Yes. I didnt even realize N'Jadaka was aware of Ororo. It would appear at some point she is going to be targeted.
As for Shuri and Bast, I loved their interaction. Shuri was straightforward and didnt hold back in making Bast aware the wakandans didn't need her. Bast tried to flex her powers but shuri correctly called her out for them not needing her. It was a very powerful exchange.
Yes, I love grown up Shuri. What she told Bast was right on target. She left the Prime Earth Wakandans for what she thought were greener pastures, and we see how that turned out for her. But Shuri was smart not to close the door to receiving Bast's help either. She just knew better than to base their war plan around Bast.
As for N'Jadaka's knowledge of Ororo, Coates wrote an issue that showed the Wakandans of his time knew of the Hadari Yao. The issue was more geared toward seeing that knowledge in panel scenes with Nakia but I guess the leap could be that, because Ororo was associated with Prime Earth's BP, that those other Wakandans knew about her as well. There was also some prophecy about a T'Challa coming and rescuing them and that he would have prophetic dreams. Those dreams, in reality, were the few recurring memories a brain-wiped T'Challa managed to keep of Ororo, although he had no context to his visions.
I really wish Coates did more with this part. Or maybe he doesn't have to. I think T'Challa's "visions" of Ororo has been overshadowed by other stuff, like her "confrontation" with Nakia. What Coates did that was so powerful and utterly pro Ororo and T'Challa, was having T'Challa lose every bit of his memories except for one or two linked to Ororo. He dreamt of her and their last night together for the entirety of his time away. He had no more information to go on other than her face and her words for him to come back to her. But, I think, especially in the beginning, that's what drove him. After Bast restored his memory, that drive to return home kicked in with a strong force. He wasn't just fighting against N'Jadaka but he was fighting to get back to his loved ones.

1. some people tend to give coates a hard time for his depiction of wakanda but I think his approach with addressing all the destructive events of the past Shuris response was not only realistic but long overdue. Bast is supposed to be wakandas protector but where was she? Now she wants to flex her muscle wanting them to respect her? Good for Shuri!!
2. You make an excellent point. Ororo, the Hadari Yao, was a being of legend to the galatic Wakandans so this is probably how he is aware of her power. When was the prophecy of tchalla returning to save everyone? I'm so curious what he does to take njadaka out as he believes this fleet will be unstoppable. Does he not know of the power tchalla allies have?
3. I also thought the visions of Ororo were powerful. Her being the one thing that stayed tethered to his mind after having his memory wiped was so beautiful. All of what you said is spot on. Their love truly can survive anything.

Soooooo not to be the bearer of (often false) optimism but... Storm is the only one on this Children on the Atom cover without a child connection.... and this is VitaÂ’s book that we suspected might feature Ororo due to his suggestive Storm doll tweet. IÂ’m thinking maybe she could be a leader/central figure here for the youngins?? Idk Idk Idk but... one can hope lol
Everyone else is directly connected to one of the kids and Ororo is springing forth from the center in the middle on her own. I mean that has to mean something no?!

Lol at both of these replies and very true but I don’t think these kids are supposed to be the “kids” of those X-men they are correlated to. They seem to be kids that were inspired in some way by their A-list X counterparts and Storm seems to be taking on some position in that book, not related to a sidekick herself. Makes sense with this being Vita’s new book and the whole suspicion behind the Storm doll tweet. Not a solo like we’ve wanted for so long but hopefully a book where Ororo has the potential for a good showing/story. We’ll have to wait and see obviously how it all plays out and what the previews look like but I’ve heard good things about Vita’s writing so I’m leaning towards having some hope it might be a good book. We shall see though.

If they are taking this route with her and these 'sidekicks' (ugh, it pains me to say it)
They need to recapture her time with NewMutants and combine it with Xforce NXM level realness.

I mean, who are we kidding Kyss! Until she gets another solo, none of us are going to be satisfied with anyone else having one lmao. I just tend to embrace any new info with positivity and hope for something good for her until later revealed info or the book itself shows me I shouldn’t. Being a Storm fan would be all woe and misery otherwise. Plus I need every bit of Storm appetizer I can get while waiting for Coates to finish cooking his painstakingly slow Hadari Yao meal that we’ve been waiting years for. So I’ll take any Storm future appearance as a blessing until it’s officially revealed to be a farce, as does happen farrrr too often. Optimism is how I cope with most problems in life so you’ll have to excuse me haha

I hope so too, but I don’t want it to be too kiddy. We need the gritty New Mutants teacher/leader/mentor Ororo to show out again and properly with this bunch otherwise I’ll be out. Not trying to read some Disney+ Ororo and kids(not MCU shade lol).

Hey ButterflyKiss. These scans are from BP (2018) #3. You can see in them that they knew about T'Challa and Ororo, although, in the beginning, they didn't realize the T'Challa from legend was the same one who walked among them.

BK: Here are the other images. In the next to last scan, you see that T'Challa learns that his memories are in the "hands of the imperials." Meaning N'Jadaki has access to everything T'Challa did, including knowledge of Ororo being Hadari Yao and how powerful she is.

This last scan is from issue #5. T'Challa failed to obtain his memories from issue #3. It's a five-year time jump. Everything that drove him, his foggy memory of Ororo, and his failure to recover who he is has kind of "broken" him. It basically gave up after thinking he could never reclaim what was once his. That's how you get his line about giving up "half memories and ghosts."

This is also the issue where he decides he should try moving on with his "life" and that means being with Nakia. He feels he can't go back and is angry that his half memories and ghosts have made it hard for him to move forward because he doesn't really know what he left behind.

No ma’am, no ma’am. I’ll likely check out the first issue maybe but I don’t want to see Storm leading a bunch of unknown children if Kymera isn’t involved. As a male I grew up wanting to be Storm so personally I don’t like she doesn’t have a direct sidekick, call me petty idc. I need her to work on her own mommy issues. I’ll likely be passing on this book unless I hear it’s a good book by you guys.

Nakia was born in the empire. She had a privileged background. She fights with the Maroons but she was never one of them. Oh and yeah, T'Challa is drawn right. :) I went back and read all of the intergalactic stuff. T'Challa was pretty badass in the issues. When read as a unit, it doesn't seem as slow. But a year of this can wear on a fan who wants him back on Earth.

a waste of papper and storm if she ends up "teaching" but that book wont pass the 12 issue mark so im not bothered

Lol I think you misunderstand my “hopes”. The only hope I had for this was that Storm might have a prominent feature in another Dawn of X book. This cover with Storm rising center and the only one with no “sidekick” combined with Chris Robinson’s Storm tease for a book involving Ororo that Vita’s writing, I would say pretty much confirm that’s the case. It’s not a solo but we need Ororo’s mentality/perspective throughout this whole Dawn of X storyline.

I think this is “good” news in a way then! If Vita was placed on a solo then you could bet your ass Coates wouldn’t get the chance anytime soon, if ever. At least the opportunity still exists for your ideal solo team to come into being. Probs be much better than a Vita Storm solo anyway tbh.

I don’t get the sense that they are “related” to the X-characters in any way really. I think there is going to be some affiliation/correlation between those kids and the X-characters they correspond to. Saw theories that Warren’s sidekick is a kid from X-factor 66 who was the son of Charlotte Jones, who used to date Angel. Her son was shown to idolize angel back in the day so it would make sense for him to grow up to be his “protege” of sorts. Just a theory but it has potential!

Trust me, I relate to your cynicism in regards to the X-office after the mountains of trash that we’ve had to deal with over the years. “Prominent” depends on your interpretation. A character can be prominent in a book and still not have a good showing or characterization. I can’t and won’t speak anything to the quality of Ororo’s appearance in the new Vita book but I’m obviously going to hope it’s decent since we have nothing else to go on, positively or negatively, at this point. We’ll have to disagree however on your confidence that nothing can or will happen with Ororo going forward in the Dawn of X books. There actually are pretty established and factual reasons to think she’ll appear in Vita’s new CotA book, as I’ve mentioned before. Whether it’s good or “prominent” enough however? Remains to be seen.

Yes! Honestly there’s been far less evidence that Vita likes, appreciates, or understands Ororo as much as much as Coates has shown to do. Not to say they don’t, but I like to deal in hard facts and the fact is Coates has shown his adoration for Ororo multiple times and in many different ways. Even much to the chagrin of some lol. So if I had to pick, I’d want him on her potential solo book over Vita anyway.

I can't wait until the MCU does the X-Men, keen to see Fiege's Storm. She has been presented so terribly in cinema thus far.
Hey there! Bienvenidos to the temple/thread of all things Storm. Always nice to see another peer with love and respect for our girl. Hope you make yourself at home here.
So if I had to pick, I’d want him on her potential solo book over Vita anyway.
agreed 100% boo. I know ms. bartel had mentioned a while back the solo was still coming but then jordan white said it wasnt essentially. I'm still holding out hope considering Hickman is clearly working with coates.

i think a coates storm solo would be quite perfect since he has great ability to create new concepts and since storm's tenure as a solo is so small, he would have a pratically empty page to fill with his concepts witout much pushback, not only that he would obviously have something to say about mutants in general, especially with hickman's current concept (wich to me seems like up his ally of high conceptual super heroes)
I truly belive storm by coates would be an important read for more than storm fans and would be a wonderfull addition to the line.

I agree. I think Coates would write an amazing Storm mini or ongoing solo. Although, I think, based on how he's written BP, Coates would give Ororo a strong set of supporting characters. I think he would build her world and show the diversity that makes up her multi-faceted existence. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that will happen under his pen. I believe he had some concrete ideas as to how he could tell her story, sharing her long history but also adding to the current character. I think he had similar goals for the heroes in BP and the Crew, which is why I LOVED his nod to his own damn comic when he brought in the Crew, plus Falcon and Rambeau in this week's issue of BP. He did not let that connection he created with the heroes go to waste despite the cancellation.
Sigh, I mourn for what could've been.
