But there is a big reason why she had to die in the snap - we didn't want her to age five years. If she had survived the snap, they would have to aged her up in the future.[/spoil]
great point
I saw Endgame today. Regarding T'challa:
[spoil]Yes, he only gets a few scenes. But then again, so does Captain Marvel, who is absent for most of the movie.[/spoil]
But I'm OK with what we got, especially since:
[spoil]The Wakandan army looked badass, and Okoye and Shuri got stuff to do too.[/spoil]
Furthermore:
[spoil]The shots at the end of Wakanda at night were GORGEOUS.[/spoil]
So, I'm OK with what we got. It was an Avengers movie, and the originals got the spotlight, as it should be.
Now, bring on Black Panther: Enemy Of The State!
This x1000000
[spoil]It shouldn't be a one vs. other debate, but hopefully that screentime breakdown will make clear that this movie was about the original Avengers, not the later characters. So Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man did not get a lot of time.[/spoil]
They have already done some, as some women focused websites are pissed because the posters had lots of woman on it and the screen time they got was abysmal compared to "the white males"
Honestly, I think the reason why Wakanda wasn't involved is because they wanted to treat what they were doing as a hail mary, one shot or else kind of thing. Having the institutional support of the most advanced nation on the planet goes against that
Another good point
That too. We don't know what transpired while T'Challa was gone
All that chaos seems perfect for most villains, especially someone like Achebe.
Also gives T'challa an "excuse" when he doesn't seem prepared for the villain... T'challa kinda has a built in excuse lol

Which is sort of amusing, given the [spoil]pseudo-A-Force team-up[/spoil] scene.

Hey, remember people were mad about "fan service" in here in regards to BP lol?
lol

No, but I remember when people were complaining that the Secret Avengers were going to show up in the third act of Black Panther (because they were hiding out in Wakanda) and save the day in a "here comes the cavalry" moment. ;)

For what it's worth, the next phase is going to have a lot more POC in it. Going to be kind of refreshing and interesting to see more discussions center around Carol, BP and crew, Eternals, Shang Chi, Strange instead of the OG's all the time.
[spoil]In those five years without King T'Challa, who do you think ruled over Wakanda as king or queen? I am personally leaning toward Ramonda (assuming the MCU version of the character is of royal blood and was not challenged by M'Baku) to make it easier for someone wanting to yield the throne and to avoid a retread of Challenge Day ceremony.[/spoil]
I would go with your theory. This is something unlikely to come up again, imo.

[spoil]I chuckled at the amazing coincidence there. I know some people who were genuinely moved by it, so I'm fine it happened. Of course, the sad thing there that I didn't think about at the time is there was no Black Widow in that scene.[/spoil]
I'm going to turn the conversation back to the comic for a second. Regardless of whether people are liking the current story (and acknowledging the last issue had a shit ton of talking in it), I'm glad that it's tying back to the second story arc. That was a story that left a lot of stuff unresolved and I'm glad it's getting addressed. I've always been skeptical of Shuri connecting, but I wonder if I should read it just in case. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it'll arrive on Marvel Unlimited in any meaningful sense until August.

It'll be interesting to see if the mcu will be as interconnected as it once was.
For the first couples phases everyone was essentially an Avenger. But on paper at least, people like Shang, the Eternals and BP don't have that same common denominator to the same degree at least. I wonder if the mcu will be a bit more like dc going foreward ir whether marvel will have that same cohesive feel.

So far, shuri has no connection whatsoever, other than her griot powers disappearing

I guess the reason I'm asking is they seem to be going back to the Djalia, so I wonder how Shuri factors in.

I suspect that save for Avengers movies, the characters will do what they did before. The socio-political guys will stay in their corner, aliens in theirs, etc.
For all the connection, it was more after the fact than anything else

Exactly.
The solo movies mostly served as a way to give characters depth for team ups without wasting time in the team up movies

When Nnedi gets back, she is going to have Shuri go to the Djalia too.

I don't read Thor much, but I'm pretty sure the 10th realm "Heven" has nothing to do with Christianity even though it's inhabitants are angels. But If Coates wanted the play on colonial themes, WoR would have been better for the solo. Heven gets Africa after the war, so while it's not on page yet, there are probably angels there now killing people.
