Going by what he did to the Wakandans and their History and Mythos (because of his personal ideologies on race and black history and not understanding or appreciating or caring about the origin of Wakanda and its people) I shudder to think what he might intend for Storm should he get to write her.
And yes...overall, his writing is boring AF.
I mean he already has written her though. And like Butter said has done a bang up job of it for the past few years and is single-handedly responsible for probably one of her biggest character developments in decades not to mention fixing the mess that was Storm's lack of agency in her relationship with T'challa and giving her a more profound connection to Africa and Wakanda imo. Say what you want about Coates but he did right by her in his BP run which is more than I can say for any X-writer in the past 2 decades.

That's what they said before Covid, but based on 25s solicitation, looks like the extended it.
Unfortunately an editor said the same them towards the end of his first year on BP, that he had "lots" of ideas. We see how that turned out. Lol
The real competition will be when U S. Agent comes out. We'll see if a priest shows out.

That's when she was a support character. Like Bobba Fett, it's easier to make them cool when you dont have to give them the heros' journey. I'd expect to see her have failure after failure if shes the main focus.

its not about her being cool though. He actually not only captured her voice but was very knowledgeable of her canon both from aspects of black panther and her xmen lore.

So of you took away all the feats and just left the dialogue, you'd be equally excited about him writing a solo book? Cause that's a potential outcome too. Lol

what coates did was all within her powerset. she was "cool" well before coates ever pinned her so no that is not what its about. it is him writing her within her established abilities and further developing that

But I 'm just speculating on what the big Storm arc will be about. Gotta be more than just a break-up or Storm is sick or something.
Oh, ok. I see what you mean well, then I’m curious to see that myself.

It would be hilarious if Coates got to do a Storm book then proceeded to turn it into a stealth Oya solo lol. All while she fails as Krakoa's top diplomat and has to be saved by Frenzy. I don't think he's capable of writing a strong solo lead, so much so that even if he got to write a black woman he'd turn it into an ensemble of black women.

All of that depends on who gave Marvel a better pitch on a Storm Book. IF it is even a Storm Book....
Coates isn’t the only writer who has expressed interest in wanting to do a Storm Book. Eve Ewing flat out said that her and Coates will have to fight for it. So really that only tells me it’s could be EITHER or at this point.

Based on Coates history of writing solos, I'd be worried if he were writing the Storm solo.
He writes a good Storm in someone else's book. But if you look at both his BP and Cap, the supporting characters will become the stars of the book and the title character becomes a prop.
We saw it in BP and we're seeing it with the Daughters of Liberty in Cap's book.
-
Not to mention...his books aren't setting the sales charts aflame. Quite the opposite in fact...they are in decline issue to issue.
Only the handfull of die-hard Storm fans would be buying his book. And there aren't enough of those to sustain a long-term ongoing.
X-Editors need to think long and deep about saddling Storm with that dead weight.

Oh you didn’t know?? I AM WORRIED. I really don’t want him too. But if he is? I pray to the Goddess he proves me WRONG.
I think it’s safe to say that Storm’s Solo Book written by Coates will have the same pace as Black Panther and Captain America. He’s already proven to us that he’s not that good at writing a Solo Book.
Yeah, I know. I’m still reading them. I will say the recent issue of Captain America #22 was good. Selene was beating the SHIT out of Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson AND Bucky Barnes. It was great. Lol

Well, Marvel has 3 People to choose from:
Eve Ewing, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Vita Ayala.
I’m throwing in Vita because I have a feeling this push was probably their Idea.

I'd go for Vita or Eve. I love the character growth Coates gave Ororo but I'm not sure about him tackling her solo. Maybe if he had a co writer.

Storm is Vita`s favorite character. Also she is writing that Marauders issue that will led also add some seeds. I am sure it is her.

Storm made a very brief cameo in today's X-men. Iceman helped her. She is also seen in the background of the final group shot

For some reason I forgot about Vita's role in all this lol. If it's a solo they're a strong candidate. Storm was even supposed to appear in Children of the Atom, so maybe if that book never sees the light of day they can devote some of those ideas to Storm.
-
storms inclusion in today's xmen issue can be summed up in one word: pose.

Exactly. That’s why I believe this whole “Push for Storm” was probably Vita’s Idea.

It looks like she's making it rain and he's flash freezing it as it hits the ground and repelling them. Probably bc they are both on Maraurders but Im noticing alot of Storm and Iceman team ups in this era. Im interesting in seeing how she works well in conjunction with other mutant powers, like Hickman did with Iceman, Magma and Magneto here

The only reason I even considered picking up the book was because Vita was writing it. I've been real nice and trying to give every new DOX book a shot, but I couldn't care less about CotA and X-Factor lol.

Same here. I tried my best to get somewhat excited for CoTA for Vita’s sake, but I was just lying to myself. The fact that the kids are all imitating other x-men instead of having original powersets makes me even less interested.

To me it’s a Combination of Wind, Water, Ice.
Storm Makes it Rain.
Iceman freezes Rain.
Storm uses Wind to speed up the Ice shards Imp-ailing the plant People.
While ate the same time Storm is pushing them back with Wind.
You can tell by how it’s drawn the wind seems to be circling Storm.
It’s cute. I like the Teamwork. Could Storm do it by herself yes. But I LOVE the Teamwork.

after looking at the panel I thought it was a combination of wind and ice. I dont necessarily see any rain. it was cute imagery but honestly I don't necessarily like these two working together as anything he could do with her combo wise she theoretically should be able to replicate it on her own.

I dont get the point of the lightning then. To me that was to symbolize a storm and with a storm comes rain. Bobby needs moisture to be at his most effective which Storm can mass produce. I dont think she was just using wind here

yes looking at the panel the brownish specs seem to be the vegetation from the aliens. he could be rapidly freezing the moisture in the air, which ororo could be creating for him. i can see that. the art kinda makes it hard to tell though.

This is a mini comic released on the Fortnite app to tease new content that is coming to the game. They're doing a big Marvel-themed event.

AGREED! Mutants combine their powers together to create powerful combo moves is the type of comic book ish I live for! And I really like the recent trend of storm and Iceman teaming up and laying waste to fools. Their powers compliment each other so well.
