While Scott is certainly being thrown under the bus here, what's Rosenberg going to do with Logan or Emma? While one has received worse characterization in this run than the other, I'm feeling doubtful it will improve in this issue.

Hickman will probably ignore this versions of Logan and Emma, no need to worry about them.
Edit: well that sounded weird, but what i mean is that I doubt they will be thrown under the bus.

The focus on Scott, and it is the last issue. I don't expect any big resolution

Actually, Logan was going to let Scott die, and the X-men with him, while he was getting drunk if it wasn't for Emma, so he actually might have gotten the worst characterization out of the two.

This is just old new for Logan, last time that he was well used in a team was in Remender's Uncanny X-Force, so no writer is going to pay much attention to what he did here, also there is Savage Avengers by Duggan, at least his Wolverine is decent. If it wasn't for Hickman i would actually be worried about Emma, but i'm pretty sure that he would be able to please her fans. For another side, we still have one more issue with Rosenberg, who knows how lower he can go.

Honestly, this run felt as if they were trying to remove anything heroic about these characters. I can understand the need to add character flaws, but this doesn't make them feel like heroes.
I'm talking on the context of AOXM.
And now I'm thinking, that the affair was never brought back since Jean return. I guess it will be ignored
It was the whole point of the last arc of Jean's solo, it is not being ignored (it doesn't have to but is not the only story they ever had either).
But they did have a talk, a brief discussion about it on Phoenix resurrection were he apologized, that happened too.

But those were written by "Huge Emma Fans" so they don't count. Only works that portray Scott and Emma as puppy kicking monsters count.
Also i just realized that Wolverine has been written better in Venom and War of the Realms (by Tom Taylor of all people) outside of the X-Office including his own return event.. Hell, Savage Avengers has done a better job and that has Conan in it....these are sad days.

I'm trying to think of a character who has been written better in the X-books than outside of it. I'm drawing a blank.

This has happened to essentially all X-men characters in the last few years- Cyclops, Emma, Storm, Sunspot, Sabretooth, just to mention a few, all had appearances outside the X-men books that were a lot more acclaimed by the fans than their portrayal in the X-men books.

That is sadly how it feels sometimes and that is such a reductive view of these rich characters and interactions.
Such a shame.

When 8 pages in annual by Loveness does more for you that an entire run in the main book, you know that something went wrong.

Also Rogue and Cable in Uncanny Avengers, Kitty in GotG, Sunspot in New Avengers
