People are making a bunch of Twitter threads on how innovative Rosenberg’s run but he’s doing the exact same thing he’s critiquing.....not even trying to do anything to subvert that aside from just addressing it. It’s.....sad how low of a bar some people have for genre deconstruction.
The dialogue pieces on the first page are so deep!
No they didn't. Reed, Sue, and the Future Foundation disappeared at the end of Secret Wars, not his F4 run. There was another writer on F4 while Hickman was writing Avengers.
The Fantastic Four basically disappeared into Limbo after that giant crossover and universe reset or whatever. Look at their appearance after the whole thing happened:

duuuuuuuuude, every x-men story is like, about Cyclops and Logan, dude. Like, dude,’every writer always centers everything around Cyclops and Logan and Jean while everyone else is cannon fodder. DUDE, what if we did that in THIS story. But, plot twist, dude dude, we comment on it to an almost teeth-gnashing degree throughout the story so people can tell we’re different but not. That’s gonna blow some effin minds!

Yeah, but it wasn't Hickman's decision.

Chamber's death scene was actually a v deep meta commentary about the CBR forums
Yeah, but it wasn't Hickman's decision.
Not my point. My point is that Marvel says we're supposed to get something big and exciting that will drastically change the X-Men. They said the same for the F4... so for all we know, the X-Men could end up in limbo after this.

Well big part of Morrison run was ignored

95% of all X-Men runs get ignored. What's your point?
-
95% of all X-Men runs get ignored. What's your point?
The point is that they promise big changes just for the changes be ignored later.

No they aren't...

Very different scenario, plus I don't remember any promises that SW would get something big and exciting changes for the F4.

Not anymore, at least not in the last decade. If anything, Scott is more alone than ever. I think most people on his shoes would probably just pull the trigger, everything considered. I'll actually be surprised if he doesn't entertain the idea in this issue, since Rosenberg already writes him as pretty depressive and the X-Men just push him further.

As I said, there is beter metacommentary on things like Epic Movie than in this.
No they aren't...
Give or take 3 or 4 percent? Yeah. The majority of X-plots maintain one or two bullet points to move from writer to writer, but that's about it.

And the worst part is that we know both Rosenberg and JDW agree with pretty much all the complaints and negative views about Scott and the characters are essentially mouthpieces of them (even if they continue to not provide specific examples), so are we supposed to think, maybe, Scott...should be depressed? I'm not saying of course they're advocating depression or suicide, of course, but remember they thought Rahne's death was a poignant trans metaphor, so...
