Im in agreement. Anyway you look at it Storm being taken out of the X-men line and playing supporting to Tchalla was a downgrade. There is no way around that. It will only work if she has her own book while he has his or she is prominent in the x-men. And yes the argument could be made she wasn't written well at the time but they still took more than they gave.
How does becoming a queen of a nation and playing a larger part of the MU a downgrade when she wasnt a major player in the xbooks taking orders from Cyclops/Emma/Jean? When ororo was in xtreme.she was solely doing that to find the diaries of destiny. Jean was running the school, she was the face of the franchise before Hudlin gave her access to being something more than a foot soldier for xfriends

It took her away from her home base. Storm's fans are mainly x-men fans and x-men fans are larger than bp fans so on exposure alone she lost. But i'm not really going to go over all the same stuff over again. We are on opposite sides of this one but we ulimately want what we think is best for Storm. For me why couldn't it be both. Or why couldn't she get top billing in the book or a whole new title about them both. Storm will never be supporting for me, never.

And just because i'm pretty consistent on my thoughts of this. To me i was done with Beyonce after "Cater to you..." lmao.

Why can wolverine be all of the MU and it not impact him being at home base but for some reason it couldnt work with Storm? I dont believe because she was being written in BP she couldnt be used in the xoffices. The writers then wanted Cyclops and Emma to run the show. Having Ororo around wouldnt have changed the trajectory of the character because when she was written on the team she was doing so as a supporting character. Astonishing Xmen is evidence of this.
And your further point is what I'm saying. Ororo should have been doing things in BP while also being an important part of the Xmen. Somewhat how we are now seeing. The bottom of the line is if writers and the creative forces want her involved she will be. If Carol, Hulk, Spiderman, Thor, Wolvervine and Iron Man can do it I dont see why the same is not true of her. Luckily it seems Marvel is beginning to change that in regards to her larger presence in the MU.

As far as I am aware T'Challa is still the King of Wakanda after his most recent issue of Black Panther.
Getting back to the Avengers. Does this seem familiar to you guys?

To me it looks like Thor is using speech to summon Rain, just like Storm did back in the 90's in TAS show.

Cerimonial. They've haven't outlined what responsibilities he actually has now. They just write him as if nothings changed. Writers are only committed to it in words. So if he loses the throne and lives, nothing changes. Lol.

What would you say is the most important storm story that readers who want to know who she is should read?
For me, the most important Storm story of all time is Lifedeath.
How does a mutant fare when they lose their powers? This was an important storyline and Claremont chose to give it to Storm. There were a number of X-Men he could have gave the story to, but he chose her for a reason. Because she could handle it. This story showed the strength of the character, how she is not just defined by her powers to control the weather, and how she deals with loss.
This story showed us why it is important for Storm to be an X-Man and why the X-Men need her. How she was able to carry on in life.
No story defines the character like this one, a truly magnificent comic book. Oh, and of course the art.
For pure fun (even though it's not in the guide), one of my favourite Storm issues is X-Men 205 just for that magnificent spread of Storm Vs. Sinister and the Marauders/Acolytes.

I 1000% agree with both posts. I will always be a fan of both Ororo and T'Challa but their relationship always ruins my enjoyment of both. It is not symbiotic. I disliked T'Challa in the Hudlin run and AvX and when they reconciled i disliked Ororo in Coates' run. Someone always loses in their dynamics.
how was it a step backwards? can you explain? I can think of like 10 or so reasons why it did the opposite. I am assuming you are in agreement with the points made on the Twitter post yes?
You assume correctly. It took her from a place of power to play second fiddle to a character that otherwise wouldn't get the time of day. She was his cheerleader ffs. And her mythos with Wakanda was forced to make sure that she and BP are forever tied. The only link they had was her saving his ass back when they were kids and them crushing on each other. That was it. Anything more was Marvel saying: "How can we make BP interesting? Oh, I know. Marry him to Storm! She has way more pull than him."

Excellent choice. I like this story because I feel on a human level we can all identify with a feeling of hitting a low point, whether its romantically, emotionally, financially, physically, etc. and it shows how one even when you lose it all you can stand tall in your struggles and still thrive.
I need to reread the 205 issue again she was powerless at that point too right?

I dont think your assessment is a fair one. Aside from what priest wrote it was established in uncanny xmen that Ororo was the only person he trusts to help him when hes in trouble:

this connection goes beyond just simple flirtation. it started with Claremont and continued to develop as other writers added layers to it.

Totally see what you mean. It would be good to get more of the characters thoughts on the situation. They should do a day in the life of Krakoa where every issue follows a mutant and their day to day life on krakoa. I'd buy. It would also be a great way to introduce us to all the mutants on krakoa and give them a short data sheet for character development.
I think at 5'11", strong and thin build, Ororo should be somewhere at 145-150lbs. I'm 6', and I'm barely 160lbs. If Storm were supermodel skinny, she's be about 120lbs(like Anok Yai, who is 5'10"), so those old numbers weren't too far off.

I also think Ororo would have more meat on her bones. Anok is very skinny. But even if we look at real athletes, given Ororo's skillset, maybe we can compare her to martial artists, gymnasts, or swimmers, or even basketball players, 5'11" and 140-160lbs should be right on(which is 20-40lbs more than Anok on the same frame, which is more than enough for a little muscle and a little more hips/bust).
Look at Maya Moore, for example. She's 6' and about 174, and I think she's more built than Ororo usually is depicted as.

Kerri Walsh Jennings is several inches taller than Ororo at 6'3", has a similar build, and weighs about 156lbs.

At 5'9", Serena Williams is a little shorter than Ororo, built more powerfully than Ororo is typically depicted as, and weighs about 154.
