Adventures in Poor Taste has put a preview pages from Doctor Doom #4. International Intrigue, war, and rumors of war.
Once again, I like the little added lore that Cantwell puts out there, like the Latverian word for "ruler" and some geographical detail on the location of this confrontation. Warren Ellis used to do that in Doom 2099, like annonco publika for "public announcement". I bet Doomscribe has a little glossary of Latverian.
I should have expected that Dimitr Fortunov would stake a claim to the Latverian throne by right of inheritance. What is confusing is Silver Sable's presence because from what little I read of Spencer's ASM she is not in any shape to be doing this.

The 2099 event takes place before this book so Sable should either have recovered or is using an LMD.

Thanks for the clarification. Since I don't keep up with a lot of titles anymore, I'm not in the loop on how some of the other stories relate to this.

Been watching too much news, cause when I saw that name, I thought, WHAT was Dmitry Firtash claim to Latveria?? Is Rudy showing up in the book??? LOL!
Oh, that sounds cool! I'd love to see a Latverian dictionary.

Can't help it, first image to pop into my head seeing Zora and Sable duke it out is catfight. I'm not sure how Zora will take up Sable's proposition to find Doom as they'd be doing it for different reasons.

The preview is nice! Thanks IM!
About the latverian word for ruler, even with the a at the end it's also a masculine form. Of course it's slavish, and means ruler and, in the orthodox church meant also bishop or head of the church - it exists in Seerbo-Croatian, Macedonian, Bulgarian and outside of the Balkans even in Russian.

To dig deeper into the etymology....
https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction:Proto-Slavic/volděti
Of course it's related to the well known Romanian given name Vlad : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlad , which comes from Vladislav : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladislav . We all remember well that one : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlad_the_Impaler .
(Sorry for all the links... I'm always a bit too much excited by the etymologies, even if they are from an invented language! ;))

Love it, Abe! A good invented language, of course, would have etymologies.

Thanks for the research Abe. Even though my father's side of the family is Polish, I know very little of the Polish language, just stuff like babushka, matka and maybe a naughty word or two from grandpa. My grandfather understood English and spoke a little but mainly spoke Polish when his sons and daughters would come to visit.

I got Doc Doom #4 yesterday (30th). Which was a surprise because that's the earliest I've gotten an issue of any title except for when I got one a week early because my LCS allowed me to get it, on the quiet. We've been on holiday since the 24th until the 2nd.
