[QUOTE=Valerie;3926350]Any time. I find that most schools' history curricula really only provide at most a cursory, SparkNotes education in history. To even learn enough, it takes really digging into the "specialized" fields like women's history, military history, Black history, and world history that really is world history instead of just covering Greece, Rome, and maybe some Egypt.[/QUOTE]
Can you really blame schools for this though?
They only have so much time and history is well... very long.
IMO, history in non-college schools should be focused on the basic cliff notes on what happened and move on to the next thing. It should be just enough to mildly cover the huge events and to hopefully spark an interest in the child to continue on learning.
i mean, it certainly isn't perfect but i found the HRC removal to be kinda of funny. At best she would have gotten a 3 sentence paragraph about being the first woman nominee for a large party and then it would have moved on.
[QUOTE=Dragonick;3926724]I honestly wonder how they choose which C or D listers to kill in these events. I mean it's all pointless to kill them, they're low level heroes so them dying isn't going to much of a disturbance in or out of universe. And it doesn't matter if they get brought back to life or not because most of the time they were in limbo anyway so there's no real change.[/QUOTE]
comic boooks never ending problem. Can't really kill main people too often because you need them for sales but you wanna kill someone for stakes so you pick some D lister who someone may have heard of once or twice to kill so you can get on the comic book websites for a couple days.
Whatever happened to putting someone in a coma or hurting them or something lol?

IF Marvel did this.....
The gatekeepers and freaks of Twitter would be out in force going after Marvel.
Sad thing is this is what he will be known for as most of the stories with Hotspot are not in trades.
Oh well sit back and wait for the crap storm if that Green Lantern is Kyle or Simon Baz.[/QUOTE]
DC's getting plenty of flack for this. They have been since the book was announced.

That's worse in some ways. See Rise of Arsenal.

Suit #2: ugh, who can we racebend this time?
Suit #1: got it, choose the one with BLACK in the name! its poetry!
Suit #3 bursts through the door: Make sure the black chick is light skinned and biracial!

The irony is that the current Huntress in the comics is already ( black/white) bi-racial.

In fairness, I should point out that the team isn't all white. Cass Cain and Renee Montoya are a part of the team as well.
Can't defend the colorism.

Meanwhile, they erase the disabled founder of the team…

Ummm, so... Jessica Jones book...
[spoil] Danielle turned purple... [/spoil]
ummmm... is this the beginning and the end for the marriage or is this a massive cliff hanger red herring?

[spoil]I doubt it, I'm no geneticist but I don't think two white people could have a baby that looks like Dani. I saw someone theorize that maybe she got exposed to the chemical that gave Killgrave his powers.[/spoil]

[spoil]plot twist, Killgrave is actually half black that passes as white before he turned purple![/spoil]

[spoil] I'm sure this will all turn out to be Kilgrave messing with them somehow.[/spoil]

Okay, I don't feel like self-censoring so I'll just use spoiler tags to cover my foul language.
[spoil]That is some stupid fucking bullshit wipe your ass with a barehand and give yourself a fake mustache with it[/spoil] writing and they should be embarassed by it. The first and most unforgivable thing about this is that the lazy ass team who produced this can't see Jessica as anything but a traumatized victim and refuse to let the character move past it. "How can we make this about Purple Man again? Oh, let's upgrade JJ from a hostage survivor to [spoil]an out-and-out rape victim. This is going to be POWERFUL STUFF, okay, you guys?"[/spoil]
I ain't reading it unless it turns out later to be a swerve. Double points for [spoil]not letting Luke Cage be a father, just nice. [/spoil] Good stuff Marvel, good stuff.

[spoil]My first thought was this was a synergy thing since in the Netflix show Jessica was raped by Kilgrave while that didn't happen in the comics.[/spoil]
It really all just might be a swerve.

[spoil] Wow. That manages to be offensive on several levels at once. Say what you want about TV writers working for comics but at least even a bad TV
writer would understand that making your heroine's rapist the baby daddy is A REALLY BAD LOOK. And Black Dude somehow mistaking a White baby for his own might be AN EVEN WORSE LOOK. Jesus.[/spoil]
