These people should be horse-whipped for not putting "animated" into their title. Way to bait fans so they click your site. A live action Red Son has been talked about for yonks and many times it looked like such a movie was in development. So RTF has to know that fans are going to jump at the bait. They are evil.

I don't see anything evil about baiting people into potential adaptation of bad Superman story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's more evil to be excited about Red Son

I'm a little mixed on Red Son, but why not? It's a popular story that DC will easily take to the next level of notoriety like this. And those of us familiar with Superman will have something new to show others a different angle to get into the character. My wife had a ton of questions about it on a plane trip recently but doesn't actually like reading comics, so this is good for us.

I wish they had done something like Whatever Happened or Morrison's Action Comics or even '22 Stories in a Single Bound'. (I take that back. I want Twenty Two Stories in a Single Bound' to happen asap).
I love Red Son. But i wanted something more traditional Superman, as there is hardly anywhere else. But its alright. Its one Superman turns bad which was actually great. Hopefully they do a good job. We are finally getting a Superman classic on screen. That's something.

It’s weird how many people think of Red Son as an “evil” Superman because that’s not really how I read him. He’s immoral but not actively malicious or a manchild like Injustice Supes. He’s also capable of empathy and ultimately recognizes that what he’s been doing is wrong. I’d say he’s Superman just misguided.
And while I am fatigued of the Unholy Trinity of Superman stories, we’ve never gotten an animated adaption of Superman’s origin and I would love to get an adaption of Morrison’s run. But more likely we’d get Johns origin and that’s so incredibly dull as a story is rather we didn’t.

I'm torn. I'm a little sick of " bad/evil/misguided Superman stories, but it is one of the better ones, and it has a lot of potential if adapted faithfully in terms of story, tone and visuals.
I personally would like to see something original with Supes or an adaptation of a slightly obscure story like "Emperor Joker" or even "Panic In the Sky" or " the Blaze/Satanus War". I'd also be open to seeing one of his post 1986 canonical origins to get a movie. Byrne's Man of Steel, Birthright, Morrison's New 52. My personal pick would be Birthright because it feels very self contained, cinematic and hits nearly all the major bullet points without feeling like a checklist.

Did any of you "no more evil Superman!" naysayers even read Red Son? oO
The punchline is that he is still the good guy; just in a different outfit & setting. Its not an "here is the evil Russian version" book. Far from it.

It's about damn time... :D i can't be happier. :D My all times favorite Superman story gets an animated film. YAY !
-
I don't like Red Son because there shouldn't be a universe where Lois Lane would ever consider Lex Luthor as a partner. It's bad enough we have Crime Syndicate universe, ugh.
-
I think that's being just a bit too protective, going so far as to say it should never happen even in alternate tales. I mean, I hate the idea of ANY attraction on Lois's part in a main universe just as much, but Elseworlds was designed to do very weird things. Yes I hate evil Superman Elseworlds (not saying this is one), but that's not because the general idea for alternate tales should be off the table, its just because its been utilized, way, way too much in the past decade plus and has become not only tired, but dangerously ensconced into public perception, imo. Lois being married to Lex in some alternate Earths is no big deal.
I am however concerned that the gigantic waste of time that is that Metropolis show might want to go there and that it might seep into main continuity. But that's neither here nor there in terms of this story.

I like Red Son, I've wanted to see it animated for a long time, and agree it's largely not an "evil" Superman because his intentions are still mostly noble. I think the bigger issue at hand is that it still operates from the perspective that Superman's moral alignment needs adjustment, and that kind of feels like a common theme today. We can't just get the story about how Superman is the good guy, and his goodness is both an asset to him as well as to the story. In short, it feels like in order to make Superman interesting, all these WB guys are thinking the first step in the solution is to make him Not Superman.
I would also differentiate between an origin story and a year one. Morrison's Superman would fall on the latter, and I would largely embrace it. If it starts back on Krypton pre-explosion, etc., no thanks.

WB has touted that idea already several times, so I guess I barely find that strange.

About damn time. I've wanted this adapted for so long. Just do 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow' now and I'll be happy

It seems like most of the time, Lex is depicted as a powerful good looking man, with Byrne's Man of Steel an exception. There's really no reason for Lois to not be attracted to him, especially in a setting where Superman hasn't arrived yet or exists elsewhere. In the case of Red Son, Lex may be smarmy but he's also a good man.
-
Lex Luthor is bad and most of the time tainted person. Lois Lane wouldn't find someone like that attractive. She is attracted to Clark/Superman not because he is powerful good looking, but because he is a good person and genuenly kind. And as the best reporter alive in DC universe she would smell something bad out of Lex Luthor from a mile.
But Red Son's case is much worse. Its ending implies that Superman is a distant relative of Lois and Lex. Thinking of that makes me want to vomit.
-
Couldn't you argue that Lex's facade is so convincing that you might need to see him up close and personal to know what kind of scumbag he really is? Superman probably doesn't need to do a deep character dive because Lex's hatred for him manifests in ways his fake image couldn't cover it up. At least this is true for evil businessman Lex.
Not to say I like the idea of the two having dated. Like I say, WB has gone there a couple times before that I sort of see the plausibility.
