Jesus! I am so tired of Storm and Callisto conflict! I hate the Morlocks. I wish writers would stop drawing on all these stale old story retreads.
I mean, given their most recent interaction, I find myself VERY intrigued. WHAT is the reason? WHY are they fighting? IS this a smoke screen? I'm eager to find out.
I have always found the Morlocks dull. Callisto is an interesting character, but her always fighting with Storm is just so overdone so I can't get excited about it. It's a shame that I have found Storm so lacking in Marauders that when she finally gets what appears to be a spotlight issue(last issue not withstanding), it has to be over some of her most stale story beats. Maybe XMen will be better.
Hey maybe they're fighting over Yukio?
jk
I, too, am tired of Storm vs. Calisto. Storm has to be nerfed for it to be remotely reasonable fight. If Storm used her powers, it's a 1 second battle. Calisto is not in Storm's league. She's a weak adversary for Storm.

Wasn't it personal EVERY PREVIOUS TIME?
Also i really question if there is even a fair fight in this?
Storm beat Marrow fair and square in an immitation of the Stom vs. Callisto fight and i would argue she is a far superior fighter to Callisto. Not to forget the various other experienced close combat experts Storm could handle over the years in various circumstances
So unless there is a good story behind them comming to blows verbal or physical, this feels like a tiresome callback.

I find it's much more relaxing to just see if you like a story or not once it comes out. Who knows what mechanics are at play here. But here's hoping it's entertaining.

That's what my last sentence was about. I could very well imagine them just getting into a major verbal argument, rather than fighting physical again. However the problem is more or less that they promote the issue with the promise of seeing a physical rematch fight between the two.
So that's the expectations they want to create, what ever the story subverts it or plays it straight. Of course there is the possiblity of it turning out different in story, but that's not what we are led to believe when we decide what ever we want to buy the issue or not.
It's like when in a movie trailer you see two characters charging at each other. The trailer wants you to believe the two will fight, so they want to sell you on that moment. Of course in the movie it could turn out they are charging past each other at some villains. At which point the viewer is either nicely surprised or dissapointed because what they wanted to see wasn't given.
I hateloathedetestabhor Brett Booth's art!!!!
I thought Asrar was going to be the regular artist on X-Men.

This is my initial reaction as well. I really like Callisto and not too long ago they were hugging in this title, so I am curious what would bring them to fight. Maybe it’s a Krakoa arena style battle between friends who respect each other’s CQC capabilities and its just an issue intended to be fun action of no consequence.
However, if this is serious I am ready for Storm to have a new/more challenging opponent. Callisto is bad ass and skilled, but she seems to get battle tested against Storm all the time (they’ve had at least 4 fights that I can think of), and it’s just not exciting lol. Especially if the writer doesn’t present it in a compelling way (like Vita did with Shuri). I’d rather see Cal get battle tested against other skilled fighters that would help us see her as a more credible threat. Like Callisto vs Mystique (no powers just skill) or a Callisto vs Viper or Kitty sans powers would be more attractive to me.
Even if she loses I’d like to see Storm get tested against well known/established fighters like Lady Bullseye, Black Widow or Typhoid Mary. Or give her new nemesis skilled in H2H that can block mutant powers to force a CQC fight.
A Storm, Jean & Cyclops team up sounds awesome!

OMG me too! How many times is Storm gonna have to whoop her ass? Something else (not Storm related) as I caught up on X of Swords we see that Apocalypse's wife is Black. I always felt Apocalypse was black but the latest book sealed the deal for me
I'm pretty sure there's more to that Storm vs. Callisto issue, than what the synopsis entails.

Callisto would have been a decent villian if she wasn't a frienemie.
Storm needs a real true to God villian. And yes , We got shadow king. But just mention him proves the point. He's an every one villian , an Xvillian to Xavier Jean Psylocke What's her face.
They made her the leader of the Morlocks to do absolutely nothing with it. And I mean absolutely nothing with.
Its like do something new already or really do something with what we got. It's like how many times am I going to see Angel deal with his death persona.

Well obviously but fans gonna complain regardless *shrug*. Anyways happy were getting a double helping of Storm centric issues. DoX has really been good to Storm in a way that hasn't happened in years. From her appearances in HoX staring in the first issue of X-Men, her role in Marauders, her role in Giant Size, her staring in XoS, and now this.
I’m happy to see Storm wield s mystic sword. Obviously she has to return this to Wakanda afterwards. But maybe she get the sword of bone has her magic sword.

Who's to say she's coming back. That original Hickman poster for this make alot more since now

Can't help but having to imagine Marrow challenging her over it 24/7.
"So you are a living goddess, your lineage dates back to ancient mighty sorcerers, you have the power to controll the weather including IN SPACE, can fly, have amazing skills in nearly everything, look amazing, everyone loves you and now you also got a magic sword made of bone? That's it! I duel you for that!"
And then she challenges her every day, gets hit by a lightning and tries again the next.

X-men is now filled with black love. I am loving it and it feels organic. Apoc, his wife, his children, so many mutants of color.

I doubt that the conflict Vita set up in Marauders is gonna be squandered by having Storm just return the sword at the end of this event. It could be and I'd welcome it, but I find it unlikely, they're gonna drag out the tension.
Let's assume Storm doesn't die (and I think there's still a chance of that despite the solicits) it's quite possible the sword is damaged or somehow lost forever even if she lives.

That's possible because it does say the Skybreaker damages the wielders tissue but then again idk if it'll do Storm much damage since her body is pretty much an energy conduit when she's using her powers

They, dauterman in particular has been using that color since she became a goddess. I like to think it's divine lightning. Lol
I don't care for that Russell dude's art, it's too fan ficky and look looks something off a patreon submission. RB Silva is the better XMen artist, I know that dude dauterman is a storm fan and all but his art style doesn't for work comics should've got RB on that mediocre marauders book instead but that's just me
LOL
I wouldn't be surprised at all if HiX-Man/Dauterman were indeed trolling us with that...as a sort of inside joke going along with the fans. I'm sure they know we call her "Lightning Lass" and why we do.

The X office has been trolling for years chief, it ain't really funny and I'm all for some jokes but uh i wouldn't be trolling if i was in they're position. The HiXmen comics are pretty much in a grey state and unlike everyone else here that enjoys this direction it's pretty clear how this writing moves to keep a tired narrative alive not only that I'm not surprised these X fans are drinking the metaphorical kool aid of this storyline that will potentially end up in another pointless squabble that really at the end of the day will only effect the "mutants". That old head Duggan already losing people, so a joke about Storm being a lighting jobber isn't something i would do considering our girl Ro isn't exactly getting the proper development and that Vita lady didn't help the cause whether you enjoyed the story or not the perception is split. I'm just super sayin.
Enh.
That's a different opinion...I guess.
Enh.

Hey, someone's gotta have different opinions in this fan page. It pays a lot to not be bias, I'm just here for the ride to see where this krakoa thing goes and in terms of Storm well my expectations for my weather waifu are pretty low. Figured some of you would get tired of the "potential so and so" for Ro's development in those soap operas we call comix, until it happens well let's just say the payoff for being neutral is quite the lump some.
Absotively!
I have a more realistic slant to my bias (irrespective of what others may say and think and feel)....where I keep my expectations at medium so I'm never truly disappointed but remain quite open to having my expectations surpassed. That way I can still enjoy what I read regardless of what the writers have done to/with her.

We could have some honest to God development for any of these guys, instead they do ANOTHER retread featuring Storm fighting this chewed up, motor mouth, meth head morlock, Calisto...?? At this point I wonder why my 8yrs old daughter can't get a job in X-office, I'm positive she will at least give us something new. Storm has potential to challenge the damn Phoenix, why we getting this?? This reign of old dude mentality writers needs to end soon.

I'm going to wait to see how it unfolds. I'm thinking it has something to do with just a fight for fun or a precursor battle to the crucible since the solicit for NEw Mutants says once more into the crucible so i'm expecting the reason to be not so straight forward.
All Hail the Queen...
Funnily i had a dream the other night of Storm in X- of Swords Ascension and i actually sketched some of the dream. lmao.
Not many posts lately so why not this prob makes no sense to anyone really but it's about Storm.
So like i dreamed like it all came together her hammer, which we find out wasn't changing her it was an aspect of her goddess that was coming out, it was more a gift for a young goddess the only reason loki could make it and she could use it so it was like her divine weapon. And that combined with the Sword Storm went completely omega goddess and basically terraformed Arrako and filled in all the lava holes etc. iT was a great dream. lol.

Logan was in the dream too basically at the end Storm became the goddess of Arrako. Maybe that's where the portal in africa use to go.
