A big reason for that is the writers just cannot get a handle on Steve Trevor in the books for some reason unknown to me.
After Marston died and Peter stopped working on the title, Steve's arc and history just went bonkers.
To date, no writer has gotten Steve right as a romantic lead for Diana so I was content with the post-CRISIS status quo wherein Steve was just Diana's "big brother."
Since the New 52 to the present, Steve has been a bust in the books. Brian Azzarello never even wrote for Steve when BA was in charge of the WW title except for that one off Steve appearance in the annual.
The only time Steve Trevor has truly worked - and worked well - has been onscreen, and that's largely due to Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and, of course, Chris Pine.
I don't know what it is, but these creatures writing Steve in the books just can't get him right.
Has someone confirmed Pedro Pascal's role in WW84?
I've heard theories for Hades, Phobos/Deimos, Dr. Fate, and even Zatara, with a possible appearance by a young Zatanna.
I hate when these youtubers/bloggers do this. They come with bad news, but won't tell you what it's about, leaving people frustrated and anxious.
If she can't say anything, then she better just keep it to herself. :(
Grace is just speculating like the rest of us, I don't think she has much of anything solid to go on. It's probably best to ignore her and other Youtube bloggers.
She apparently is not flying under her own power, but via invisible jet or something like that. Probably could have used that 'jet' in the Justice League movie.
No, I think if she isn't flying, it's more likely that she is doing a massive leap into the air. The photographer who tweeted about witnessing the stunt said she was flying though (after a running start), and catches Steve.
NOPE. They filmed a stunt actor running, and then filmed Gal being pulled down the same route to get the shot of her face. Watch the red car in both videos. It moves exactly the same. Her hair would not blow inside of a jet...and we wouldn't see her if it's invisible.
Good call! That makes sense. And it's good to see them filming both "practically" rather than just CGI-ing Gal's face onto her stunt double's body.
I think she's just overreacting.
I've been following Grace for a long time and she does that lol. Maybe not overreacting but she has strong opinions on stuff. Just like most youtubers do. Overall her opinion on the movie has been pretty positive overall, like in the video below:

She did also say in the Kristin Wiig reaction video that she doubted her ability to play the character due to not having the "sex appeal."
Which is...odd, because she is definitely aware of the Rucka/Sharp version, and there is not a lot of sex appeal going on there.
It looks like she's sweating to me. Seems even more evident in the video.
But even if that is clear straps, it's probably to create the illusion she's wearing a strapless outfit and will probably not be seen in the finished film. It's the lack of the thick leather over-the-shoulder strap she's been wearing all the time so far that's relevant--denoting she won't be relying on a sword or shield for most (if not all) this movie.
Which is a good thing.
Or maybe that plastic thingy is a "placeholder" for a leather strap that will be CGI'ed during post?
Maybe it's an uncomfortable item to wear for Gal Gadot?
I've gotten used to seeing the strap in the books and movie. Now I think it's weird we haven't seen a pic of Wonder Woman wearing said item.

Right? She even advocated for the movie to be inspired on Rucka's comics (which it seems to be [sort of] based on the rumors about Barbara being her friend and all)

I think it helps iconography-wise to have a simpler costume... maybe that's what they're going for.
Also, she wouldn't need a sword for a more urban environment, especially since the movie deals with people's rights etc.
I think it helps iconography-wise to have a simpler costume... maybe that's what they're going for.
I strongly agree. The Sam Browne belt always seemed like an afterthought to me. It didn't seem as though it was designed together with the rest of the costume. To an extent, that makes sense story wise as the bodice and boots were presumably some kind of artefact (e.g. perhaps Athena's amour) stored in the Amazon's armoury whereas I don't think the belt was from there and was probably a late addition by Diana when she left Themyscira.
But, I definitely didn't like seeing Diana's iconic "WW / Eagle" breastplate partially obscured by the belt straps.
Perhaps the rumoured "battle armour" will provide Diana with a more integrated way to carry her sword and shield (which she would presumably be using against a foe which she thinks warrants upgraded / additional armour).

That sounds... stupid as hell. But I just can't see that stuff happening. Maybe I have too much faith in Patty Jenkins... how crazy would it be if Allan Heinberg was the reason for the first WW's success?

I can't open twitter at work, can someone summarize the bad news ?
It's basically just rumours at this point:
[SPOIL]Okay non-believers, here’s 2 things I heard re #WonderWoman1984 - Steve is in someone else’s body so when WW kisses him she sees ST but is actually kissing another guy, & she can fly by “lassoing the wind” - these were development ideas, could have changed[/SPOIL]
[SPOIL]One more - in #WonderWoman1984 apparently one idea was she saves day by lassoing a radio antenna to spread the power of her lasso across the globe - again this was part of development so hopefully people came to their senses and scrapped that[/SPOIL]
Anyway, since these are mentioned as development ideas, it's basically all smoke and mirrors at this point.
I could piece together a 2 plus hour video of Grace Randolph talking major smack about the first movie, months and months before its release ( none of which she ever owned up to btw). This is what she does; ‘worries’ incessantly to drive up clicks, spreads lots of unfounded rumors (remember when James Wan called her out for talking smack about the Aquaman trailer? She never owned up to that either!). I’m braced for a year and a half of more of the same but have faith that Patty and company will get it right.

I don't think so. The lasso has a new attachment on the belt (which was a pain to redo half my figures. I left half strappy.) What we're seeing is shine, glare, or make up...maybe clear straps for a harness, if anything, or since there's a bite mark or some kind of wound, maybe they've covered it to protect the make up.

So, even if this "sounds" weird, it's a description. Who knows how it would be executed on film in the story. I've lost no faith, anxious to see what Patty does.
Since this is a spoiler thread, we don't need to hide things, right?
The Steve thing I don't know about... but hey, I'll wait and see. The radio tower doesn't sound bad, and would also explain why no one remembers Diana from the 80's.
“lassoing the wind"?that
Ugh. Let's take all the elements that made her goofy/campy from the comics and incorporate that into the movie. That's the ticket!
Maybe when the wind speed approaches tornado or hurricane force level, will she be able to go over 100 mph. Of course, she is going to have to hope the wind is blowing in the right direction for her to move along.
The wind current thing is one of the stupidest powers she ever had in the comics. I seriously hope she doesn't have this in the movie.

I thought it better to err on the side of caution, given that this is basically just rumours. And yes, when I read the Steve thing, I immediately thought about Doctor Psycho.
Well, while the latter idea sure sounds silly and would be hard to pull off well enough, I kind of like the first, if only because it could open a more mystical world for Diana, with transmigration of the soul and all. Plus it could be a poetic way to bring back Steve Trevor, something I don't like at first glance. I've faith in patty to do a good movie. Probably not a masterpiece (since I consider WW to be just that, a good film), but that's already quite a lot for the DCEU, sadly.
I thought it better to err on the side of caution, given that this is basically just rumours. And yes, when I read the Steve thing, I immediately thought about Doctor Psycho.
Totally. Dr Psycho has disguised himself or someone as Steve, and he only looks like Steve to Diana. Not sure how this is bad news? It was expected...
And the radio tower could really make sense.
If it is indeed Doctor Psycho, do you think we'll be seeing Pedro Pascal in the role? Or do you think they would cast a little person? I think it's a sensitive decision... the only other little person we've seen in a superhero movie is Trask from X-Men. It's not setting a good standard if the only two little people are villains (especially one as deranged as Psycho).
About Grace's rumors: Ugh, I don't want the lasso to be the only source of her powers. She is a demigod, for the goddesses' sake.
But the one that worries me the most is the Steve one. I actually think people will complain no matter how well they bring him back, but being an illusion is one of the worst scenarios. Anyway, let's hope for the best.

Lassoing the wind is Silver Age silliness, which is fun in that respect and context, but not really something that work in the world Jenkins has created.
The Fake Steve makes sense given Doctor Psycho's manipulations. If he's around, Barbara Minerva is in for a world of suffering via the exploitation of any of her weaknesses.
If she lassos a radio tower, I hope it's to fling it into a surprise cameo by Giganta.

He might also be the Duke of Deception.
I think whatever magical things are going on, he's definitely the one behind it. I feel like if it was Circe, we would have gotten a casting for her by now.

They may have said "harness the power of the wind" but who knows. The visual would be the same regardless of how or why she does it.

If the whole world around her is an illusion, then it perfectly opens the door for silliness like lassoing the wind and an invisible jet. Much like when we are dreaming reality an silliness intermingle.
If the whole world around her is an illusion, then it perfectly opens the door for silliness like lassoing the wind and an invisible jet. Much like when we are dreaming reality an silliness intermingle.
The issue with making the whole world an illusion is that it breaks the narrative. It can be done in small doses, but it makes for very demanding reading (much like time travel stories do). In my experience it almost always sounds like a better idea than it will become in execution.

I don't think this is the case at all. And I know the footage we saw led to some confusion, but there is no indication of an invisible jet, and I'm about 100% certain there never will be. What we saw in the footage, is Gal being pulled along the same route as the stunt runner from the other footage. It's so they can film her face, and get close ups while she says her lines. If you watch them together, you can see the background action is the same.
'Lassoing the wind' may simply be poor word choice, but even if it's a quote, how it sounds and how it looks would be entirely different. Imagine someone saying "Thor flies by spinning his hammer like a helicopter." It's an accurate description, but it doesn't convey how cool it looks.
A pretty renowned prosthetics artist, David Malinowski, joined the crew for WW 1984. Could this mean they're going traditional makeup with Cheetah?
I really hope so.

A combo maybe? Prosthetic for close up and lines, cgi for action?
I wonder which look we'll get. I was always partial to Perez's Barbara Minerva look. It was sexy. On set now they have Wiig in a blonde 80's wig. And Mom Jeans.

That's good news. Prosthetics plus green screen is always the way to go, for the most part.

It's a first look for a scene, so I'm not too upset about it.
While cheetah print definitely is 80s appropriate pattern in terms of clothing options, I hope that Barbara isn't adorned in too much of it as some sort of foreshadowing. ;)
