Should Storm be an External?
I mean that's kinda what I thought she was when Introduce in Giant Size.
A goddess and an External? The country would drown from the tears of joy from Storm fans.
But I don't think she should be an External.

She a Goddess....an External would be a step down.
A Goddess and External would be all sorts of OP ridiculousness.
-
Dave Cockrum did originally intend for her to be an ancient, eternally youthful goddess, but given how whack the Externals have been in the comics, there is no reason she should be associated with them.

Xavier shutting her down. Wonder what he would say now

Ahh, there is nothing like white paternalism to make you feel all warm and fuzzy. Smh.

Xavier genuinely didn't know that Storm had divine roots so I can't get too mad at him lol. But I guess one could argue that refusing to even sit down and understand Ororo or her people's perspective and just imposing his Western worldview on their society is a kind of white paternalism. Thankfully Claremont and writers since him have recognized that the faith and spirituality surrounding Storm has a mystical aspect. She can be a mutant and a goddess.
In other news, we got some cool hints about Storm's sword in X-Factor #4. Polaris is giving some cryptic prophecy and this is what she says relating to Storm: "Once goddess, once queen, one sword with which to split the sky in twain. Vibranium inlaid, a tempest contained, the wrath of heavens comes wielding a legacy."
That fits with what we saw in some of the first pics from Marauders #13, since it looks like the sword was created by a past Black Panther with Wakanda's vibranium. The interesting bits are how the sword contains a tempest and how Storm would be wielding a legacy. It definitely sounds like this sword has a magical enchantment of sorts (which is in line with most of the other swords). We see as much when the unnamed BP uses it to blast an enemy with lightning.
The "legacy" could be a reference to the Black Panther line itself, as there have probably been other Black Panthers that've used the sword since its creation. Or, this could be hinting at Storm's ancestral bloodline. We know that that the Hadari Yao has existed in Wakanda for ages, is it possible that one of Storm's ancestors is responsible for providing the magical enchantment? I know some people were disappointed about Storm not using the Sword of Bone but there's a chance her bloodline may still be related to Skybreaker in some way.

Jen Bartel also got to draw a Storm page in the issue

Lol. In his defense, he is only a man.

what's up with Alex Ross' page?? The 2nd gen X-Men (particularly Storm) look like they were drawn for a Marvel Zombies variant, but the O5 look normal....

Exactly. Because their wants and needs are obviously less important than his and mutants'. Smh.

His needs really. He recruited her to go save his white students that he nearly got killed. F--k Storm, her life and her people. She needed to drop everything to put her life on the line to clean up his mess

Yes, all of this and more, which is why I wrote my initial comment about white paternalism. Clearly, in his mind her "responsibilities" did not extend to the villagers or others on the continent but to mutants who, presumably, were supposed to be her "real" people/tribe. Smh.
-
Advocating for the Devil here....
Was she doing anything proactive for Africa/the Continent? Or...just being the local Weather Girl for any village who needed it?
And as per Xavier's pitch...she did find and embraced her role and place in the world (and Universe) at large...a question she herself wrestled with but ultimately came to terms with.
