Jean did not force Scott to be with Emma. My interpretation of that scene is that Jean pushed Scott to live and not be depressed, and he chose to live by being with Emma and restarting the X-Men with her. For all we know he could have rejected her offer and started the X-Men without her. It certainly would have been an uphill battle without her funding though!
I agree about what she did. I wish someone would ask Morrison, the author, what he intended. I know where my money would go. Hell, I'd lay odds. NO WAY it was Grant Morrison's intention that Jean put any feelings for Emma there. She FREED him to act on those feelings. Anything otherwise contradicts what he said in interviews.
I saw nothing to indicate Scott was choosing Jean before she died.. I didn't see the reverse either. It was left ambiguous, I think deliberately. For the howmanyith time, I believe the kiss is on Scott and Emma, What she did was not that specific. She freed him not to mourn, to immediately move on with his life. If Scott doesn't have the decency , or propriety, to not do it where she's buried, that is on him.
BTW, if someone wants to argue that what Jean did might still be morally dicey, no argument from me. Selfless though it might be, one could argue that she took away Scott's free will. That if he wants to mourn or whatever you want to call it(live in despair or guilt), that it should be his call.
That's kind of nasty. Isn't AoA supposed to be glam?
Actually, the word would be "tragic", I guess.

I think people go around way to much about morrison's portrayal of the whole scott/emma/jean thing.
It's clear he didn't like jean/scott and tried to destroy it in the worst way possible. in his run scott didn't love jean, that's it. no excuses
which is stupid, ignores and contradicts hundreds of issues and some of the best x-men stories ever told, that say that jean is the love of scott's life.
some writers were a little vague about the whole thing but others embraced it.
i don't like it, it made no sense considering how good jean and scott relationship was but it happened.

I also believe bunn is going to pull the same crap in blue. just to make jimmy/jean look cool (but it sucks so much just like tyke/bloodstorm)

I don't think so. But something weird happened to me. The confirmation of these 05 being the real 05 and that they have to really go back to the past made me fear Jean was going to have her first kiss with another man who isn't Scott, only to remember Bendis already ruined that by making her kiss Beast.

Well Grand design already gave her a university sweetheart.

Absolutely agreed, especially the bolded part.
Actually that's not entirely accurate. Stephanie Moore, Morrison's assistant editor on HCT was a little more direct than that and at no point mentioned guilt. I just happen to her response handy...

"-- it was Scott's decision to walk away from Emma...Jean made sure that horrible future would never take place by making him stay with Emma instead"
I don't understand why this seems open to interpretation.
Because Cyclops needs to always be the asshole to some people.
When the editor herself comes and clears up the confusion, it's not open to interpretation anymore. Boo-hoo to you all who can't handle Jean Grey doing shady things. Boo-hoo to you all who want Cyclops to share all the blame in Morrison's run. If you want to disregard the facts, more power to you. But please, would you guys not do it in Cyclops Appreciation thread? Under the guise of "discussion" or "debate". I don't need to have this "discussion"/"debate" from people who clearly hate Cyclops and have made no attempts to hide it.

Anyone else find it hilarious that cyke walking away from the x-men triggered a bad future?
That's literally twice now that the idea of Scott leaving the group immediately got repealed and he was pulled back in. Winder what will happen if he tries a third time?

well he's dead so its a moot point. Things are actually alot brighter for the X-men now than when he was around

Well, it'd have been nice to talk about a hypothetical dealing with Scott alone instead of Scott/Jean/Emma drama Round 538...

the editor doesnt work on xmen comics anymore and i am not sure this is her interptetation or the writer. she came to edit morrison run late.
Also it isnt on the story, so of course it is up to discussion and interpretation
