I’m rushing over to read it now. I NEED THIS NAO! We’re talking about Hadari muthafuckin Yao mentioned without being mentioned! ‘It’s done! I’ve been slayed!
She needs a mini or a solo as of 1/1/20. I said it.
Y’all I fuckin GAGGED at how real Shit just got with Storm under Duggan’s pen!
Hadari Yao REFUSED to relinquish her power to a bitter little man that knew nothing of the word. She wields her vibranium blade with lethal accuracy. And the real fucking slay is that she looks utterly divine whilst shanking a bitch.
This Storm reminds me of Punk Rock Storm where she is more harsh with her enemies I LOVE IT

I hope that Storm gets some quality development throughout all of Marvel. She still has so much untapped potential. I hope she maintains a positive trajectory going forward.
So True. And Nice photo choice, I just feel its missing the Marvel banner above her.
Storm was that QUEEN in Marauders. She gets her powers taken via dampener and the guy is all "You intend to fight powerless" Ol girl, yes Ol girl pulls out a vibranium knife screams "You can not take my power" and stabs him in the eye, and then going to tell him shes taking back the knife. lmao. This was everything.
I loved that, give me back my vibranium knife after she put it in his face!

Happy New Year to our Goddess Storm .

I just can’t get over the fact she stabbed someone the Eye. That’s so extreme I love it.
If Storm has a Vibranium Knife I wonder what else Vibranium weapons she has. I hope T’Challa gave her like a spear or something
It was just a mention. It is clear Krakoa and Wakanda are on good terms and that they have a familial alliance. Wakanda rep basically still recognizes Ororo as Queen. So all the diplomats in the room basically know now if they didn't there is a familial treaty between Wakanda and Krakoa.
I read it differently. They're not on bad terms, but from what he said, the only formal relationship ion between the two countries would be between BP and Storm. "Wakanda doesn't need mutant drugs" is still the policy. So if at some point there relationship ends, that will be the end of it.
Still waiting to see if Shaw will try to smuggle them in.

Yeah, stabbing a person in the eye is hard core, especially with a knife made of vibranium. It's also one of those scenes where you're like: Where in the hell did that blade come from? Because sista's uniform is skintight so ... uhh, that's a pretty big knife there Ms. Munroe. :)

Oh, most def. I didn't care either, but I did find her whipping the knife out of nowhere funny as hell. The size of the knife was also funny. It didn't even look like a foldable knife at that, which is downright hilarious. It would be cool if the knife was something she could materialize with her powers. The fact that it was made of vibranium was a nice, unobstrusive way to link this Storm to the one in BP. She could've simply been shown with the knife, but the author had her mention that it was made of vibranium, which I loved. Her use of a knife is also, as we all know, a cool nod to her orphan days and times without her powers.
She hid it in her wig.
Haaahhh, you're terrible. But damn if her hair isn't long enough to hide a knife in it. LOL.

Her Vibranium knives have been around for sometime. But its good to see them again. Remember she gifted her old set to Thunderbird or Warpath which ever one he's going by now.
Also the Knives she pulled out in Astonishing I assume was also Vibranium due to design and the time period.

Ahh, I was unaware. Cool. Was it also clear in those issues that the blades were made of vibranium? And hell, a vibranium-made blade should deliver a hell of a lot of damage. I'm thinking death for most people, or a permanent injury.

She was dead serious about that eye for an eye. I guess you can't even bring body armor to a knife fight with Storm. lol

Yes. when she gifts to Warpath she clearly States they're Vibranium. Can't remember if this is in UXM or XXM.
As for Astonishing, again just assuming seeing how she married at the time with the white Wakanda version of her original costume. And the gifting to Warpath happened first so again just assume she got a new Vibranium set. I assume she has multiple sets.

Ororo "stab-a-ho" Munroe.

When she was Queen, I always thought she had that firearm dismantler thingy Wakanda uses make firearms useless. But I think that tech is still classified to the world
As for Vibranium weapons i would like to see arrowheads or shrapnel to use with her winds. But again she can achive. The same attack with Dust or hail.

I understand. Thank you for explaining. Then today's issue makes for a nice continuity on many different levels.

My mind is in the gutter with the last part of your post. But I couldn't resist saying: Yes, T'Challa has given her a vibranium spear, which she loves and appreciates. :)

I must say Duggan came through on this issue and the vibranium blade was the icing on the cake.
Sidebar: how are people concluding xmen was a reference to tchalla and ororo? I didnt necessarily get that.

I believe the interpretation from some readers as to the reference was when the Wakanda rep mentioned Krakoa having to be satisfied with having a familial relationship with Wakanda in terms of kings and queens. The implication could mean he is referring to T'Challa and Ororo's past marriage but also their current relationship.
It has also been shown that some Wakandans still think of Ororo as their queen.
-
Yes, the Wakandan rep says their country STILL will not allow Krakoan drugs into their country. But that's okay, their nations are still bound together by their King and Queen. Meaning despite official word that she is divorced from their King T'Challa, Wakandans still consider Ororo their Queen (and one of the Goddesses in their Pantheon). Therefore, since their acclaimed still-Queen is a Krakoan, that essentially ties their respective nations to one side.
Mags accepts that, though he does remark that the Hellfire TC will also not take that lying down either because their ideal objective is to get Krakoan drugs EVERYWHERE on Earth, without exception, whether people like it or not (and hopefully profit from it).

Today’s Marauders moment was fun. I find it disappointing that the climate change stuff was given to Bobby over Storm, though. That seems like a no-brainer and missed opportunity, but that’s pretty par for the course with Storm.
On a brighter note, it does seem like Hickman is planting the seeds for Storm to be at the center of Wakanda/Krakoa relations. We’ll see, though. Plot developments that seem like no-brainers for Storm usually go to others.

This Issue was worthy of pick up. I’ll give my review later on but wanted to say I LOVE warrior storm and want to see a lot more of her (hopefully more scenes in the next issue), as well as a Ororo the stateswoman/high priestess representative of all that Krakoa could be as a force for good on earth.

I want to see her living it up in Krakoa. I want to see her wearing a glorious ornamental kaftan while chilling in her tropical palace.

Agreed. I’ve seen enough of her as a bare knuckles workhorse. We KNOW she’s got the chops for that. Every other writer feels like they have to remind us but without giving her any agency outside of her capacity for violence. There are other ways for her to lift up her people aside from violence. Her scene in HoX #5 was one of my favorites of all time for that reason.

I love warrior storm too. it's been such a long time since we have truly seen her.
-
Of course I want more than knife fighting Storm. I just nice to know that we’re not being forced to endure some bullshit pacifist Storm to make Cyclops look more cutthroat. I like that that her stateswoman status is being flexed very subtly. Hadari Yao is queen in name because a portion of Wakandan citizens still believe her to be their rightful queen. Hodari the Wakandan Council member states plainly that as a country Wakanda would rather settle for the more familial relationship of kings and queens. Storm may not want the titles thrusted upon her while she’s been under Coates, but that isn’t going unnoticed.
Hadari Yao, the queen who refused to have her power nullified. The woman that conceals vibranium knives and god knows what else on her person. I’ve been slayed!

Has it though? Even Guggenheim gave us his version of powerless badass Storm. I’m just sick of writers living out that nostalgia for her punk phase and doing little else. Why is Storm, the weather-controlling environmentally-conscious mutant, stabbing people in the eye while Iceman is refreezing the ice caps?
