Wouldn't get my hopes for any iteration of Movieverse Cyclops, really. The guy stands in the way of a hetero-normative, adulterous power fantasy. He will be dealt with accordingly.
Scamor? Scott's not blonde enough for Namor. Now Alex...
Not quite what we saw in Escape from the Negative Zone. At no point did Cap ever succeed to reason with Crazy!Namor. Scott says something to the effect of 'Hey, we'll take you to some water' and Namor totally stops in his tracks.
Water. Scott Summers. Easy math, really.
I don't think Cyclops fans should be happy about this in the slightest. So long as Bryan Singer is directing the X-men movies, every Cyclops fan should be very worried. Just look at what Singer did in the first movie. He established Cyclops as nothing more than an obstacle for Wolverine. In that movie, Wolverine stole his motorcycle, hit on his fiance, and Cyclops...did absolutely nothing. That set the tone for what would happen in future movies. He's not a character Singer is going to give any respect. He will only ever focus on Wolverine. And Cyclops is just an obstacle to that. As for Jean, she's nothing more than a tool to prop up Wolverine. She's not a character. She's a prize and given her portrayal in X3 and The Wolverine, I think we can all safely assume that X-men: Apocalypse is going to be another glorified Wolverine movie.
The only hope for Cyclops fans like is that they would note the success of the Captain America movies and try to cash in on that a little, since Cyke and Cap are a lot alike.

Cap and Scott? I don't know, a lot of people make that comparison but I don't think they are alike. Look at Batman for example, I've read books where Batman was uptight and acted like a dick just like they have written Scott before. In a 50-70 years history of a character, we have seen all types of characterizations.
I'd like to see a Danny Ocean version of Scott, like on Whedon's run but that's unlikely. First because he will be a young guy in the 80's and second because the leader will still be Xavier. Now this doesn't mean that he can be a leader "in development".

Scott used to be the Superman/Cap of the X-men, after M-day he became the Batman of the X-men, only that instead of being a loner he is a team leader, so he is basically a better version of Batman, I hope that Singer realizes that, and that Scott as the Batman of the X-men sells way more than Wolverine as the dumb Batman of the X-men or Scott as the Superman

I don't consider myself a Cyclops fan.. like I would an Iceman or Deadpool fan.. but I do like him. Seeing him at the end of the movie really reinvigorated my interest in him and for whatever reason, it's making me stick with Uncanny on my pull list. With the idea of them casting younger versions of him, Jean, and Storm.. I'm excited to see him in future X-Men movies.

And Kitty never forgave him for that.

Scott isn't a bruce or a clark version. No
Scott is Cyclops the friggin Leader of the Marvel forsaken X-men
He could do it by himself but he prefers to mentor and lead not only to create a path for the next generation but to interact and train them.
Mutant, human, Krpytonian, hell even Saiyan the guy is the best strategist and communication expert.
There are no other Characters like him, no one who's faced the scrutiny, the loss, the success the burden of an entire species on your back.
What team does Superman lead? Don't even say JLA
Batman does not work well together, he can't keep a robin around.
Don't compare him to Fury, Scott is actually in the trenches.
He's on the frontlines, He's as noble as Thor except the guy doesn't trust his own control of his powers so he rocks a visor.
Can the movie verse pull off this no nonsense, combat strategist, mentor, husband, lover, fearless leader and devoted friend off?
I hope so. There's a reason why Astonishing X-men is the best comic series ever written.
He's Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Jackie Robinson all wrapped in one.
I'm ready to see the guy that can Nuke a horizon of sentinels.
I'm ready to see the hero the world needs.
Know exactly what you mean. Just got back from the cinema and can't stop grinning like an idiot. Such a good film and such a good X-Men film. Not sure if the general public will get the same intensity of experience, as the heroic and awesome moments might not mean as much to them, but I loved it.
i think they did, reviews are great and cash is flowing in.
It's an awesome film.

I'm pretty sure they haven't ruled out more "present day" films, so there's still the chance of getting to see the original cast in the future.

He is said to have been the Superman of the X-men and now the Batman because they are superhero types, Superman is the one that always does good and if anything might appear bad he won't do it, even if it does good, that's is what the Batman type does, what needs to be done, Superman is the moral center, Batman is the strategist and the one that does what needs to be done, he used to be the moral center, moral centers used to be what Superheroes where back in the 60's-70's then Watchmen came and changed the center from the heroes to the anti-heroes, this the boom in Wolverine popularity, and the Superman type became boring to the audiences, that's why Cyclops suffered in popularity in those ages, then Morrison came and changed Cyclops into a Batman type, which didn't really appeared until Carey and Whedon, but he still was the autorithy, which isn't popular between teenagers, but then after M-day he became General Cyclops, which can be called the mixture of the Batman type and the Nick Fury type (and Fury was never hiding behind anyone, he went to missions himself, in fact after he went rogue he made a team himself and always went to missions), right now he is in a completely new place, because any hero that went trough something like AvX, when he was considered by everyone else, got into full villain, got his "sins" excused with being possessed or having part of his memories erased (like Stark after Civil War), but none were still heroes in spite of being hated by everyone else and even started acting less violent than before.
The problem with establishing a Cyclops type is that he has too many phases, he went from full hero to anti-hero, from moral center to black sheep, from being beloved to being hated, from stopping everyone from killing to making X-force, and many more.
The best way to mention a Cyclops type is the broken hero, broken as a kid, rose up from being the damaged kid to become the great savior who does what needs to be done after having suffered all his life and never stops doing what he considers that the people he wants to protect need him to do, even if that can kill him or will kill him
I consider that the "get this thing out my lawn" shows him better than that scene, because it doesn't only shows his glass cannon status, it shows him as the calm until he explodes character, they need to show an scene like that in the movies, with everyone beaten, the villain moves towards them and he pulls his visor out and blast him to pieces, killing him, establishing him also as the someone who kills when needed , they also need to make him have his past with Sinister, a non-damaged Cyclops is not a Cyclops at all, because he wouldn't be uptight if it wasn't because of it

yup im definetly with you on that.
the good thing is Sinister usually sets the stage for Apocalypse.
Only issue is it will be really tough to fit in the Cyclops back story with Sinister while dealing with the threat of Apocalypse and balancing the rest of the characters in a film.
but then again they knocked DOFP outta the park, we'll see.

The most greedy thing I've asked for in the last two days is X-Men 4. One more movie with them all.
