Storm had a great dramatic moment in Marauders #8. I highly recommend it. ;)
Yeah, there is no way these guys are just in their late 20s (which is closer to 30 anyway).
Not everything needs to be an origin story. People living under a rock know who the X-Men are already. And even if the Fox movies had flaws, we don't need to see them as teenagers to get proper characterization. A film not dedicated to the X-Men in their teens or 20s is pretty low on the list of problems if it was even on the list to begin with.
The most recent X-Men run states emphatically that it's only been about 10 years since the X-Men began, which makes Iceman about 26, Scott/Jean/Warren about 27, and Hank about 28/29. That's their current ages. Why would you skip all 10 years of their continuity and start at the end?
We never saw Scott get orphaned by the Shi'Ar, save his little brother in the crash, get manipulated by Sinister in the orphanage, run around with Diamond Jack and get recruited by Xavier. All of that is vital to his character arc as an emotionally cut off, hyper focused leader.
We never saw Ororo as a young weather goddess bringing rain to the drought-stricken lands. We didn't see her as an extremely competent thief picking Xavier's pocket and inadvertently getting him in a tussle with Shadow King.
We never saw Jean share the death experience of her childhood friend Annie. Or really even her and Scott's relationship develop.
We never saw the X-Men learn to use their powers individually and as a team in the Danger Room.
People are the most emotionally volatile and have the most impactful experiences as teens and young adults. That's where their characters are formed. Mutants are a metaphor for teen angst and finding one's place in the world. The O5 were all teens when they first debuted. Piotr, Kurt, Kitty, Rogue, Rachel, Jubilee, all the New Mutants, and dozens of characters since were all teens when they debuted. They live at a school. X-Men starting off as college aged just makes 1000% sense.
The first Fox-Men movie already did the X-Men as 30 somethings. And it skipped ALLLLL of their important characterizations and relationships!!! Let's not repeat that mistake again!

Meh. Duggan just isn't doing it for me.

I agree i LOVED it. I also love i can feel the Storm building in so many books. Feels like something big is coming for Storm and i'm here for it.

Same. I dropped Marauders at issue 4.

That sh-t was lame! A major disappointment. Storm was barely in this issue and when she came she did something cringeworthy. Im not here for Storm and Emma bonding

Yeah nah. Duggan was already doing this last issue with Callisto and Jumbo/Emma. I wasn't buying it then. I didn't think this version was any better. I actually hated the Iceman part. But yeah, Duggan just isn't as intelligent a writer as Hickman, and even something light-hearted like New Mutants is written circles around what Marauders is doing.
Plus, unless she is only counting the last few years, Duggan's Ororo is forgetting this:

Marauders was embarrassing to read.
Someone get Lord Claremont on the line! He must save Ororo from Duggan!

Ugh that bad? I haven’t seen a review thread (maybe this the reason lol). I’m OK with spoilers if either of you are up for giving me the highlights for Storm in the issue?
Some of you all really need to let go of the (awful) past...and come to the realisation that if these fictional characters have moved on, and are better for it, then so can you.

Storm hadnt moved on from it when this series began. She hated Emma and made it clear she wanted nothing to do with her. I dont even think Duggan has written a scene with them together prior to this and now Storm is all chummy with her? I wish she had kept up the same energy she approached Emma with bc that would have made more sense than her caving so quickly. This 180 doesnt work for the Storm that Duggan has written so far and what we got was her throwing a temper tantrum which resulted in her crying in Emma's arms. Puke
Look at the narrative gold we got in Wolverine with his past with Omega Red being adhered to. You can't just patch over everything and think that's better. Besides, ultimately it is about Emma owning up to her actions. She has been goading Shaw unnecessarily all series, making every effort to embarrass him and rub his face in the mud. And when he bucks back, she's just supposed to get off scott free, when her preening ends up with Kate drowned?
No ma'am.
Why is Emma taller than Ororo?
Why is Emma taller than Ororo?
Emma is 5'10 and Storm 5'11. So they aren't that far apart in height. Maybe Emma's heels are just a bit taller than Storm's which accounts for the height difference.

Storm's costume is the best she's worn in years but it would be so much more elevated (literally and figuratively) if her boots had high heels.
The current flat boots just make it look like a sexy onesie.

Fantastic image thanks for posting
yea I like duggan. i like duggan a lot but I just wasnt feeling this issue either. I was expecting more. the iceman scenes were cool.

I completely missed that...I'm so used to seeing her drawn flat-footed...It looks 1000 times better with high heels.
I will say this though, I've seen better from Caselli...his Marauders art is not as polished as his previous works. (Storm's ponytail should be long and luxuriously fabulush with its own IG page)

I agree with a lot of this but I'm a bit conflicted. the two of the reconciling made me cringe but I can see how the death of kitty could be the thing that allowed them to work through their issues. I would have liked more and I loved the slap.
Marauders #8:
Was good. I already knew this wasn't going to be a fight. The scene between Emma/Storm was a bit lack luster, however it wasn't that bad at all.
In fact I almost expected it to go this way. Storm is hurt and Emma the only way she can be a somewhat of a friend is to try and console Storm and not piss her off even more.
I love Bobby when he's MAD. And he teleport ed NICE
I knew Marvel Voices wouldn't have Storm in it. LOL *SIGH* OF Course.

It would seem he's gathering all the Cold Energy into one big ball and then ports himself, Bishop and Kitty's body to saftey. It's not really explained well, but that's what it looks like.

I dont think that was bobby doing that. I think that was tech on Emma's sub.

I thought he was just like, unfreezing them, before they left. They would still have the frostbite damage from the experience, but they would no longer be actually frozen and brittle. It was a bit unclear how they teleported away. In theory he could pull off something like that, but it wasn't really nailed down in this issue.

There's no proof to go on that is WAS Emma's Tech on the ship. Her Ship has never really done or shown it has that kind of technology.
As of right now it looks like Teleportation.

Given how the trails of Cold energy seem to be forming above Bobby i'm going out on a limb here and guess that he was defrosting or absorbing that cold from them and the area into one specific spot. Thus him telephoning.
But because there's no explanation of what he's even doing or we don't know. But looking at the scans? It looks like Teleportation to me. And this isn't the first time he's done this.

yea there is. bishop tells emma before she teleports them they need an evac now. he says it on the page right before the one you posted.

Okay then I guess not.
I am well aware that Iceman has the capacity to teleport. He did so in AoA and in X-Men Forever when he was first identified as an Omega, but that was ages ago. Duggan just delivered the scene rather sloppily if that was the case. Why is Bishop not also in the next panel like Iceman is?

emma teleported them out. bishop asks for her to evacuate them as iceman became more and more bloodlusted.
Forgive me Iceman fans. I loved the scene from power use and speech.
But all I could think was swap Storm in for Iceman and the scene still works. Maybe better. But I was glad to see Iceman get dangerous.
The Emma scene was a big meh to me. The only thing that caught my attention was the comment of where were you , felt like she hinting at some 'other' work she's doing. But im just speculating.
As for Kitty, "ugh B!+(# you can't be dead."
Yay Pyro&Lockheed next issue.
HAHAHAHA that's what I was thinking.
But I like that we got to see BloodLusted Bobby again...those Eyes MAN! that's scary.

I thought it was gonna be Storm when we first saw the door frozen
This is NOT FUNNY and i'm SO SO SORRY EMMA FANS, but......
She Slapped the DOG SHIT out of her HAHAHAHA

rereading the issue I thought the exchange between ororo and emma was pretty sad. especially when she said Kate died alone. i know that she was blaming herself the entire time. I see this as her shifting to wanting to have a larger role in driving the direction of mutantkind.

I like the exchange because we RARELY see Storm become Emotional like that.
I mean this is a Woman who makes sure she keeps her emotions incheck becuase of her powers. But she made a promise that she will never turn her back or abandon Kitty or leave her alone etc. And she did the VERY thing she said she wasn't going to do. And for that she lost a Little Sister/Daughter however you wanna call it.
When Storm had her emotional outburst with her powers. I felt that....THAT hit my Hear Strings. We KNOW Storm is PISSED and MAD and ANGRY and FRUSTRATED and HEART BROKEN.
That's why i'm VERY shocked Emma gave Storm a Hug....who does that??? Who tries to console the person who hates your guts. That was very big of Emma. And i'm sad for Storm.
I loved it.

I agree with the general positive change in direction being made possible by a traumatic event like this for Ororo and Emma but I too, would’ve liked to have seen more exposition with it. I think Bobby’s allotment of pages could’ve been switched with Storm and Emma’s because I feel that issue was more important and impactful than Bobby popsicling people as cool as that was.
