Well even when the MCU didn't have Spidey, he wasn't treated as horribly as the X-Men and Fantastic Four on the comic side of things. But then again with someone as shitty as Perlmutter you never know.
I don't think they'll push Spiderman to side, he is still a big merchandise earner for them.
Good point. It was the terrible decisions Marvel made as a company back in the 90s that led to them having to sell off the movie rights to their characters to stay viable, after all. That said, I'm just hoping we don't see the same pettiness that the X-Men and Fantastic Four were treated with affecting Spider-Man.
Like BlackClaw said, Marvel was in financial trouble and had to make money.
In the end, Marvel had to look at other "worthless" properties such as Avengers, Iron Man, BP, Cap, etc., to rebuild their comics line and launch the MCU.
Worked out very well. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

True, the MCU was doing just fine without Spider-Man before and they'll be fine if he truly is leaving especially now that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are back. It's Sony that are the ones that are in trouble, especially if their next Spidey film doesn't knock it out of the park.

Yeah, I can see Sony announcing the release of a Spider-movie and suddenly Disney-Marvel announces an X-Man movie to be released around the same time.
Well, this opens up a spot on the MCU movie release timeline. They really need to build up some BP characters so that we can get a side movie or a TV show.

Here's to hoping we can get Kasper in the MCU. Or have Nakia on the A-Force.
Looks lke Sony/MCU deal just fell apart
Guess which character just got that much more important lol

Than Millar wrote the new Kickass, Prodigy, and SpaceBandits using black characters. Lol.
That is the Prodigy book you never knew you wanted.
That said, I'm just hoping we don't see the same pettiness that the X-Men and Fantastic Four were treated with affecting Spider-Man.
MILES MORALES and that Oscar and the fact the Spider-Man family DOMINATES trade sales to kids will prevent that.
It begs the question, why did Marvel pass up a veteran (Redjack) in favor of a neophyte Coates and Allow hi I'm to go unchecked without any consultant, or supervision to make sure he wasn't writing isht like they are doing with his Cap run
Because Marvel was going for folks outside the comic book world.
In terms of doing as little as you can to promote someone-Coates arrived with a fanbase and a rep that made sure you got trades in stores. That shows how little faith they had in Panther. Now if they KNEW what a beast that movie was going to be-you might have gotten Redjack.
You could have put anyone black on the book when that movie was out and got sales. For all the complaints about Coates-Panther is still your top seller for POC male heroes trades.
As for Cap-this is what the first time a black writer did the book as the main writer (not counting CA & Falcon by Priest)? With all the backlash going on at the time-yeah they are going to be careful. Let that book sale as a trade like Panther-don't be shock if he gets more leeway.
Excellent suggestions, but you would have to have editors that really care about the state and status of Black Panther for this to occur.
It's hard to care when you have no competition. I don't mean Miles or any Marvel guy.
If Dc invested in John Stewart or Black Lightning or worst STATIC was around-getting better reviews and sales-you would see a difference.
I know we don't like it but from a Marvel stance-why change what is working?
Captain Marvel?
The advantage of BP is that he is on Earth and front and center. His supporting characters are really strong and easy to integrate into the greater mcu if they want. Esp the tech and Shuri and such.
Carol on the other hand has no supporting cast right now thanks to the time jump. Plus shes off world... not much different from thor or GoG.
Strsnge is from a secret society of mystics plus only has wong.
Gotta pump BP up until they focus on the mutants
-
I won't have high expectations of a BP bump to be honest. They will probably bump up another character instead despite BP's success.

T'Challa needs to fill the role Tony had. Especially now. And how Feigi said Wakanda would be the anchor in the MCU? Make T'Challa The go to guy

I would love a t'challa that was obsessed with contingency plans because of what happened with IW/EG.
Not quite Batman levels of creepy obsessed but, close lol
Gotta do something about those teleporters lol
