To wash out the taste of Deathbattle ...
Here's the variant cover of Marvels Annotated #1, which will be out next week. I wish Ross had done Namor on the first cover, but he's going back to Jim Hammond again.
I'm not sure what is in this book, except Marvels 0 and 1. The solicit says, "Packed with extras and completely remastered, you don't want to miss this unique look back at the Marvels phenomenon!" It's allegedly 104 pages long, which I guess is part of the reason why it is 8 bucks! I think I'll take a look at it at the comic shop first.
I just really love this art, and Paolo Rivera's Namor's expression is sooo good. And I like how they had him and Jim facing each other as a call to their first fight and also Jim's flaming footsteps.
I really think Ross is a big Jim fan since he likes to use him when he can but I would have loved another Namor art from him, still his Invaders #1 variant is very good. I wonder if we will get more Invaders variants from him?
It's okay, rant away. You are among Namor fans. :)
I get annoyed about the flying thing too. But it happens in the comics all the time. Hickman totally ignored the fact that Namor could fly circles around most of his fights. Seriously, next to time you read his run count how many times you see Namor fly.
Bullet proof? He has NUCLEAR BOMB proof skin. ;p
LOL, he does and that alone should have been a clear indication that this whole thing was set up for Aquaman to win. Gosh the one or two instances from that run I can recall off the top of my head from that run was Namor flying to the another planet with the Illuminati and also him flying up to the ship where he faced Black Panther and Black Bolt but yes I will have to give that another read sometime.
True, true! And I think sometimes I have a thing for pointy ears...
Marvel Studios really needs to bring in Namor! Preferably starting out in a Captain America flashback and build up from there. :)
lol, I love his pointy ears, my first favorite marvel character was Nightcrawler who also has pointy ears, so I know I have a thing for them. ;) I would love an Invaders movie done right. To be honest, its the only way we can get a classic Namor since Marvel probably can't or won't do a solo movie.
Yea...it was somewhat biased. Good showing but in their very video they said that Aquaman got his hand eaten by Piranha(which I didn't know) and Namor withstood attacks from Hulk and a mountain falling on him....How do they figure he could get eaten by those fish? They also left out that Namor is bullet proof while Aquaman is only resistant....
I think if they went more in depth on their resistant/durability they might have had to change their vote...
Really. I guess Aquaman can't control all aquatic life, if they ate his hand off.
They left out quite a bit. They showed Aquaman using sea life, but they failed to show Namor calling up a Kaiju army with the Horn of Proteus to squash him and his sharks flat.
The big feat they gave to Aquaman was the holding back Atlan's trident, as if the force of the trident was what sunk a continent. But is that what happened? I mean, wasn't it actually some power or magic from the trident that did that, activated when Atlan hit the ground with the trident? So, it wasn't the calculated force to sink a continent that Aquaman resisted, but the force of some superhero trying to hit the ground.
They also failed to take into account that Namor is magical battery for the Atlanteans, and apparently can draw on that magic to supplement his strength. We don't know if there's a limit to that, either.
As far as durability ... They also failed to mention that Namor also withstood a word blast from Black Bolt.
Namor has greater Durability and he is more invulnerable then aquaman and is a better fighter then post flash point aquaman and he stronger too.
Aquaman

Namor McKenzie (Earth-616)
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Namor_McKenzie_(Earth-616)
Someone mention this in the comment section.
They neglected to mention also that Namor soloed the avengers recently no selling the attacks of Thor, captain marvel, she hulk, Iron man and ghost rider. And now he has hydrokenisis like mera. They were using Atlans strike to equate to trillions of tons while savage hulk has destroyed a dimension with his strikes. More hard to equate but Namor still beat hulk in that Era. They use old Namor feats compared to modern aquaman feats. Aquaman had the strength of 125 men in the 90s it wasn’t until new 52 till he started throwing submarines like Namor has since the golden age. And since Namor’s modern op feats were neglected i am wondering if deathbattle decided on the more popular choice from the get go.
That guy is right all around.
It's probably best for me to avoid the comments section entirely. ;p
Wonder woman by way the does not move faster then the speed of light. Plus that wonder woman is not even the current main canon version.

That's the other problem with these match ups. DC has various versions of their characters, whereas, Marvel usually has one main one that hasn't been repeatedly rebooted.
I'll take a look at those links later. Sure there's cosmic characters that can take out the Hulk, but generally speaking, in one on one strength battles, it's usually the Hulk and Thor, at Marvel.

Invaders movie. A wonderful dream. They'd have to recast Chris Evans, though, and I'm not sure that would go well.
I've heard quite a few fans say the same thing about the pointy ears. Now it might be inspired by these guys.
Welcome to the thread! I'm the say way. I read just about anything with Namor in it. And yes, there's alot of fans of the Super Villain Team Up relationship with Doom. In many ways, it is wasted potential by Marvel, IMO. I was really hoping we'd see more after Sub-Mariner Revolution, with this great ending page.

Thank you! I want to post some of my favorite Namor scenes later when I get the chance. :)
Haven't watched it yet so I will comment later. Just wanted you guys to get a chance at it first:

I think it's because of the new movie! Wow. Give a guy a beard and long hair, have him speak lowly and snarl a bit and suddenly he can beat anyone.

Haha! Pointy ears unite! I'd love an Invaders movie! I always enjoyed his and Caps flashbacks/stories about those days.

Is that screw attack or one of the guys using a similar format?
Not a fan of screw attack so i dont want to play it and give them a view and end up with their videos recommend for the next two months

Lewis Tan is my choice for Namor.
-
Seeing post about the Namor/Doom dynamic. I liked when Doom became antagonistic towards Osborne because Namor sided with Emma against the Cabal.

Oh I love them too! Really the Invaders are my favorites and I am super happy with the new Invaders comic so far, maybe someday we can hope for a good Invaders movie.

I love both guys! Love Star Trek a ton and LOTR are good. I just think its the one thing most Namor fans love about him, those cute pointy ears. (I adore his wings a lot though)

The best part of the Cabal really was seeing Doom, Emma, and Namor for me and I love those panels. Doom and Namor are my favorite duo ever!
Doom is me whenever Marvel won't show me Namor. XD
Lewis Tan is my choice for Namor.
Lewis Tan is a good stuntman and is great for action scenes but the man can’t act to save his life. I wouldn’t want him anywhere near Namor.
Lewis Tan is my choice for Namor.
I did think he was pretty in Deadpool, even through the costume he was wearing. But I didn't get a sense of his acting abilities there, and that's the most important thing for Namor. Well, pretty is important too, but a great actor can carry off the sex appeal.
I do like that he's bi-racial. He could bring alot of that to the role.
Lewis Tan is a good stuntman and is great for action scenes but the man can’t act to save his life. I wouldn’t want him anywhere near Namor.
Really? That's too bad. I see he's in Into the Badlands. I haven't watched that season yet, so I don't really have an opinion.

I think Zach McGowan would make a good Namor.
I just really love this art, and Paolo Rivera's Namor's expression is sooo good. And I like how they had him and Jim facing each other as a call to their first fight and also Jim's flaming footsteps.
Rivera's amazing and that's a clever cover that captures the essence of that first issue. He does do a nice Torch. His Namor is a bit angry in that issue, and that's appropriate for that issue. But this is my favorite Rivera Namor. Or as he calls him, his "greasy" Namor. Of course, I call him Rivera's shiny Namor.

I think Ross likes Hammond and that era, and thinks he isn't used enough. After all, he gave him and Toro the mini-series. But I think at heart, Ross is a Silver / Bronze Age guy, and Namor is part of that more than Hammond. Remember, the MCU movie he wants to see made is the Sub-Mariner. Regardless, yes, I do feel a bit greedy for wanting more Alex Ross Namor, but that doesn't stop me for wanting more of it. :)

Yep. But I can't recall seeing Namor using flying while fighting in a Hickman book. Definitely shortchanging the character in a fight.

Holy Abs of Steel, Batman. Wow. I've seen him in several things, but not so much shirtless. Never considered him because he always looked more piratey with that long hair. Hmmmm. Will have to think of this.

Those were great scenes!
There was so much potential for that first Cabal that was just wasted. They should have had their own mini-series at the very least.

The ankle wings are a must for any Namor movie!

Ugh I LOVE that art, I love it so much.
Of course I will always be greedy for more Alex Ross Namor, and the Torch miniseries is one of my most reread series, I loved Namor's cameo and the call back to the og fight between the sub-mariner and the torch but this time it took THREE torches just to put Namor down!
