like we're getting a jet scene...Invisible Jet here we come .
I'm not surprised they didn't show Barbara in her Cheetah form yet. They probably want to make sure the CG is perfected before they show it off.
The Golden Eagle armor looks better then I was expecting.

Yeah, I wonder if those scenes of Themyscira with her as a child are their way of working the contest in somehow.

Some mixed thoughts on the trailer.
What I liked:
Plenty of 80s aesthetics, between music, costumes, and cars.
Lots of lasso action, and the use of the thrown tiara. Also showing hints of more use of bullets and bracelets. Lassoing the lightning is not only cool as hell, it also gives a strong kinetic element to Diana's aerobatics.
Gal Gadot seems to have developed as an actress—her line delivery seems better than in the previous movie.
Pedro Pascal gives a suitably creepy impression of a self improvement peddler.
More Themyscira!
Patty Jenkins continue to steal from the best: Spiderman for lassoing the lightning, and Mad Max Fury Road for that truck flip.
I was afraid the golden eagle armour would look corny as hell, but they manage to sell it.
Also, I like that they seemed to have focused on practical effects, with CGI used for embellishments—it's really clear in comparison with the Black Widow trailer.
What I didn't like:
This is nitpicky, but it felt like the trailer didn't have a real theme or knew what it wanted to say. It also didn't feel like it hinted at a signature scene for the movie.
There are lots of stuff that I hope turns up in the final movie, like AIDS awareness, the beginning mainstreaming of the gay movement, or the social-economic clashes of the time.
-
Steve seemingly was physically fighting people at several points. Which seems to point away from him just being in her head.
I'm wondering if the effects for Cheetah aren't quite done yet, hence why we didn't see her. We did see a big of Barbara seemingly growing in confidence though.

This is what I meant by more of a campy feel. Not a bad thing, but people wanting it to be like the first movie and have something deep to say about humanity might be a bit disappointed.
-
Love the sheer 80's of it and how bright and colorful it looks.
Diana riding lightning was so cool.
Genuine heartfelt reunion between her and Steve, also the role reversal between them seems like it might be fun.
Pedro looks suitably creepy.
Fun creative action.
Etc.
Really good trailer.

I’m wondering, how did she get up that high in the sky to swing from lightning bolts??

Steve probably flew her there.
She lassoes a boeing 737
I know trailers aren't all-indicative but I'm already expecting this to be better than the first.
I just hope that when part 3 finally happens, the time period pretty much officially divorces it from any of the Snyder-verse stuff. This is way too good for that mess.

This got me super hyped! I got the same chills I recall getting from the trailer of the first movie - especially during the quick cuts to Themyscira! I'm still not diggin Kristen Wiig and I have a feeling her "Cheetah" will be the films weakest link, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong. Also, not loving the screaming chicken armor, but nevertheless, I'm on board!
-
It occurs to me that Cheetah in this movie seems to be a better executed Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2.
-
I just want to say the trailer is amazing: from the techno music, to the lasso effect, to the action, to the humor, to the 1980s' style graphics, it is, wonderful.
-
Can I also say that I’m really loving the lasso tricks in the trailer. I especially like that one spiral motion used to hit one of those armed guys.

Considering how much flack trailers get for unfinished CG, I think it's a good idea they didn't show Cheetah yet.
-
-
So she's ditched the sword and shield. Makes sense since she's trying to be a legit superhero now.
Lasso combat looks way cooler anyway.
-
I like the brighter colors of the costume, the lassoing of lightning bolts, the tiara being used as a weapon, and the fact that Steve is back. I was kind of hoping Diana would add a red star to her tiara and some white ones to her skirt.

Hmmm, I was wondering about the CG specifically. I'm sorry, but I just don't like DCEU special effects. I don't understand the complaints about how the MCU movies look similar or "lack style" or whatever, nobody should apologize for making something that looks good. I think it's the lighting techniques that the CGI artists that DC hires use. It looks cartoon; yes, I know these are comic super heroes, but if you're going to make this a live-action piece, then please try to get more natural-looking shots.
Otherwise, the trailer brings an appropriate amount of hype.
-
I think they did it on purpose. They want to make it a surprise.
-
Maxwell from what I got in the trailer seems like the general in WW1
Maybe he will end up killed by the real boss(cheetah? Crice?) with his broken neck again of course.
-
So year some of the costumes due some a little more like 90s but than again a lot of decade mores do mix some costumes up

The difference between Marvel and DC is the Marvel movies are shot on digital whereas I believe DC's were all shot on film so you get a bit of grain, it's not as sharp which lots of people prefer actually. In fact, it’s not unusual to digitally add grain in order to mimic film, I always set the camera at ISO 400-1600 to get a good amount of grain. It's also considerably more expensive and less convenient to shoot on analogue film so DC is actually going out of their way to achieve this sort of image quality

Interesting. Assuming this is all correct, thanks for the explanation.
I guess the funny thing is that WB is spending more money to achieve a lesser (IMO, of course) product. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I skimmed Max Lord's wiki and can't find a connection to Wonder Woman beyond neck-snapping.
-
This is what I meant by more of a campy feel. Not a bad thing, but people wanting it to be like the first movie and have something deep to say about humanity might be a bit disappointed.
I wouldn't call this movie campy. Sure, the excess that we see and the colours carry some of the elements of camp, but it's not held up as a source of comedy. Those elements are instead a backdrop and time marker that's taken—and used—seriously.
I'm not entirely sure where the shots of the city landscape and the exploding wall (starts at 1:33) are supposed to be. If I had to guess, I'm thinking of Beirut and the aftermath of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, but I'm not sure the movie will go that political (especially with Gal Gadot in the lead role).
-
I skimmed Max Lord's wiki and can't find a connection to Wonder Woman beyond neck-snapping.
That's literally the only connection they have. Diana wasn't even on the Justice League when Lord was working with them.
For some reason, DC is just obsessed with that neck snap storyline and insist on pushing it as some kind of epic rivalry between Diana and Max.
I'll admit, I still would've preferred a different central villain, but I trust Patty and Pedro Pascal to give us something interesting.
-
I skimmed Max Lord's wiki and can't find a connection to Wonder Woman beyond neck-snapping.
This is the biggest problem I have with the film. They could've modified any of Wonder Woman's actual rogues from her series, but instead they chose to use a character who is a tiny blip in her own series.
Thomas Randolph (White Magician) would've been a better choice for me.
As for the trailer, I am mixed. I really liked it, but didn't love it. I mean, Diana is always amazing. Love Kristen Wiig in the trailer but wish we had more of her (I really hope Cheetah will end up blowing people away).
And the whole 80's aesthetic was fun, but I'm not sure I wanted something THAT fun for a sequel. I think Cheetah deserves a much darker film for her own. And shoe-horning Max Lord into it does take a lot away from her. That said, Pedro Pascal looks really fun.
-
Was Johns still an advisor when they made this movie? That's my first thought when I saw Max Lord being used but having only that one connection in the comics.
